US Prez Trump asks tech giants to stop building factories, hiring from India, other countries
"For too long, much of our tech industry pursued a radical globalism that left millions of Americans feeling distrustful and betrayed. And you know that," Trump said.
"Many of our largest tech companies have reaped the blessings of American freedom while building their factories in China, hiring workers in India, and slashing profits in Ireland. You know that. All the while dismissing and even censoring their fellow citizens right here at home," Trump said ahead of unveiling his administration's "AI Action Plan."
He said this in his address to the All-In Podcast and Hill & Valley Forum AI Summit in Washington, DC on Wednesday (local time) Washington, DC.
Trump signed three new executive orders: expediting permitting for AI infrastructure, boosting exports of US-developed AI, and banning federal procurement of AI systems with political or ideological bias.
During his remarks at the AI Summit, Trump urged US tech companies to be "all in for America."
"We want you to put America first. You have to do that. That's all we ask. That's all we ask to partner with our tech geniuses and achieving this vision. Today, we're releasing the White House AI action plan. Big stuff," Trump said.
The US President said that in a few months, "Meta, Amazon, Google, Microsoft are all investing $320 billion dollars or more in data centers and AI infrastructure this year" adding that Nvidia has committed $500 billion over the next four years.
"For decades, we had leaders who spent their time focused on building up foreign nations. Under the Trump administration, we are going to have leaders who are going to build up our nation. This colossal investment in AI infrastructure and many other industries for that matter such as automobiles and so many other things will also create thousands and thousands of great paying jobs. the kind of jobs we want, including lots of blue collar jobs," Trump said.
Taking aim at his predecessor Joe Biden, Trump said, "The last administration was obsessed with imposing restrictions on AI, including extreme restrictions on its exports."
This he said "alienated American partners and drove even our friends into the arms of China and other countries," Trump said noting that he had upon assuming office "repealed the so-called Biden diffusion rule," which crippled American AI exports.
Further he said," We created the digital age, and now we are leading the world into the golden age.
Indeed, the golden age of America. With your help, that golden age will be built by American workers. It will be powered by American energy. It will be run on American technology, improved by American artificial intelligence."

'Our focus on ending conflict, addressing humanitarian situation in Gaza': US State Department
Washington DC: The Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State, Tommy Pigott highlighted the priority of the US administration when it comes to the issue of Israel, where he stated that the focus is on ending the conflict, ensuring the release of hostages and getting in as much food as possible into Gaza without it being "looted by Hamas". Pigott made the remarks during the Department of State briefing on Thursday (local time). While answering several queries which were raised around the conflict in Israel, Deputy Spokesperson Pigott highlighted the latest move by the US government imposing visa sanctions on officials of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and members of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), citing non-compliance with past commitments. Pigott said, "The State Department reported to Congress that the Palestine Liberation Organisation and the Palestinian Authority are not in compliance with their commitments under the PLO Commitments Compliance Act 1989 and the Middle East Peace Commitments Act 2002. In response, the United States is imposing sanctions that deny visas to PLO members and PA Officials." It further added, "These actions reflect our national security interests and our commitment to holding the PLO and PA accountable for undermining the prospects for peace." While mentioning the conflict in Israel, Pigott added, "Our focus is on ending the conflict, making sure hostages are released and getting as much food into Gaza without it being looted by Hamas". He also reiterated the statement made by the US President on Truth Social earlier, where he said, "The fastest way to end the Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza is for Hamas to SURRENDER AND RELEASE THE HOSTAGES!!!" Meanwhile, at the White House Press Briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had said, "Special Envoy Witkoff and Ambassador Huckabee had a very productive meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu and other officials today in Israel on the topic of delivering much-needed food and aid to Gaza. President Trump is a humanitarian with a big heart -- and that's why he sent Special Envoy Witkoff to the region, in an effort to save lives and end this crisis." She had informed that Envoy Witkoff and Ambassador Huckabee would travel to Gaza to inspect the distribution sites and secure a plan to deliver more food, meet with local Gazans to hear first-hand about the dire situation on the ground. She added, "The Special Envoy and the Ambassador will brief the President immediately after their visit to approve a final plan for food and aid distribution into the region". The hunger crisis in Gaza has become one of the worst humanitarian emergencies in recent memory, with over two million Palestinians living amid widespread destruction and shortages of essential supplies. Al Jazeera reported that the United Nations has warned that Palestinian children are especially vulnerable and has repeatedly called on the United Nations to allow an uninterrupted flow of aid supplies into Gaza.

