On Harshit Rana's Selection, BCCI Shown No Mercy: 'What Message Are You Giving?'
"I think he is doing really well in the IPL and in the game which he has played for India. I remember that concussion replacement game in Pune. I also remeber he got a Man of the Match in the last T20I he played for India. So, we back his skill. We know he has got that skill to deliver for India in this format," Suryakumar said.
However, Srikkanth was visibly upset while speaking on the selectors call to pick Harshit.
"Where did Harshit Rana come from? He was so poor in the IPL. He is being managed. He had an economy rate of 10 in the IPL. What message are you giving to Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj? Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel 'Cheeky Cheeka'.
Srikkanth was also unhappy with the balance of the team, saying that someone like a Washington Sundar should've been part of the team, instead of Shivam Dube.
"They will make Tilak Varma the sixth bowler. Is Abhishek Sharma going to be your sixth bowler or Shivam Dube? He hardly bowled in the IPL. This is an adjustment selection. If you needed someone who can bat and bowl at No. 8, Washington Sundar would have been ideal. Shivam Dube at No. 8 does not make any sense," he added.

Shreyas Iyer's father livid with BCCI after his son ignored for Asia Cup 2025: 'Let me tell you; he will just say...'
The controversy surrounding Shreyas Iyer's omission from India's Asia Cup squad, announced on Tuesday, refuses to die down. Not only did Iyer not feature in the squad of 15, but his absence from the reserves list also infuriated fans and former cricketers alike. While fans were critical of the decision made by the BCCI, the meltdown of India's former assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, when he indirectly accused Ajit Agarkar, the BCCI chairman of selectors, escalated the debate to a new level. Nayar questioned the decision and asked if Iyer is indeed that good, how could he not have been among the five standby players? How long will Shreyas Iyer have to wait?(AFP) While Shreyas has yet to officially discuss it or issue a public reaction/statement, his father, Santosh, did not mince words. Iyer Senior's statements reflected frustration, and rightly so, given the kind of form his son has been in. Sure enough, Iyer wasn't even part of India's previous T20I squad – the three matches against England earlier this year in February. In fact, Iyer last played a T20I for India back in December of 2023 against Australia, but a lot has changed since. Also Read: Ajit Agarkar's 5 big announcements during Asia Cup squad announcement that threw pleasant surprises amid some tough calls "I don't know what else Shreyas has to do to make it to the Indian T20 team. He has been performing so well in the IPL year after year, from Delhi Capitals to Kolkata Knight Riders to now Punjab Kings, and that too as a captain. He even captained KKR to the IPL title in 2024, and led PBKS to the final this year. I am not saying make him the captain, but at least select him in the team," he told The Times of India. When asked about Iyer's omission, Agarkar was very clear in his thought process. Where do they fit Shreyas? The Indian T20 batting order is stacked, and if a player like Sanju Samson, who scored three centuries last year, can find it tough to break into the Playing XI now that Shubman Gill has been named vice-captain, what chances does Iyer have? Santosh Iyer isn't wrong, you know Each and every point mentioned by Santosh Iyer exudes facts. To add to it, Iyer even led Mumbai to the last Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he again led from the front, scoring 345 runs from nine matches and finishing as the fourth-highest run getter of the tournament. Besides, the 604 runs he scored for the PBKS during their journey into the IPL 2025 final further cements his T20 batting calibre. Earlier today, reports that Iyer is set to succeed Rohit Sharma as India's new ODI captain at the appropriate time were received with a lot of surprise. A player who currently isn't in India's scheme of things in either Tests or T20Is to take the baton from Rohit? Nonetheless, irrespective of what lies ahead for Shreyas in future, or how many more setbacks the 30-year-old has to endure, Santosh Iyer reiterated that nothing can shake his son's confidence. "However, let me tell you that even if he's left out of the Indian team, he doesn't show dissent on his face. He'll just say 'It's my luck. You can't do anything now'. He's always cool and calm. He doesn't blame anybody. Deep inside, he must be naturally disappointed," added Shreyas' father.

Ex-Pakistan Star's Stunning Take On Asia Cup Clash Against India: " Ek Mazaak..."
Former Pakistan cricket team star Basit Ali was not pleased with the decision taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to not include a single player in Category A of the central contracts. PCB decided to demote Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam to Category B and not name anyone in the top tier. It was a strong message sent to the players as the board said that the performances in the past year was not satisfactory. However, Basit believed that Salman Ali Agha should have been named in the top category and called it a 'joke'. He added that another 'joke' will happen when Pakistan face India in the Asia Cup. "Ek majaak abhi aur hoga jab September 14 ko India vs Pakistan match hoga. Wahaan ek majaak aur hoga.(One more joke will happen when India faces Pakistan on September 14. Another joke will unfold there)," he told Kamran Akmal on a YouTube show "Game Plan". The PCB release doesn't mention the valuation of the contracts. Babar and Rizwan have been penalised for their consistently poor show across all marquee events, including last year's T20 World Cup, this year's ICC Champions Trophy, and the bilaterals against Bangladesh and the West Indies. T20 skipper Salman Ali Agha, on the other hand, has earned a promotion from group C to B. The other notable promotions are opener Saim Ayub and pacer Haris Rauf. Compared to last year's list of 27 contracted players, the PCB has expanded the pool to 30, including 12 fresh additions. The new entrants are Ahmed Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Mirza and Sufyan Moqim. Additionally, nine players have retained their positions in the same categories. They are Abdullah Shafique (Category C), Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jnr – all in Category D, Noman Ali, Sajid Khan, Saud Shakeel – all in Category C and Shaheen Shah Afridi (Category B). Eight players who have missed out on contracts this year include Aamir Jamal, Haseebullah, Kamran Ghulam, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Muhammad Irfan Khan and Usman Khan. They were all in Category (D).
