Kaden Honeycutt To Replace An Injured Stewart Friesen
Honeycutt will replace Stewart Friesen in the Halmar Friesen Racing No. 52 truck, which has already qualified for the playoffs via Friesen's Michigan win. However, Friesen was severely injured in an accident during the Super DIRTcar Series race at Canada's Autodrome Drummond last weekend. He will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing numerous surgeries in New York.
'While I continue to recover, it was important for us to put someone in our truck that can help us compete at the highest level,' Friesen said. 'I know Kaden will deliver strong performance in our truck and allow us to continue to run for the owner's championship.'
Friesen, a well-known dirt track racer, has been competing in the Truck Series full time since 2017. Honeycutt will not race for the team this weekend at Watkins Glen International, as Cup Series driver and 2017 Truck Series champion Christopher Bell will take the helm.
'It's an honor to be able to fill in for Stewart for the rest of the season and help give his team a chance at the owner's championship, which they earned. I'm excited to compete in contending, race-winning equipment as I pursue a title this season,' Honeycutt said. 'We are going to work hard to have a solid final eight races of the season and continue to deliver great results for Stewart, his family and this organization.'
The move is a major one for Honeycutt, who goes from the Chevrolet development program to the crowded Toyota pipeline. It is likely he will continue to compete in the Truck Series next year, with rumors he will join Tricon Garage.
Honeycutt is currently eighth on the playoff grid and will need a waiver if he qualifies for the postseason.

Traffic on the Long Island Expressway may soon get worse as N.Y.'s Clean Pass is set to end
In just a few weeks, experts predict traffic on the Long Island Expressway is expected to get worse. That's because a federal program allowing electric vehicles into the express HOV lane is set to end. Many experts predict it will cause a shift in traffic patterns. Under New York's Clean Pass Program, drivers of electric vehicles were allowed to travel in the high occupancy vehicle, or HOV, lane on the LIE, even if they were driving alone. Crews finished building the HOV lane back in 2005. About a year later, the Clean Pass Program was introduced, initially as a pilot. There are now almost 80,000 electric vehicles registered on Long Island, and nearly 50,000 of them are signed up for the program. The state Department of Transportation recently sent out thousands of notices to participants, saying "Congress and the president have not reauthorized this program," and "it will end on September 30th." Transportation experts predict the change will cause a mess on the highway since it will push those vehicles into regular traffic lanes. "Losing this perk is going to hurt a lot of people," Robert Sinclair of AAA said. "During rush hours, it will make for more traffic." Sustainable transportation advocates call it too abrupt of an ending. "There is capacity on the HOV lane and at some point, you'll run out and the program would have to end, but you could have changed what vehicles had access to it," said Rosemary Mascali, chair of the Drive Electric LI Education and Outreach Committee. "You could have said, starting in September, hybrids can no longer participate because you don't get as great fuel efficiency." "This is worsening the idea and it's going to make the DOT rethink the whole idea of an HOV lane. Maybe they'd like to put it in places with more buses," said Marjaneh Issapour of the Renewable Energy & Sustainability Center at Farmingdale State College. Deer Park resident Peter Vanzandt owns an electric vehicle, and says it cut the time of his daily commute in New York City in half. That might not be the case very much longer. "Part of the reason why I bought the car was for that perk, so I am not so happy," he said. Supporters of the Clean Pass Program, like the nonprofit Renewable Energy Long Island, are calling for an extension "for further studies of congestion issues and the benefits for human health and the environment." CBS News New York spoke with some drivers who had mixed reactions. "Returning back to the original use of high occupancy is fine with me," Dennis Sullivan said. "I think it's a sad thing. We want to encourage people to use electric," Greenport resident Ann Plyler said. New York's DOT said it stands ready to continue the Clean Pass Program if Congress and the president move to extend authorization.

Detroit made the moves Thursday after coach Dan Campbell lamented that Rakestraw was hurt a year after injuries limited him to eight games as a rookie. 'You hate it for the kid,' Campbell said earlier this week. 'It's not his fault, just one of those tough deals. All you can do is try to get it better and rehab, come back stronger and move on.' Detroit drafted the former Missouri star in the second round last year and his season ended in mid-November after various ailments kept him off the field. Stilianos provides depth at tight end for exhibition games, limiting snaps for starter Sam LaPorta and veteran backups Brock Wright and Shane Zylstra. Paige Bueckers is expected to be available for Friday's game between the Dallas Wings and New York Liberty despite dealing with tightness on her back. She has scored at least 20 points in Dallas' last four outings despite losing their last three games. Bueckers leads the struggling Wings in points, assists and steals. The Wings are facing a Liberty team that has been performing poorly for their standards in recent weeks. After a 13-6 start to their campaign, the defending WNBA champions went on a four-game skid before stringing wins over the Connecticut Sun and the Wings. The Liberty own a 19-10 record and are second in the WNBA behind the Minnesota Lynx, who have a comfortable 25-5 standing.
