Louise, 23, was a DJ at Manchester's legendary Hacienda club at the time and was killed on her way to a gig.
She had been raising Jay as a single parent but thankfully his grandparents jumped in and raised him.
Jay, who has three children of his own, has now shared his gratitude for Ann and Mike Kontzle "giving up their lives" and stepping in.
His nan Ann even had to take on two jobs to financially support Jay throughout his childhood.

Speaking to The Mirror, Jay said: They gave up their whole lives to push me forward.
"They got nothing for it and had no reason to do it other than their love for me.
'I would have been put in foster care and not enjoying the life I have now if my grandparents hadn't taken me in.'
Jay went on to say his grandparents' support coupled with therapy was "life-saving" for him.

He said he felt "valued as a kid" as he took part in toy therapy.
Jay spoke to the publication in connection with Mental Health Awareness Week.
Emmerdale's Joe Tate and Dawn Fletcher affair 'rumbled' - as villager plots sneaky revenge
Jay has played Billy Fletcher in Emmerdale since December 2018.
He had previously worked as a teaching assistant and dabbled in a pop career with boy band The Mend.

The group was formed by Take That mastermind Nigel Martin-Smith in 2008 but they failed to hit the big time.
In 2011, Jay and his The Mend bandmates - Kris Evans, Dean Kelly and Craig Worsley - made it to boot camp on The X Factor.
The group then went on to make it to the semi-finals on Britain's Got Talent the following year.
Now in Emmerdale, Jay is currently at the centre of a huge storyline that has seen his character Billy arrested for Joe Tate's attempted murder.

It comes after he discovered the bad boy had been romping with his wife Dawn Taylor behind his back.
Jay told The Mirror he identifies with his character Billy, who together with Dawn are trying to protect their adoptive daughter Clemmie amidst the drama.
Clemmie, whose real mum was a drug addict, is believed to be Joe's real attacker after she was told by the menace that she would 'go back into care' if she exposed his affair with Dawn.
Jay explained: "Although Dawn is not related to Clemmie, she was her mother's friend who stepped in to look after - rather than see her in foster care, so it's very similar to kinship care."

Love Island star recalls how she delivered baby sister at home with shoelace

EXCLUSIVE: Love Island 2025 star Alima Gagigo has opened up about the extraordinary moment she delivered her baby sister at home - and she's determined to make a difference in the villa Love Island stunner Alima Gagigo is already making headlines - and not just for her villa debut. In a story that's as jaw-dropping as it is heartwarming, the 23-year-old Londoner has revealed she once delivered her baby sister at home using a shoelace to tie the umbilical cord. The incident happened in January 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic took hold. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, ahead of the brand new series kicking off on Monday June 9, Alima shared the extraordinary moment that proved she's not just reality TV-ready - she's resilient under pressure, too. ‌ 'Yeah! It was back in January 2020. My sister's a COVID baby,' she said. 'It was just me and my mum at home, and the labour was 15 minutes. I had to tie the umbilical cord with a shoelace while on the phone with paramedics. It was scary but amazing looking back.' ‌ Alima is a wealth management client services executive living in Glasgow. Now, the educated beauty is swapping emergency home births for bikinis and bombshell drama in the sun-soaked Love Island villa, and she's determined to make a difference while doing it. Representation, she says, is front and centre. '100%. When I watched the show last year, seeing girls like Whitney made a difference,' Alima told us. 'If I can be that person this year, it could give confidence to others who might want to go on the show in the future. Representation really matters.' Alima, who describes her hair plans as 'glueless wigs - closures instead of frontals,' is stepping into the ITV2 spotlight following in the footsteps of fan favourite love island star Whitney Adebayo, who starred on the 10th series joining as a bombshell. And it turns out Whitney's already showing love for her fellow Islander. 'I actually didn't know that - this is the first time I'm hearing it!' she said when told of Whitney's online support. 'I follow her and absolutely loved her journey. As another dark-skinned woman, I could really relate. Maybe she supports me because she knows what I might be going through.' The support from her circle has also been overwhelming, with her family cheering her on from the sidelines. ‌ 'Everyone's buzzing! Friends and family are super excited. My mum was especially excited - taking pictures and everything when she dropped me at the airport!' And while Love Island's latest season is already making headlines - ITV bosses recently confirmed they won't shy away from showing sex on screen if it happens - Alima admits she is 'going to stay true to myself.' 'On the outside, I don't really do that kind of thing, so I don't think I'll be getting up to much in the villa either.' ‌ That down-to-earth energy is exactly what fans are already loving. Alima, who says she's 'not really anxious' about how she'll be perceived as a Black woman on the show, is focused on being authentic. 'Seeing girls like Whitney and Mimii [Ngulube] last year who were themselves and came across amazing gave me confidence,' she added. 'I want to be fully myself, regardless of stereotypes.' She's not afraid to laugh either - especially when it comes to her biggest dating ick. ‌ 'Honestly, if someone rapped or sang to me and it was bad - I wouldn't know what to say. If it's good, then fair enough, but if As the 2025 series kicks off with a fresh group of hopefuls and more drama promised than ever before, Alima is clearly more than ready to hit the villa. Emmerdale star teases soap crossover with real-life Coronation Street siblings