India announces eight new consular application centres in US
Washington DC: India's Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Kwatra, on Thursday announced the opening of eight new Indian Consular Application Centres across the United States, aimed at expanding access to consular services for the Indian diaspora. In a post on X, the Embassy of India in Washington, DC shared a video message by Ambassador Vinay Kwatra. "Announcing major expansion of our Consular Services in the USA beginning August 01, 2025. Here is a message from Ambassador Vinay Kwatra about this expansion and the positive changes it would bring to our service delivery." Ambassador Kwatra said in his statement that the new Indian Consular Application Centres would be in Boston, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Addison, Orlando, Raleigh, and San Jose. "In addition, we would also be opening another Indian Consular Application Centre in Los Angeles very soon. With the opening of these new Indian Consular Application Centres, our presence to provide extensive consular services and related delivery capabilities would increase and expand significantly. Besides, it would also make the delivery of these consular services faster and more accessible to our vibrant Indian diaspora." The Ambassador said that starting August 1, all the Indian consular application centres would also remain open on Saturdays. He noted that this would help significantly enhance not just the availability of various consular services, but also their accessibility to the Indian diaspora. The Ambassador also mentioned the streamlining of various miscellaneous consular services, which would be made available through the Indian Consular Application Centres, and a few of the important services would, however, continue to be dispersed and made available from the embassy premises. "We firmly believe that people-to-people ties are at the heart of the India-US partnership. With the opening of two new consulates in Boston and Los Angeles, which the Prime Minister of India had announced a few months ago, we would be able to further strengthen not just a relationship between our two countries, but also our people-to-people ties, particularly in the areas of Boston and Los Angeles". Ambassador Kwatra requested the members of the Indian diaspora to keep visiting the website of the Indian Embassy, where detailed information about the opening of these Indian Consular Application Centres and the availability of various miscellaneous Consular services would be made available more regularly. As per the Ministry of External Affairs, about 5.4 million Indian origin people (per MEA data; includes 2.07 million NRIs) reside in the US. Persons of Indian origin constitute the third-largest Asian ethnic group in the US. The Indian diaspora has been a catalyst in cementing closer ties between India and the US. Earlier this year, in January, the United States held a dedication ceremony for its new Consulate in Bengaluru, which made it the fifth US consulate in India.

"President secured a historic trade agreement with the EU that puts America first": White House
Washington DC: The White House Press Secretary announced on Thursday (local time) several updates on the front of trade and tariff under the Trump 2.0 administration, highlighting a "historic" trade agreement with the European Union (EU), which amongst several other factors would see the EU purchasing USD750 billion in US energy and also informed of negotiating trade deals with18 major trading partners. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made the remarks during the White House Press Briefing. Speaking about the trade agreement with the European Union, Leavitt told the media, "On the trade front, the president secured a historic trade agreement with the European Union that puts America first and fundamentally strengthens the economic relationship between the two largest economies in the world. This deal delivers on two of President Trump's core promises on trade- supercharging America's manufacturing capacity and opening up foreign market access to American businesses. The deal guarantees that American businesses will have unprecedented levels of access to the European Union markets to export our American-made goods. Also, as part of this agreement, the EU will purchase $750 billion in U.S. energy to strengthen our energy dominance, reduce European reliance on adversarial sources, and narrow our trade deficit with the EU". She highlighted that all of these massive purchases and investments will happen by the end of 2028. "What we are watching is President Trump rebuilding the greatest economy in the history of the world and simultaneously proving the so-called economic experts wrong at every turn. Media pundits said a trade deal with the EU this monumental and beneficial to America would be impossible, but President Trump made it happen", Leavitt added. Speaking about other negotiations on the trade front, she also answered a query on trade discussions with South Korea. She said, "South Korea will purchase USD 100B in American energy by 2028--and the centrepiece of this deal is that South Korea has agreed to invest $350B at the President's direction to revitalise American industry. Ninety per cent of those profits will go to the United States government to help pay down our debt and other matters of the President's choosing. " Providing a broader view of the administration's trade strategy, Karoline Leavitt said, "We promised that the President would negotiate with countries all around the world to cut tailor-made trade deals ... of our 18 major trading partners, two-thirds of those trading partners have a deal." "More than 200 countries around the world have reached out to the trade and tariff are going to prioritise our key trading trade team has been working around the clock to try to be in correspondence with as many countries as possible, but if they haven't heard from us yet, they will in the form of a letter or an executive order by midnight tonight". As the long-feared tariff hikes come into force on August 1, the US administration has inked a flurry of trade deals. Several nations, including the UK, Indonesia, Japan, and the EU, successfully negotiated lower tariff rates than initially threatened. US President Donald Trump announced steep trade tariffs for many of the country's largest trading partners, as countries try to get extensions for negotiations beyond the August 1 deadline, Al Jazeera reported. The Trump administration has justified the new tariff rates as necessary to redress trade imbalances, thereby giving a boost to American manufacturing and jobs, in line with his popular agenda, 'Make America Great Again'. The White House had confirmed that Trump will sign new executive orders on Thursday, thereby formally imposing all these higher tariffs.
