British fighter jet F-35B for sale on OLX? Here's the truth about aircraft grounded at Thiruvananthapuram airport
Amid a British Royal Navy F-35B fighter jet remains grounded at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport after making an emergency landing on 14 June, several posts on social media claimed the British F-35B Lightning II was up for sale on OLX.
According to the details, the British F-35B Lightning II jet landed in Thiruvananthapuram International Airport due to a suspected hydraulic issue.
The British jet was on routine flight outside Indian airspace when it developed a technical fault and diverted to the southern Indian airport.
Meanwhile, screenshots from the OLX were posted on social media by users, claiming the aircraft was up for sale for $4 million. The viral post, however, is fake.
But, no such post was found on OLX's official website. Looking into the details, the items for sale for the F-35 fighter jet were priced in US dollars, suggesting the post was fabricated.
However, social media users took a swipe and commented on the incident.
One wrote, "Someone put a UK F-35B fighter jet up for sale on OLX🤣 kaise kaise log rehte hai yahan.."
Another wrote, "British F-35B Fighter Jet is on sale for only $4 million in Kerala, India. The description is wild...."
A third wrote, 'Someone put a selling ads of America billion dollars fighter jet F-35B for sale. This fighter jet is in India for 6 days long due to technical issues. India is not for beginners 🤣🤣 Kya log hain vaiii.'
"Someone have put that stranded UK F-35B Fighter Jet on OLX," wrote the fourth user.
Though the root cause of the emergency landing of the British jet is said to be a technical fault, the fifth-generation combat jet is still stationed at the airport for a third day.
Shortly after the incident, technicians from the carrier arrived to begin inspection and repairs. Six of them returned to the ship on Tuesday afternoon, while three personnel – including the pilot – remain at Thiruvananthapuram to oversee the rectification efforts.
The pilot has been resting in the airport's apron office area and the aircrew were moved to the Emergency Medical Centre after the incident, as per the precautionary protocol.
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Ltd (TIAL) has been facilitating their stay, providing accommodation and meals.
At the Royal Navy's request, a local ground handling agency was also arranged. Also, the Indian Air Force supports the UK team in returning the aircraft to full service.

The following year, Ms. Aiman too moved to Iran and has been living there ever since. After her last conversation with her daughter, Ms. Raza tried to call them again but to no avail. Based on what they have heard on TV news and other media, the couple feels there could be an internet shutdown in the area where Ms. Aiman's family resides alongside several other Indian families. Mr. Ejaz was scheduled to fly to India for Muharram festival on June 13, the day Israel launched an attack on Iran triggering the conflict. His flight was cancelled as a result, they recalled. While the overall safety of the family remains a primary concern, the couple is also worried because of the worsening thyroid condition of their daughter and wonder whether she would receive any medical assistance if needed in this state of emergency. So far they haven't made any formal request to the authorities but said they might do so if Ms. Aiman remains incommunicado.

CBI brings back fugitive Moideenabba Ummer Beary from UAE in fake currency case
NEW DELHI: In a significant breakthrough after over a decade, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully facilitated the return of Moideenabba Ummer Beary, who was wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a high-profile fake currency case, from the United Arab Emirates, officials said on Friday. Beary landed in Mumbai on Friday as a deportee, they said, adding that the International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) of the CBI, in close coordination with the National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abu Dhabi, ensured his return through INTERPOL channels. 'Beary had been on the run for over a decade and was the subject of a Red Notice issued by INTERPOL at the request of the NIA since December 2013. The NIA had registered a case against him at its Kochi branch for allegedly procuring high-quality Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) from Dubai and smuggling them into India via Sharjah, with the consignment ultimately reaching Bengaluru,' a senior CBI official said. The NIA, in its charge sheet in connection with the case, has accused him of counterfeiting Indian currency, cheating, and criminal conspiracy. The CBI had been tracking Beary's movements and successfully geo-located him in the UAE with assistance from INTERPOL's global network, the officials said, adding that following his arrest in the UAE, a formal extradition request was processed through the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs. Red Notices, circulated globally by INTERPOL, play a critical role in locating and apprehending fugitives. The CBI, as India's designated INTERPOL liaison (NCB-India), has been instrumental in returning over 100 wanted individuals to India in recent years through its dedicated platform, BHARATPOL.

Pro-Palestinian activists broke into the UK's largest air force base in southeast England and vandalised two planes in an act condemned by Prime Minister Keir Starmer as "disgraceful" on Friday.
