Under the agreement, BIAL will allocate approximately 31 acres of land to IndiGo for the development of MRO infrastructure, which will support the airline's growing fleet, ANI reported.
'Partnering with BIAL underlines our shared commitment to drive long-term growth of the aviation ecosystem in Bengaluru and cement its status as one of the best and world-class international hubs in India,' said Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo.
'We see this collaboration as a pivotal step towards building a significant global presence for IndiGo, as well as for India.'
Hari Marar, MD & CEO of BIAL, welcomed the partnership, saying: 'We have had a very successful, long-term relationship with IndiGo, and this collaboration further strengthens our association with the airline. This is a strong validation of the growth potential of BLR Airport and the City of Bengaluru as a premier aviation hub.'
He added that the initiative reinforces BIAL's commitment to developing world-class aviation infrastructure and positioning Bengaluru as a leading aerospace and MRO hub in India.
In addition to the MRO facility, IndiGo and BIAL will explore collaboration in areas such as network expansion, infrastructure development, and joint marketing initiatives.
The airline, which is preparing for rapid fleet growth, expects to have over 600 aircraft by 2030.

IndiGo has also partnered with Norse Atlantic Airways for the dry lease of six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with deliveries scheduled to complete by early 2026, ahead of the planned arrival of Airbus A350s in 2027.
IndiGo recently announced the launch of long-haul operations with non-stop flights from Mumbai to Manchester and Amsterdam starting July 2025. The airline also plans to expand its long-haul network to London and Copenhagen as its fleet of damp-leased B787s grows later this year.
Domestically, the airline will add four new destinations, expanding its network from 91 to 95 locations. IndiGo is also set to become the first carrier to operate from the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport and Noida International Airport in Jewar.
At a press briefing, Elbers noted that the airline's loyalty program, BlueChip, has already enrolled three million members within six months of its launch.
'The financial year 2025 has been a pivotal year in our journey as we took significant steps in our evolution into a truly global airline,' Elbers said. 'This includes the introduction of IndiGoStretch, our tailor-made business offering, and BlueChip, our loyalty program, besides sizeable network expansion in the domestic as well as international market.'

Indigo Airlines on Saturday announced operations for all its flights to and from Tuticorin from the New Terminal building of the Tuticorin airport from August 3. In a post on social media X, the airlines appealed to all passengers to update their contact details in order to receive timely notifications and monitor their flight status for a well-prepared journey. 'Travel Advisory: Tuticorin Terminal Update Effective 03 August 2025, all IndiGo flights to/from Tuticorin (TCR) will operate from the New Terminal Building, offering a refreshed and enhanced airport experience for our customers. 'We encourage you to update your contact details to receive timely notifications and to monitor your flight status for a smooth and well-prepared journey. Thank you for choosing to fly with us," the post read. A day earlier, InterGlobe Aviation Limited, operating the airlines, announced a consolidated net profit of Rs 2,176 crore during the first quarter of 2025-26, despite a turbulent operating environment influenced by geopolitical tensions, airspace restrictions, and a tragic aviation accident in Ahmedabad. The carrier registered about 12 per cent year-on-year growth in passenger volumes, carrying 3.1 crore passengers during the April-June 2025 quarter, showcasing resilient demand even as yields declined by 5 per cent to Rs 4.98 per km and load factor dipped by 2.1 points to 84.6 per cent. Revenue from operations rose 4.7 per cent to Rs 20,496 crore. However, the airline's profit after tax dropped 20.2 per cent from Rs 2,729 crore in Q1 2024-25. Pieter Elbers, CEO, said, 'The June quarter was shaped by significant external challenges that created headwinds for the entire aviation sector. Despite these industry-wide disruptions, we reported a net profit of Rs 21,763 million with a net profit margin of around 11 per cent for the quarter ended June 2025." 'While the revenue environment saw moderation, demand for air travel held strong as we served more than 31 million passengers during the quarter, reflecting a growth of around 12 per cent on a year-over-year basis," Elbers added. Air India privatisation a disaster, says Manish Tewari

Congress leader Manish Tewari called the government's decision to privatise Air India and transfer its ownership to the Tata Group a 'disaster' over complaints about cancellations and delays, and described the airline as a 'management mess'. 'The Government of India should take Air India back from the Tata Group. They have run the airline into the ground,' he wrote in a post on X on Friday (August 1, 2025), calling the privatisation exercise a 'disaster'. He lamented the cancellations and delays by Air India 'at the drop of a hat', and claimed that these were happening without any explanations being offered by the airline. In a reference to appointees from Tata Group companies at the airline, he remarked that 'pilots and crew tell me that people who grow tea in Tata Tea, make steel in Tata Steel, make cars in Tata Motors are running Air India' and labelled the airline as a complete management mess. Tata Group took over Air India in January 2022 after it won the bid invited by the government for selling its 100% stake in the erstwhile national carrier. The airline has been at the centre of public and regulatory scrutiny since the June 12 crash in Ahmedabad that killed 260 people, the deadliest crash in the country in three decades, and the first involving a Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
