Giffgaff's 50p 'unlimited everything' deal is £180 off and rivals EE, O2 and Three
Giffgaff has launched an unlimited data deal to rival major networks like EE, O2 and Three. On Friday (August 15), giffgaff announced it has slashed £180 off its 'unlimited everything' plan, offering unlimited data, calls and texts for £15 per month.
Usually priced at £25, the price cut means customers will pay 50p per day over a 30-day period. The plan – which giffgaff calls its 'best ever' – also provides 5GB of inclusive roaming in the EU and select destinations.
It's available on an 18-month contract, with customers receiving a £10 discount each month to a total of £180. Giffgaff runs on the O2 network, with coverage including 5G at no extra cost in areas where 5G is available on the 'unlimited everything' plan.
The provider also allows new customers to keep their existing phone number. After the minimum term the plan will revert to the usual £25, but at this point customers are no longer tied into any contract.
For those looking for a new phone to go with their data plan, giffgaff has knocked £80 off the iPhone 16e – Apple's latest model. It now comes in at £539 when paying up front, or £14.42 per month over 36 months with a £20 upfront payment.
Announcing the new 'unlimited everything' deal, Ash Schofield, CEO at giffgaff, said: 'We're always looking for ways to improve our SIM plans to make life a little easier for our members, so we're proud to launch this absolute steal of a deal. Not only that, but while many other network providers increased their prices this year, we stuck to our commitment to no mid-contract price rises, so our members can rest easy that their mobile bill will stay the same for the length of their contract.'
Giffgaff isn't the only brand tempting new customers this month, as Currys-backed retailer Mobiles.co.uk is giving away £120 cashback with select SIM plans. The deal is with iD Mobile's 50GB SIM only plan, which usually costs £8 per month.
However, this essentially works out at £3 per month across the 24-month contract after cashback. Elsewhere, Sky Mobile is throwing in a pair of free Galaxy Buds3 Pro worth £219 with its £22 Samsung Galaxy S25 package.
But for those sticking with giffgaff, the company has earned thousands of positive ratings from customers, as one five-star review says: 'Giffgaff offer a simple, straightforward service with competitor beating prices. I have never had problems with their coverage and I have been with them for many years now. I honestly don't think that there's a better provider out there.'
Another says: 'Good service and value for money. Monthly contract means you can change the contract each month if you need more or less data, calls or texts in the coming month. No call centre but all issues are quickly fixed in the community section of the website or app.'
This customer offered a more mixed review, saying: 'Would like an easy way via email or phone etc to contact giffgaff when an issue occurs. You provide a good service, but contacting giffgaff not easy.'
While another glowing review says: 'Very fair prices, excellent customer service. A website that is easy to negotiate and good communications. The best mobile company I have been with.'

Apple iPhone drops to £150 and hundreds cut off iPads and MacBooks in Wowcher bonanza
Wowcher is offering Apple devices including iPhones and Apple Watches with these deals that offer affordable alternatives to shopping direct Apple products usually come with hefty price tags, but there are ways to save hundreds of pounds if you know where to look. Shoppers looking to upgrade their tech without breaking the bank can find countless budget-friendly gadgets at Wowcher, as the deal site offers discounted products from premium brands like Apple. By opting for Wowcher over Apple direct, shoppers can find a range of deals to suit any need and budget, with discounts on everything from iPhone 13 and iPads to Apple Watches and MacBooks. The main thing to consider is that these deals are for refurbished tech, with the prices often dependent on their condition. Regardless of their cosmetic condition, Wowcher assures that each device offers 'full functionality', providing shoppers with a significant saving to buying brand-new. With this in mind, we've scoured the site and hand picked some of our favourite deals on Apple devices. Here are five of our favourite Apple deals available at Wowcher. iPhone 13 – £249 First up is this refurbished MacBook Air 13', coming with a 48% discount compared to the usual £480 price tag. Powered by Apple's A15 Bionic chip, this model boasts a Super Retina XDR display, an 'advanced' dual-camera system and up to 19 hours of video playback on a single charge. Available in blue, green and red, this model first hit the market in 2021 but is still compatible with the latest iOS updates through to 2027. The price quoted is for the 128GB model in 'acceptable' condition so it may show some signs of cosmetic wear. Shoppers can upgrade to larger storage and better conditions for £300, which is still cheaper than Currys ' refurbished deal in 'good' condition for £348.97. iPad Mini (5th Generation) – £135 Shoppers looking for