Sweden boss reveals Alexander Isak talks over 'extremely complex' Liverpool transfer situation
Isak wants to leave St James' Park and was the subject of a £110m offer from Liverpool at the start of August having opted against taking part in the Magpies' pre-season tour of the Far East by citing a minor thigh issue.
The striker, who finished second to Mohamed Salah in the Premier League's scoring charts last season with 23 goals, was absent for Newcastle at the weekend as they drew 0-0 with 10-man Aston Villa at Villa Park in their first game of the new campaign.

Magpies manager Eddie Howe has been subjected to a barrage of questions over Isak's future for the best part of a month after he was left out of their first friendly of the summer at Celtic.
And the No.14 has reportedly indicated he won't play again for his current employers after seeing former sporting director Paul Mitchell pull the plug on talks over an improved contract last season.
Liverpool are awaiting encouragement from Newcastle to return with an improved offer and Isak could yet be the subject of British-record transfer talks between the clubs before the September 1 deadline.
Tomasson, who took charge of the Sweden national team last year, played for Newcastle in the 1997-98 season, but he dismissed suggestions that his forward is a disruptive influence.
'First of all, Alex is an extremely professional player," Tomasson is quoted as telling Fotbollskanalen.
"(He is) A fantastic character and personality. I have spoken to Alex a lot during this period.
'Situations like this are quite complex. These are extremely complex environments that the players operate in.
'I'm sure it will work out in the end, but you have to know the whole picture before you draw conclusions. That's always a good tip.
'I don't think we know (the full story). I don't know the whole picture either. It's quite normal because there's a lot of politics in a football club.
'But one thing is for sure: Alex is a great guy and very professional. We should all be very careful about drawing conclusions because we don't know the bigger picture.
"There is time. He is a professional and I know he has been training.
'Of course, he hasn't trained with a team and hasn't played any matches. Let's wait and see.
'We will have a good chat, Alex and I, and hopefully he will be back in team training soon."

Liverpool's potential transfers this week include Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi
As the transfer deadline day looms for Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League, there's still a window for deals to be finalized. Anfield has been a hive of activity in recent months, with numerous signings and departures. This summer, Liverpool has welcomed Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Giovanni Leoni, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman to their ranks, and more additions could be on the horizon. Conversely, Liverpool has bid farewell to Caoimhin Kelleher - who had a tough debut for Brentford on Sunday - Jarell Quansah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tyler Morton, and Nat Phillips this summer. Just as with the arrivals, there's a good chance that more players might be shown the exit door. READ MORE: Darwin Nunez shows his true colors after Liverpool transfer exit to Saudi Arabia READ MORE: Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Alexander Isak deadline, Ibrahima Konate talks, Marc Guehi latest Over the next week, Liverpool will gear up for its second Premier League game of the season against Newcastle. But before the team heads to St. James' Park, there's bound to be plenty of chatter about potential new recruits and possible departures from Anfield. In terms of incoming talent, Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi are names that continue to be associated with a move to Anfield. Regarding Isak, it was reported earlier this month that a second offer from the Reds is unlikely after an initial £110 million ($148.9 million) bid was turned down by Newcastle. Liverpool is reportedly still in discussions with Crystal Palace regarding a potential deal for center-back Guehi, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season. It remains uncertain whether the Reds will be successful in signing both players within the next week. In terms of departures, Ben Doak appears to be on the brink of leaving, with a £25 million ($33.9 million) deal with Bournemouth nearing completion following an agreement reached over the weekend. Kostas Tsimikas, the Greek international, could also potentially exit Liverpool this week. Having been absent from the matchday squad for the last two games, he may be heading for the door, with Kerkez and Andy Robertson as alternative left-back options in the team. Harvey Elliott continues to be linked with a move away from Liverpool, with rumors of a possible deal with RB Leipzig. While chatter about Elliott's departure has quietened recently, it wouldn't be surprising to see speculation about his Merseyside exit resurface in the coming days.

Liverpool players have made their minds up on Federico Chiesa amid Rodrygo conundrum
Liverpool's players will be unfazed if their rivals Manchester City manage to secure the services of Real Madrid's Rodrygo, as they're content with Federico Chiesa - the hero against Bournemouth. Speculation about City's interest in winger Rodrygo has been rife recently, with the potential deal for a player who was on both Liverpool and Arsenal's radar over the summer thought to depend on the future of Savinho. Despite only joining City last year, Savinho is already being touted for an exit from the Etihad. Tottenham has been in discussions to sign the player, with City hoping to command a fee around £70 million ($94.5 million). READ MORE: Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Alexander Isak deadline, Ibrahima Konate talks, Marc Guehi latest READ MORE: Darwin Nunez shows his true colors after Liverpool transfer exit to Saudi Arabia If City were to achieve their full asking price for Savinho, it would provide the necessary funds to chase a move for Rodrygo, who is up for grabs in Madrid following Xabi Alonso's appointment as head coach. The Reds themselves were linked with Rodrygo earlier in the transfer window before those rumours died down. However, Liverpool seems satisfied with Chiesa, whose departure has been speculated all summer - after a somewhat challenging stint on Merseyside since his arrival last summer - prior to his heroic performance against Bournemouth on Friday. Anfield witnessed a thrilling comeback attempt by the Cherries, who managed to equalise from two goals down, courtesy of Antoine Semenyo's double. However, Chiesa, coming off the bench, netted Liverpool's third in the 88th minute, followed by Mohamed Salah adding a fourth shortly after. The joy among Liverpool's stars was palpable as Chiesa found the back of the net. Chiesa had a challenging first season in England, grappling with a winter injury and adjusting under Arne Slot's management. Despite only making 16 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions last term, the 27-year-old Italian has endeared himself to his team-mates. Known for his friendly demeanour and constant encouragement of others, he is a valued member of Slot's squad, even amidst on-pitch difficulties. His recent performance against Bournemouth suggests that he's gearing up to play a more significant role in the team's success this season. Whether this remains the case could hinge on Savinho's departure, something Pep Guardiola, who has spoken highly of his player, has hinted may not occur. During a press conference before City's season-opening victory over Wolves, Guardiola addressed the rumors about Savinho's potential departure. "If Tottenham in that case - or any other club - wants a player, they should call the club right?" he said. "It's the same like we do. I'm only concerned right now, today, that Savinho will be with us until the end of the season. "And, hopefully, for many, many years. He's 21 years old with the potential that he has. He's played a lot of minutes, he has to improve in the final decisions. But he's an extraordinary player, otherwise he would not have played more than 3,000 minutes."
