Traffic policeman charged with murder
Genesis Nitchell David Reddy, 30, is charged with fatally shooting Muhammad Zaki Iderus, 34, in a car in Jalan Stephen Yong, here on April 26.
He nodded after the charge was read out before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali, but no plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Genesis, represented by lawyers Russell Lim dan Brandon Ting, from the National Legal Aid Foundation, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides the death penalty or imprisonment for not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years and not less than 12 strokes of the cane if convicted.
The court set June 10 for mention.

Knife-wielding woman arrested after ramming motorcycles, hurting six in Kajang
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a 24-year-old foreign woman who allegedly drove recklessly, crashed into three motorcycles, and attacked road users with a knife in Bandar Kajang today. Two of the victims were warded for further treatment, while the other four received outpatient care. The three motorcycles involved were damaged. The suspect will be remanded tomorrow under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years' imprisonment if convicted. Investigations are also being conducted under Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless driving, which is punishable with up to six months' jail or a fine not exceeding RM2,000, and under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving, which carries a maximum penalty of a RM10,000 fine and 12 months' jail. Naazron urged those with information about the case to contact the nearest police station or investigating officer Inspector Nursyaza Farhah Samhairi at 017-691 9817.

Police officer injured in scuffle outside Parliament
Police have confirmed that an officer has sustained injuries from the scuffle which happened during a memorandum submission outside Parliament this morning. Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said in a statement today that a report has been lodged following the incident, and that an investigation paper has also been opened under Section 353/427 of the Penal Code.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched an investigation into a scuffle between demonstrators and officers during a protest at Jalan Parlimen today, after videos of the incident went viral on social media. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said TikTok footage showed participants provoking and charging at law enforcement personnel who were on duty to maintain order during the memorandum submission. "One officer sustained injuries as a result of the clash and has received medical treatment," he said in a statement. An investigation has been opened under Sections 353 and 427 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging duties, and for committing mischief resulting in damage to property. Fadil reiterated that the police uphold the public's constitutional right to assemble peacefully, but warned that firm action would be taken against anyone inciting unrest or engaging in excessive provocation.
