New Easter Eggs For Taylor Swift's 12th Album
But first, lemme catch up the non-superfans. Ever since Taylor Swift wrapped up The Eras Tour in December (8 months ago, if you can believe it), she's been a bit...quiet. She hasn't released an album (or re-recording) since The Tortured Poets Department came out on April 19, 2024. Taylor also had one of her longest social media silences ever, which ended when she announced she'd bought back her first six albums on May 30.
On the topic of her final two re-recordings, Reputation (Taylor's Version) and Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version), Taylor wrote, "Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about." She also admitted she "[hasn't] even re-recorded a quarter" of Rep TV. So all that to say: Despite what most fans assumed until that point, Taylor's next release will almost certainly not be the re-recordings.
So that begs the question: When is Taylor Swift's 12th studio album (AKA TS12) gonna come out? Taylor is known for her Easter eggs, so have there been any thus far? WHAT'S THE SITCH??? Let's chat.
First, TS12 theories aren't new. Taylor and her team have teased the number 12 a LOT in the last few months. Plus, her earrings at the most-recent Grammy Awards had 12 stones in them (and Taylor is known for leaving Easter eggs in clothing). At the end of The Eras Tour Book, which came out in November, Taylor wrote "See you next era...", hinting that there might be a brand-new "era" (AKA album) soon. Finally, through even more sleuthing on Taylor's outfits, fans have suspected her next album will be orange or purple.
But amidst all these subtle Easter eggs, we've all been waiting for any SOLID evidence from Taylor Nation, Taylor Swift's team-run account for fans. And we got it today! On Aug. 11, Taylor Nation posted a carousel of 12 (yep, 12) photos of Taylor from The Eras Tour, ALL WEARING ORANGE OUTFITS, with the caption: "Thinking about when she said 'See you next era…' ❤️🔥"
Also worth noting is that Sabrina Carpenter is featured in the last photo of the carousel, so people think Sabrina might be featured on Taylor's 12th album.
SO SOUND YOUR ALARMS, because in Swiftville, that's basically an official announcement. Or rather, an announcement that there WILL be an announcement veryyy soon. It's also essentially confirmation that her incoming era will indeed be orange! (See, us fans were finally right about something!)
But that's not all: Fans are convinced they know WHEN and HOW Taylor will make the announcement, and it has to do with Taylor's boyfriend of almost two years, NFL player Travis Kelce.
You may know that Travis and his brother Jason host the New Heights podcast together, where they mainly (but not always) discuss NFL-related topics. They'll occasionally feature a guest in an episode, and when they do, they'll normally post a thumbnail with a YELLOW background. Well, they just teased a "VERY special guest" with a black silhouette of the mystery guest...on an ORANGE background. Sensing a pattern?
Fans also noticed Jason is wearing a Taylor Swift shirt in the podcast teaser photo, and Taylor's record label, Republic Records, liked the post.
Fans immediately suspected the surprise guest is Taylor, and theorized that she's announcing TS12 in the episode. So how did the Kelce brothers respond to this? They quoted their own tweet with the emojis "👀🧡" — potentially confirming fans' theory!!! Besides, if that isn't enough, the episode drops Wednesday, August 13, which totally aligns with Taylor's obsession with the number 13.
So with all of this in mind, it's fair to assume Taylor's 12th album is en route, and it's coming FAST. And Swifties are absolutely freaking out about it, of course.
Soooo in the meantime, I'll be crossing my fingers we do get TS12 news on Wednesday, and keeping my eyes open for any additional Easter eggs (because I'm positive we've missed plenty). Annnnd you'll also find me listening to "So High School" on repeat!
What are your thoughts on these TS12 announcement Easter eggs? Are you convinced, or still on the fence? Tell me in the comments below!

Taylor Swift says she was in a 'state of perpetual physical discomfort' while performing on the Eras Tour
Taylor Swift says life on her record-breaking Eras Tour wasn't all glitz and glamour. During an appearance on the " New Heights" podcast hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce, the pop star spoke about the physical toll of performing on the stage night after night. When asked how she felt after wrapping up her tour after months on the road, Swift said she felt "great." "I miss it. I do miss it, but it's like it was perfect for what it was. Do you know what I mean? And it was a lot of physical therapy, and it was a lot of being in a state of perpetual physical discomfort — kind of like when you're in season, " Swift told the brothers. The singer added that she kept an acupuncture mat in the hotel room that she used after the shows. The Eras Tour, which grossed over $2 billion, consisted of 149 shows held across 21 countries. Each concert lasted an average of three hours and fifteen minutes, depending on the set list and the weather. Despite the grueling schedule, Swift says she misses her fans and the connection she was able to share with them during the tour. "It was so special. It was the most formative time of my life. I learned so much about how far I can push myself if I set a goal," Swift said. Committing to such a lengthy set from the beginning of a tour was a significant commitment, she added. "Making that a three-and-a-half-hour show at the beginning of the tour, it's like you can't be sick one day and then decide tonight it's going to be two-and-a-half hours," Swift said. "It's really just prioritizing the fans' experience before anything else." That includes things like stomach flu, aching feet, or blisters, she added. Looking back on the experience, Swift said she wouldn't do anything differently. "I'm glad that I got to actually be prepared for this tour the way that I was," she said. Unlike previous tours, where she only hit her stride toward the final stretch, Swift said she wanted to have her stamina from day one. "That's why I did so much more training, so much more endurance training, and cardio, and stuff that doesn't come naturally because I'm not an athlete, so it's like that stuff I have to really force myself to do," she said. Swift previously said she ran on the treadmill while "singing the entire set list out loud" to train for the tour. She also took three months of dance training and cut out alcohol for the duration of the tour. Swift announced her coming album, " The Life of a Showgirl," in a preview clip from the podcast that was released on Tuesday.