Emmerdale actress Amelia Flanagan addressed whether it's possible her character will feature in scenes with her real-life Coronation Street brother and sister amid a crossover There's a soap crossover on the way, and one Emmerdale star is hopeful it will mean she gets to team up with her real-life Coronation Street siblings. Amelia Flanagan spoke exclusively to The Mirror about her excitement for the big soap twist, confirmed by ITV recently. With Amelia, who plays April Windsor on the soap, having siblings on Corrie it could well mean they feature in scenes together for the first time ever. ‌ Nothing has been revealed yet in terms of which characters from both soaps will be in the episodes, but we know at least one star from each show will interact. With talks of a public vote, it's not known who will be in those scenes. ‌ With Amelia hoping to film with her her fellow soap stars and brother and sister William and Isabella Flanagan in what would be an epic opportunity for the talented siblings, could we see the trio on the same episode at the same time? Amelia certainly would love to see it happen, with fans also questioning whether they might get the go ahead. Amelia told us at The British Soap Awards 2025: "I think everything is still in the pipeline at the moment, so we will have to watch this space and see what happens. It would be brilliant to explore that crossover because there's three of us in the soaps. "It would be incredible, and it's very exciting. So fingers crossed we get some scenes together. It's never been done before, the crossover, and so much could happen." At the awards, Amelia burst into tears as she was awarded the trophy for Best Young Performer, a category her younger brother William was also nominated for in his role as Corrie's Joseph Brown. William gave his sister a standing ovation and applauded her when the result came in. In a sweet moment she supported him right back, mentioning him in her winners speech. Sobbing as she clutched the award, she told the audience: "This means everything. I just want to say, my little brother who I love so much." ‌ Amelia went on to thank everyone at Emmerdale, before concluding with tears in her eyes: "Thank you so much, this means the world to me." The siblings later hung out together and with their co-stars at the afterparty, also joined by their parents. Amelia also spoke to us about what's ahead for her character after a huge year on the show. With a return on the cards for character Dylan Penders, Amelia told us: "April has had an incredibly tough year with what she has been through, with the pregnancy and the homelessness storyline. April and Dylan didn't leave things on the best terms, but I think what is important now is that he's back. "Who knows what will happen. It will be great to explore that relationship further, I think fans want to see that which is great." Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.

Emmerdale who helps Robert Sugden 'bring down' villain John 'confirmed'

Emmerdale star Mike Parr teased a possible teaming up twist for his character Ross Barton and Robert Sugden on the ITV soap, amd it might be bad news for killer john Sugden Two characters could team up to take down Emmerdale villain John Sugden, and one of them might be a little unexpected. Robert Sugden is hotly tipped to target his love rival and half-brother John, following John's wedding to his ex Aaron Dingle. Ryan Hawley reprised his role in a major twist six years after he left the show in a recent episode. ‌ Robert is soon returning full-time, and fans are so ready for him to possibly uncover the truth about John's crimes, including the murder of Nate Robinson. But will another character team up with Robert and help him target John in a twist? ‌ One cast member certainly thinks it would be a good twist when we quizzed them about the possibility of it happening. Mike Parr, who plays Ross Barton, spoke exclusively to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards. He teased Ross could tease up with Robert in a separate plot, to possibly pave the way for the return of Robert's son and Ross' stepson Seb. But we took the moment to see how far Ross and Robert teaming up could go, and whether it could lead to the characters trying to bring down killer John. We asked about whether Ross might help Robert to get John, and he said: "Ooh yeah that would be good! If they can take him out to stop him taking other people out. John is always there at the right time, no one's noticed that yet." With Ross actor Mike keen to see the pair join forces, could it lead to a twist with John? As for the plot with Seb, Mike shared: "That was my first question. "I thought surely either we are gonna be fighting over this kid or we will try to get him back. I don't know which I would rather, I mean I tried to shoot him, he stole my weed the last time he was there. ‌ "They are always fighting but they might be a good team to work together, and maybe it would be good if they did join forces." Mike also addressed the return of Robert, saying it was exciting for the fans. He shared: "When you get a character who you maybe haven't always been involved with but you know it's gonna be a huge positive for the show, it's going to be huge. For the audience it's so important, and it's someone they're loud over. "I knew that they would be over the moon and I'm so happy for them." Viewers are hoping for a Robron reunion for Robert and Aaron now that they are both back in the village. It's not just viewers though, with stars Natalie J Robb and Bradley Riches clearly backing the reunion too. They told us at the awards: "Hashtag Robron!"
