Aman Wadi Safar unveiled as Amansamar
Combining Aman, the Sanskrit word for peace, and Samar, an Arabic term referring to the ritual of sharing stories and knowledge with family and friends at nightfall, Amansamar represents a community founded on connection and tranquillity. The name also translates to 'the peaceful acacia tree,' a symbol of resilience and peace, known for thriving in arid landscapes. This storied tree will serve as a central feature of Wadi Safar's design language, with acacia trees thoughtfully integrated across the site to reflect a deep connection to place.
Featuring an 80 key Aman hotel the property will reflect Aman's hallmark principles of peace and privacy. An oasis of calm, Amansamar will feature the brand's signature minimalist design led by Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects.
Home to a limited collection of Aman-branded residences comprising ultra-luxury villas and private estates - the first of their kind in the Kingdom. Owning a residence at Amansamar offers a rare opportunity to embrace the Aman lifestyle in a profoundly private, secure, and naturally beautiful setting, complemented by the brand's unparalleled service. Each five- to six-bedroom home is set on an expansive plot starting from 9,000 square metres, thoughtfully positioned along cliffs and desert terrain to maximise natural light and panoramic views. Residents will also enjoy close proximity to Wadi Safar's Royal Signature Golf Course, designed by Greg Norman, as well as world-class polo and equestrian facilities.
In addition, Amansamar's extensive amenities will be available to both guests and residence owners including an Aman Spa with signature hammam and banya houses, hydrotherapy facilities, dining venues, a Racquet Club, multiple pools, and a Kids' Club. Owners will receive privileged entry to the Residence Club - a private sanctuary for wellness, dining, and relaxation as well receiving an invitation to join the global Aman Club - with locations in Tokyo, New York and Bangkok and a robust pipeline of future destinations including Miami Beach and Beverly Hills. The Aman Club at Amansamar will offer exclusive access to select spaces, experiences and programming.
Currently under construction, Amansamar joins a growing collection of Aman Group destinations in the region. These include Janu Diriyah and Aman AlUla in Saudi Arabia, Aman Dubai and Janu Dubai and the recently announced Amangati, a 183-metre luxury motor yacht developed in partnership with Cruise Saudi, set to begin voyages in the Mediterranean in 2027. With further projects to be announced in the near future, Aman Group remains steadfast in its commitment to offering ultra-luxury, culturally connected experiences across the Middle East.

GASTAT: Over 15mln pilgrims perform Umrah in Q1 2025
RIYADH — The total number of pilgrims who performed Umrah during the first quarter of 2025 crossed 15 million. According to the statistical bulletin released on Thursday by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), these include more than six million foreign pilgrims and over eight million domestic pilgrims. Saudis constitute 24 percent of the total pilgrims, reaching 15,222,497, who performed Umrah during this period. Among these pilgrims males represented 60.5 percent while women accounted for 39.5 percent. The GASTAT bulletin showed that Umrah pilgrims arriving from abroad reached 6,523,630, an increase of 10.7 percent compared with the first quarter of 2024. Of the foreign pilgrims, 82.2 percent arrived by air. The number of domestic pilgrims stood at 8,698,867, of whom non-Saudis made up 58 percent. The bulletin showed that January 2025 recorded the highest number of Umrah pilgrims from abroad, reaching 36.5 percent of the total, while March saw the lowest. The number of domestic pilgrims peaked in March at 80.9 percent, with January being the lowest. The figures showed that the total number of visitors to Madinah reached 6,452,696 during the first quarter of 2025, including 4,412,689 visitors from abroad. The GASTAT releases statistical figures with regard to the number of pilgrims coming from within the Kingdom and outside to perform Umrah and visit the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah on a quarterly basis since 2024. The figures are mainly based on field surveys and administrative data from the Pilgrim Experience Program and the Ministry of Tourism, in addition to approved statistical sources. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced on July 31 that more than 1.2 million pilgrims had entered Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah from 109 countries around the world during the two-week period since the start of the new Umrah Season on June 11 until July 25. The ministry explained at the time that the recent period witnessed a 30 percent increase in the number of pilgrims entering the country with an Umrah visa, compared to the same period last year, and a 27 percent increase in the number of Umrah visas issued. In addition, more than 4,200 contracts were signed between Umrah companies and external agents, enhancing the operational readiness of the system to receive pilgrims. The launching of the Nusuk Umrah service by Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on Wednesday will be a further boost in the arrival of foreign pilgrims. This service will enable foreign pilgrims to directly apply for an Umrah visa and book services online without intermediaries. © Copyright 2022 The Saudi Gazette. All Rights Reserved. Saudi Arabia's first cruise line, AROYA, has expanded into the Mediterranean less than a year after its maiden voyage in the Red Sea — marking a major step in the Kingdom's ambition to become a global player in cruise tourism. Operated by Cruise Saudi, a company fully owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), AROYA first set sail on December 16, 2024, from Jeddah Islamic Port. The floating resort spans 19 decks, accommodates 3,362 passengers, and features 1,678 cabins and suites designed to showcase Saudi luxury and hospitality. The summer itinerary features six- to seven-night sailings to iconic destinations including Athens, Mykonos, Souda Bay, Bodrum, and Alexandria, with cruises running through mid-September. Beyond its itineraries, AROYA reflects Saudi identity through cultural design and distinctive experiences. The ship offers 12 restaurants and 17 cafés serving global cuisine alongside authentic national flavours. In partnership with the Culinary Arts Commission, AROYA introduced Irth, the first Saudi restaurant at sea, and collaborates with Sawani to provide camel milk products from 'Noug.' Entertainment and leisure are at the heart of the guest experience, with 20 onboard facilities. These include the largest kids' area on any cruise ship (1,800sq m), the 1,018-seat AROYA Theatre, a souq-inspired shopping district, a sports complex, a jogging track, and a full wellness centre. The exclusive Khuzama area offers 145 suites and nine villas, including private villas of up to 395sqm with dedicated services. Reflecting Saudi values, AROYA also includes prayer areas and women-only spa hours. Cruise Saudi said the ship's ongoing expansion into Europe strengthens KSA's position in international marine tourism while advancing Vision 2030 goals of economic diversification and tourism growth.
