Ariana Grande May Soon Match Taylor Swift's All-Time Record
Ariana Grande's 'Twilight Zone' from Eternal Sunshine deluxe may earn her a fifth Grammy nod for ... More Best Pop Solo Performance—but she's never won the award. Ariana Grande entered the 2025 Grammy Awards with three nominations. Sadly, she didn't take home any trophies, as she lost in all three categories. Her consolation prize, however, was a different kind of recognition: she was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Wicked.
As the world waits for the second half of that musical blockbuster, Grande dropped several new tunes and re-released her album Eternal Sunshine. The focus of the updated full-length may bring her back to the Grammys in just a few months — and it could help her make history.
'Twilight Zone' is the standout from Eternal Sunshine: Brighter Days Ahead, the deluxe edition of the full-length. The track is the only single pushed from the project – at least thus far – and it's one of five brand new cuts added to the tracklist.
The song became a top 20 hit on the Hot 100 and has been steadily gaining at pop radio for weeks. Now, it seems like a real contender for the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance — especially in a year that doesn't look like it will be nearly as competitive as recent ceremonies.
Grande has already been nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance four times. She's been up for the prize for her smashes 'Dangerous Woman,' 'God Is a Woman,' '7 Rings,' and 'Positions.' Somehow, though, she's never taken home the golden gramophone.
Currently, Grande is tied with Adele and Kelly Clarkson for the third-most nominations in the Best Pop Solo Performance category. Only Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift have scored more, and they lead with five apiece.
If 'Twilight Zone' earns Grande another nod — which seems highly likely — she will match Eilish and Swift. Although, it's also possible that either of those women could end up nominated as well. Eilish pushed a new tune from her album Hit Me Hard and Soft, 'Wildflower,' in time to be eligible for the upcoming ceremony. Swift doesn't appear to have anything that's a fit at the moment, but that could change, as there are still several months left in the current window, which ends on August 30.
Will 'Twilight Zone' finally give Grande her first moment on top in this busy field, or will she have to settle for a fifth loss in a row? Either way, she may soon be headed for a historic showing in what is considered one of the most competitive fields at the Grammys.

Pop singer Jessie J says she has been diagnosed with early breast cancer
NEW YORK — The English pop singer Jessie J says she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo surgery after her performance at the London music festival Capital's Summertime Ball next weekend. Jessie J, 37, shared the news in an Instagram video on Wednesday. 'I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,' she said in the clip. 'Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding onto the word 'early'.' 'It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive (expletive) and more music.' The annual Summertime Ball will be held at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, June 15. She told her social media audience that she felt compelled to share her diagnosis. 'I just wanted to be open and share it,' she said. 'One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse – that's the bit that kills me.' The Grammy-nominated Jessie J has long been celebrated for her robust soprano and R&B-informed pop hits, like the 2014 collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande, 'Bang Bang,' and 2011's 'Domino.' She has released five albums across her career, most recently, 2018's Christmas album, 'This Christmas Day.' She has been releasing new music in 2025, including the singles 'Living My Best Life' and 'No Secrets.' A new album is expected later this year. She has a son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, born in 2023. A representative for Jessie J did not immediately respond to The Associated Press' request for comment.

Howard Stern gives update on Billy Joel's health amid brain condition
NEW YORK — SiriusXM host Howard Stern said he and Billy Joel had dinner after the Piano Man canceled his upcoming tour due to a brain condition, and can assure Joel's fans the rocker isn't on his deathbed. 'He's doing fine,' Stern said on his Tuesday morning program. Joel announced on May 23 that he was taking a break from performing following a recent diagnosis of hydrocephalus, which the National Institutes of Health describes as 'an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid deep within the brain.' Symptoms can include vomiting, vision problems, difficulty walking and memory loss or other cognitive impairment. Stern said Joel told him a few weeks ago, 'You can tell people, you know, I'm not dying.' According to Stern, Joel wants people to know that while he's not fit to play concerts at the moment, that doesn't mean he's not long for this world. Stern conceded that Joel does face medical challenges, but described him as 'delightful' when the two Long Islanders got together with their wives. The 71-year-old radio personality didn't say where their dinner took place, but claimed he serenaded Joel with a guitar he'd brought to celebrate the Grammy winner's recent 76th birthday. 'He didn't seem real impressed,' Stern confessed. One of the upcoming shows Joel had to cancel was a July 8 gig at Yankee Stadium with Rod Stewart, who himself nixed a Las Vegas performance hours before it was set to begin on Sunday due to illness.