For her 'Showgirl' era, Taylor Swift didn't have to do it with a broken heart
If she could do "The Tortured Poets Department" with a broken heart, Taylor Swift is planning to show what she can do with a fully restored one. The pop superstar made her highly anticipated debut as a guest on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's "New Heights" podcast on Aug. 13. As the episode began, the singer's website updated with an album cover of her submerged in bathwater in a bedazzled corset and a release date of Oct. 3. Fans who wanted a physical copy of her 12th era waited in a virtual line to order one of four variants: "Sweat and Vanilla Perfume," "It's Frightening," "It's Rapturous" and "It's Beautiful." "I am so grateful for the ability to create," Swift said acknowledging she's never taken it easy despite her astronomical success. "With the altitude I was reaching, there was more pressure every step of life. I was getting more creative control and freedom at times, and that is why it felt so much more special to keep working harder." She wrote, sang and produced "Showgirl" during the European leg of the Eras Tour. The artwork represents the end of her nights on tour. "My day ends with me in a bathtub, not usually in a bedazzled dress," she said. "I wanted to glamorize all the different aspects of how that tour felt." Between stops, the singer with blistered heels and unrelenting stamina would fly in and out of Sweden to work with producers Max Martin and Shellback. The three of them collaborated on "Red" bops and the albums "1989" and "Reputation." There are 12 tracks on "Showgirl," including the title track featuring Sabrina Carpenter. Another song is called "Cancelled!" "That's a banger," Travis Kelce said as her No. 1 fan. He later clarified that there are 12 bangers on the album including: "The Fate of Ophelia" (a nod to Hamlet), "Elizabeth Taylor," "Opalite," "Father Figure," "Eldest Daughter," "Ruin the Friendship," "Actually Romantic," "Wi$h Li$T," "Wood" and "Honey." Kelce's review: fun, pop and upbeat. "This album is going to make you dance," Kelce said grinning ear-to-ear. "He's like a human exclamation point," Swift told Jason Kelce. Travis Kelce said she's "the best songwriter in the world." Swift countered with "says my boyfriend." Why 'New Heights'? Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, have hosted the "New Heights" podcast since 2022, but this was the first time Swift has been a guest on the show since she and Travis began their highly publicized romance in 2023. Swift chose Kelce's podcast as a platform to reveal her next album and usher in a new era, rather than do so on her own social media channels or at a live event, because it's where their love story began. Taylor Swift joins Travis Kelce on 'my favorite podcast' in latest 'New Heights' clip Fans had been eagerly anticipating the start of her next era after the singer wrapped her wildly popular Eras Tour in December. Her previous album, "The Tortured Poets Department," dropped in April 2024 to critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination for album of the year. Taylor Swift album comes after music catalog ownership announcement "The Life of a Showgirl" will be Swift's first time releasing new music since she became the owner of her entire catalog. In May, she revealed she gained ownership of all her old albums following a dispute with former music manager Scooter Braun. "All of the music I've ever made now belongs to me," she said at the time. Taylor Swift announces new album: What to know about 'The Life of a Showgirl' Before this, Swift had been in the process of rerecording her first six albums so that she would own all of her music. Swift's self-titled 2006 debut album and her 2017 album "Reputation" were the only ones that had not yet been rereleased. In her May announcement, she told fans that she had already rerecorded "Taylor Swift" and may still put it out. She also said she had not yet finished rerecording "Reputation" but planned to eventually release previously unheard "vault" tracks. Her family assists in running a slew of companies she operates in Tennessee. A few months after the Super Bowl, her brother, Austin, and mother, Andrea, flew to Los Angeles to meet with Shamrock Capital executives and discuss buying back her masters, a goal since Big Machine Records sold her work in 2019. Swift fought back tears explaining the moment her mom called to tell her Shamrock agreed to sell. "This changed my life," she said. Peeling back the curtain The back-and-forth cadence between Swift and Kelce is reminiscent of Swift's Myspace days when she would vlog about life as a teenager with her best friend Abigail Anderson. Yes, she misses the Eras Tour crowds and seeing the fans, but she also loves the downtime and spending time with loved ones. Swift met Kelce after he used the podcast as a "personal dating app" prompting people in his circle to talk to people in her circle, including Chiefs Coach Andy Reid. "This dude didn't get a meet and greet, and it's everyone's problem," she joked about Kelce. As for hearing unwanted opinions on the internet or negative comments, she doesn't read them. Swift turned off her Instagram comments 10 years ago and offered advice to people who live online. "Think of your energy as if it's expensive, as if it's like a luxury item," she said. "Not everyone can afford it." Holding Kelce's hand, her vulnerability and willingness to be open shined in stark contrast to previous relationships. The transparency may be the biggest takeaway even though her fandom will be pausing the video and dissecting every pixel hoping to find "Easter egg" clues in the bookshelves behind the couple. She spoke about her dad Scott's recovery from quintuple bypass and mom Andrea's knee replacement surgery. Both are doing well. Her dad is still handing out guitar picks, this time to hospital staff. "But he didn't have his pants on," she added. Her favorite hobby is sourdough bread. "I'm talking about bread 60% of the time," she joked before listing the varieties of bread she "kneads": blueberry lemon (Kelce's favorite), cinnamon raisin and rainbow funfetti. And a woman after a punster's heart, her favorite post-baking tradition is to come up with a witty reference to one of her hit songs: "Are you bready for it?" "Flour song is the slamming screen door." "It's a loaf story, baby just say yeast." "Should've said dough." "Loafing him was bread." Contributing: Brendan Morrow
