Sky Mobile's unlimited data deal cuts £108 off price and is cheaper than O2 and Vodafone

Daily Record04-06-2025
Sky Mobile has cut the price of its unlimited data plan, offering unlimited data for £20 a month, that's cheaper than O2 and Vodafone right now
Sky Mobile has launched a surprise sale, slashing the price tags on various device tariffs, with its SIM-only plans among the top bargains. The move sees Sky joining the ranks of O2 and Vodafone, both of whom are currently running sales, heralding an opportune moment for consumers mulling over a new SIM.
Data-hungry users may find Sky Mobile's unlimited data offer particularly tempting, as it beats both O2 and Vodafone in the cost-effectiveness stakes amid the ongoing sale. Marked down by £9 monthly, Sky offers unlimited data at £20 per month.
A discount from the regular price of £29 a month, it's a £108 saving across the first year of the 24-month contract term. This edges out the competition with O2 priced at £22 and Vodafone at £24 monthly for similar plans.
Sky imposes no limit to data usage, customers can surf and stream to their heart's content. Coupled with 5G capabilities – courtesy of O2's network infrastructure – Sky presents a compelling choice for heavy data consumers.

The package is sweetened with European roaming options (though travellers should verify country coverage) and includes limitless calling and messaging services.
While Sky Mobile consistently garners praise for excellent value, consumers would do well to weigh up the myriad benefits of alternative providers. Usually vigilant checks on network coverage are advisable, but given Sky Mobile's shared network with O2, connectivity issues with one will invariably affect the other.
Vodafone might be your best bet in this case. Their Unlimited Plus package is slightly pricier (it'll set you back an extra £48 in the first year) and boasts a top speed of 100Mbps - shop the deal here.
Currently discounted, Vodafone Unlimited Plus is now just £24 per month, down from £33, saving shoppers £108 over the first year, in line with Sky's offer. O2 is also having a sale, with discounts on unlimited data.
The O2 Unlimited plan is available for £22 per month in an online-only deal. While this tariff doesn't include all the Extras that come with some of the pricier plans, it does offer unlimited data at a fantastic price.
These summer sales won't last forever, with O2's sale wrapping up on 4 June, and Sky Mobile nearing the end of its Week of Treats. It's worth noting that these are SIM-only deals, so shoppers need to purchase the phone separately.
This comes with a benefit, as it allows you to change your phone as often as you wish and gives you the freedom to hunt for the best deals, buy refurbished devices or get your hands on the latest phones as soon as they hit the market.

It's one of Glasgow's biggest American-Classical-style commercial buildings UNDER WRAPS Inside 'secret' plans to turn iconic Glasgow building into 'one of Europe's finest hotels' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) PLANS are in progress to transform an iconic Glasgow building into one of Europe's "finest" hotels. The B-listed 95 Bothwell Street building in the city centre is understood to be mostly empty. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Plans have been lodged with Glasgow City Council to transform 95 Bothwell Street Credit: Google Maps It's one of Glasgow's biggest American Classical-style commercial buildings. Proposals to turn it into a 235-room hotel have been submitted to the council. But details about the hotel company eyeing to take over the building have been kept under wraps. A statement about the proposed design read: 'The proposed confidential hotel operator is particularly excited about the potential provided by the building to create a best-in-class hotel of distinction, which they anticipate will be one of the finest in their operator's European portfolio. 'The listed building is soon to become entirely unoccupied. The commercial office use for which the building was built and designed is no longer viable. "The building has early indications of corrosion of the structural steel frame, which needs to be addressed to prevent damage to the significant external masonry façade. 'The proposed development is conservation-led and will integrate and repurpose the significant parts of the listed building into the new hotel use, whilst retaining its external appearance and presence within the street.' HFD Property Group Limited has lodged a planning permission request to alter the use of the building from 'offices at upper floors and restaurant/cafe and retail on ground floor to hotel". The proposals also include constructing a two-storey roof extension. Glasgow City Council is considering the application.

Giffgaff's 50p 'unlimited everything' deal is £180 off and rivals EE, O2 and Three

Giffgaff has slashed £180 off its 'best ever' unlimited data, calls and texts plan. Giffgaff has launched an unlimited data deal to rival major networks like EE, O2 and Three. On Friday (August 15), giffgaff announced it has slashed £180 off its 'unlimited everything' plan, offering unlimited data, calls and texts for £15 per month. Usually priced at £25, the price cut means customers will pay 50p per day over a 30-day period. The plan – which giffgaff calls its 'best ever' – also provides 5GB of inclusive roaming in the EU and select destinations. It's available on an 18-month contract, with customers receiving a £10 discount each month to a total of £180. Giffgaff runs on the O2 network, with coverage including 5G at no extra cost in areas where 5G is available on the 'unlimited everything' plan. The provider also allows new customers to keep their existing phone number. After the minimum term the plan will revert to the usual £25, but at this point customers are no longer tied into any contract. For those looking for a new phone to go with their data plan, giffgaff has knocked £80 off the iPhone 16e – Apple's latest model. It now comes in at £539 when paying up front, or £14.42 per month over 36 months with a £20 upfront payment. Announcing the new 'unlimited everything' deal, Ash Schofield, CEO at giffgaff, said: 'We're always looking for ways to improve our SIM plans to make life a little easier for our members, so we're proud to launch this absolute steal of a deal. Not only that, but while many other network providers increased their prices this year, we stuck to our commitment to no mid-contract price rises, so our members can rest easy that their mobile bill will stay the same for the length of their contract.' Giffgaff isn't the only brand tempting new customers this month, as Currys-backed retailer is giving away £120 cashback with select SIM plans. The deal is with iD Mobile's 50GB SIM only plan, which usually costs £8 per month. However, this essentially works out at £3 per month across the 24-month contract after cashback. Elsewhere, Sky Mobile is throwing in a pair of free Galaxy Buds3 Pro worth £219 with its £22 Samsung Galaxy S25 package. But for those sticking with giffgaff, the company has earned thousands of positive ratings from customers, as one five-star review says: 'Giffgaff offer a simple, straightforward service with competitor beating prices. I have never had problems with their coverage and I have been with them for many years now. I honestly don't think that there's a better provider out there.' Another says: 'Good service and value for money. Monthly contract means you can change the contract each month if you need more or less data, calls or texts in the coming month. No call centre but all issues are quickly fixed in the community section of the website or app.' This customer offered a more mixed review, saying: 'Would like an easy way via email or phone etc to contact giffgaff when an issue occurs. You provide a good service, but contacting giffgaff not easy.' While another glowing review says: 'Very fair prices, excellent customer service. A website that is easy to negotiate and good communications. The best mobile company I have been with.'
