Harrowing ITV Coronation Street episode will show character reach breaking point in emotional hour-long special
Coronation Street will cast a deeply moving and compelling spotlight on Asha Alahan, portrayed by Tanisha Gorey, in a special hour-long episode that's just been announced.
Fans can catch a first glimpse from Coronation Street 's brand new trailer. The episode will explore the pressures Asha encounters as a trainee paramedic, examining the concealed stresses and tensions lurking beneath her apparent composure.
The later half of the gripping ITV episode unfolds entirely through Asha's viewpoint, looking back to a traumatic day that drives her to her to the brink.
Viewers will witness Asha experience the complete terror of a shift featuring a fatality, a wounded elderly person, and a distressing racist assault, all leading to her frantic battle to catch her breath in the Rovers back garden, consumed by a debilitating panic attack.
Whilst her twin brother Aadi, portrayed by Adam Hussain, gets ready to begin a fresh adventure in India, Asha fights her internal struggles, determined to conceal her genuine emotions from her loved ones.
To guarantee Asha's story has been presented in the most authentic, compassionate and truthful way, Coronation Street has been collaborating with The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC).
Angie Crashley, Wellbeing Support Team Manager at TASC, said: "At TASC, we were pleased to support the Coronation Street team in developing Asha's storyline, helping to ensure that it reflects the real-life experiences and challenges faced by student paramedics.
"Storylines like this play a vital role in raising awareness and breaking down stigma around the pressures ambulance staff can face – especially those who are just starting their careers. We're proud to have contributed to a storyline that highlights both the importance of support and the strength of those working on the frontline.
"Our charity supports the mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing of the UK's ambulance community, and it was important to us that this story was portrayed with sensitivity and accuracy. Since the launch of the Ambulance Staff Crisis phoneline we have supported 1068 people in crisis or at risk of taking their own life, of those 15 were student paramedics.
"No matter what role you have in the ambulance community, TASC is here for you – because those who care for others deserve care too."
Regarding Asha's forthcoming storyline, actress Tanisha added: "I feel honoured to be trusted with a storyline of this scale and significance. Stepping into the shoes of a trainee paramedic and exploring the highs, lows, and emotional challenges of their work has been both moving and eye-opening. It's a role that carries a huge responsibility, and I hope we've done justice to the reality so many face. Lawyers for Katie's first husband, Peter Andre, were already on 'red alert' even before news of the planned documentary surfaced last week. It comes as Peter, 52, released a statement blasting his ex-wife's 'lies'. Asked about the show, an insider close to the Australian singer said: 'His lawyers will be keeping a close eye on all things moving forward in terms of what Kate says or does.' The three-part series is reportedly being made by Louis Theroux's production company Mindhouse and put out by Sky. A strongly worded legal letter is being prepared on behalf of Kieran and Alex, urging the broadcaster to reconsider airing it. A spokesman for Kieran said: 'We are keeping all our options open. I can confirm Alex Reid is on the same page.' A TV insider claimed this week that the autobiographical show would 'likely spill the beans on [Katie's] many flings and love affairs' and would be the 'most authentic version of her story'. But a source close to Kieran said: 'Enough is enough. They want to move on with their lives, and they can't trust anything that comes out her mouth.' Katie and Kieran were married from 2013 to 2021. I went and I had them out and, for me, it was one of the best things I've done.' Josie, a regular presenter on the ITV show, had a breast enhancement operation in 2013 to take her from a B cup to a DD.
