Valencia hits back at Netflix documentary on Vinicius Jr with legal threat

has strongly objected to Netflix over the latter's new documentary starring Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior. The film has been released with the title "Baila, Vini" and it seems to have further divided opinion in the footballing world.
Valencia CF is aggrieved with the manner in which the club is depicted alongside the racist incident which happened during a game in Mestalla Stadium in May 2023, where some supporters sitting behind the Brazilian international carried out racist abuse towards him.
Valencia threatens legal action over "inaccurate portrayal"
Valencia CF has officially announced plans to sue Netflix, stating that the documentary series showcases a warped narrative concerning the club and wrongly damages its reputation.
According to club representatives, Valencia CF did and still does condemn the horrific racist event and ban the perpetrators. However, the documentary portrays their response as being devoid of context, alongside the positive actions they took against racism.
The club released a statement saying:
"The documentary makes serious allegations that do not reflect reality and damage our image. We took immediate action against those responsible for the racist behavior, but this crucial fact is ignored in the film."
Impact on Spanish football's anti-racism efforts
The argument brings up racism issues in Spain's football. La Liga's president, Javier Tebas, has had issues with Vinicius Junior over racist controversies, where the Brazilian was not satisfied with the measures La Liga took to fight the 'non-issue'.

Netflix still defends the film, which contains interviews with
Vinicius Jr
and other black footballers who recounted their experiences of racism while playing in Europe.
According to Netflix, extensive research and testimonies have been substantiated, which affirms that the documentary's narrative is true.
The emergence of the controversy comes at a time when Spanish football authorities have been encouraged to show action reverencing the fight against racism. Observers think this long-standing and publicised argument might remove some of the red tape around the implementation of new protocols as well as the punitive measures against racist conduct during matches in the lower and upper leagues of Spain.

India's highest-paid OTT actor earned ₹125 crore for 7 episodes, more than Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan's salary

He is likely to earn a little more for his film Radhe which was also released in the same year. Besides them, Saif Ali Khan who became the first superstar of Bollywood to foray into OTT with Netflix's Sacred Games, charged way less than Ajay. He was reportedly paid ₹ 15-20 for the latest, Sacred Games season 2. Even, Varun Dhawan earned between ₹ 12-15 crore for Citadel: Honey Bunny, reported Hindustan Times. As per a report of GQ, other promiment OTT stars such as Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have received payments between ₹ 5-10 crore for their OTT shows. Jaideep Ahlawat reportedly received ₹ 20 crore as his salary for Patal Lok Season 2. Ajay was last seen in Raid 2. He has several projects in the pipeline, including Son of Sardaar 2, De De Pyaar De 2 and Dhamaal 4. However, all of these will see a theatrical release.

New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): Former Proteas head coach Mark Boucher believes that if South Africa can gun down the reigning World Test Champions, Australia, it could mark the beginning of a new era. He also identified two youngsters who could be the key to their success in the upcoming final at Lord's. South Africa earned a spot in the WTC final after winning seven consecutive Tests and finished at the top of the table standings. After getting a shot at ending their trophy drought, South Africa found itself surrounded by criticism, considering they had just played 12 fixtures to fight for the WTC mace. 'A lot of people have criticised South Africa, which is not really fair. You play what's in front of you, and with all due respect, the sides that we've played against, we probably should have beaten, and we've done that. So we find ourselves in a final. But I wouldn't say that it has got the crowds going in our country,' Boucher told ESPNcricinfo during the IPL. 'Everyone's very excited about it now as the opportunity arises, a lot of people are going to travel over to London, spend all their Rands and go watch what should be a good match. 'And Tristan Stubbs has come back and played a lot of domestic cricket and basically forced his way into the Test side because of the runs that he's got. On paper, Australia will probably feel that they've got a better batting line-up than what we have, but have we got the attitude to go out there and in a one-off game, just leave it all out there?