a budget-friendly tablet can pick up this iPad Mini (5th generation) for £135. Released in 2019, the lightweight and portable tablet weighs only 308g but can still perform demanding tasks thanks to Apple's A12 Bionic Chip. The iPad has a 7.9' Retina Display and 8MP rear camera, along with a 10-hour battery life and 64GB capacity. This model also comes in 'acceptable' condition, with the 'very good' model coming in at £179. Those opting for the 'acceptable' version should note it will have 'minor' cosmetic marks, but Wowcher says full functionality is guaranteed after 'comprehensive testing'. Those preferring a new but affordable model may want to check out Sky Mobile 's rival deal, where the 2024 iPad Mini is available for £14.50 when spreading the cost over 48 months, with a small upfront cost of £6. Sky also has rival tech gadgets as part of its split plans too, including Samsung and Google devices for those who'd prefer an Adroid device. Apple Watch Series 8 – £210 This Apple Watch Series 8 is available for more than half the usual price from IncTablet for the 41mm model, with the slightly larger 45mm version starting at £225. This 2022 model of Apple's smartwatch offers a raft of features, including messaging, social media notifications and weather forecast, as well as monitoring of blood oxygen levels, ECG readings and exercise tracking. It's designed with a crack and dust resistant Retina Display and can even be used up to 50m underwater. The Series 8 is compatible with iPhone 8 or later running at least iOS 16, but buyers should note it will only support Apple's iOS software until 2026. However, shoppers happy to fork out a little more may want to check out the latest price cuts at Argos and Very, where the Apple Watch Series 10 – the latest model – is £100 off at £299. iPhone 11 Pro – £149 The 'Pro' models of the iPhone range provide a higher build quality and a more powerful battery compared to the standard versions, and this iPhone 11 Pro also comes with a £111 saving. Released in 2019, the 11 Pro can multitask thanks to Apple's A13 Bionic chip, while its triple-camera system offers ultra-wide, wide and telephoto lenses with night mode and 4K video recording. It boasts a 5.8' Super Retina XDR OLED display, 64GB of storage and has fast charging capabilities, but be aware it will only support Apple's iOS software until 2026. This particular deal is for a device in 'fair' condition, but shoppers can pay £50 extra to upgrade to an 'excellent' model. MacBook Air 13' – £149 It's not very often shoppers can find an Apple laptop in this price range, but Wowcher is offering the MacBook Air 13' for £149. Said to deliver smooth performance, this model is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and 4GB of RAM, with 128GB of storage and a high-resolution LED-backlit display. The main thing to note with this laptop is that it first launched in 2017, so it's towards the older age range of these Wowcher deals. According to the retailer, the MacBook Air shows a few signs of wear and tear but is in overall good shape. Elsewhere, Sky Mobile's deal on the 2025 Apple MacBook Air 13' M4 has proven popular among our readers, with many snapping it up on the £20 per month plan with £2 upfront.

This African country could be getting a massive new high-speed rail network
Sure, in Europe and Asia, high-speed rail is booming, but Time Out reported recently that huge plans for such railways to connect three major Moroccan cities were also in the works. Now, another African country is looking to take huge infrastructure leaps, and it just got one step closer to making those goals a reality. The country in question? That would be Nigeria, where on Tuesday August 12, a syndicate of construction companies and developers, De-Sadel Consortium, brought a high-speed rail proposal to the government. Set to be funded by the Asian Development Investment Bank (a China-backed institution, which is one of the largest of its kind on the planet), it's projected to cost a staggering – wait for it – $60 billion. According to Newsweek, the railway could stretch to 2,500 miles and the first phase of the project will connect the cities of Lagos, Aduja, Kano and Port Harcourt, with journey time between those first two cities slashed from 12 hours to a mere three. If approved, this first phase (which itself will cost an estimated $55 billion) will commence sometime in the next few years, once it has passed environmental authorisations, reports Ecofin Agency. 'The rail line is from Lagos to Abuja, to Kano, and from Abuja to Port Harcourt. So this is a very great work that the government has done. The federal government of Nigeria, through the ICRC, approved the outline business case,' said De-Sadel Consortium CEO Samuel Uko. 'And the next step now was for us to submit the proof of funds to the government, which we just did. So I believe in the shortest possible time, Nigeria will start enjoying high-speed rail in Nigeria.' So, while this project is still awaiting approval from the Government of the Federation, and there's no clear timeline for its completion yet, it all sounds like an exciting development for the region. Stay tuned for more updates.
