Parkin Announces Updates to Dubai's Variable Parking Tariff Policy
Parkin Company PJSC has announced key updates regarding Dubai's Variable Parking Tariff Policy, which is set to take effect on April 4, 2025.
Introduced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the new policy will apply peak and off-peak tariffs across all public parking spaces and a significant portion of developer-managed parking facilities. Expansion of Premium Parking Zones
Following discussions between Parkin and the RTA, the proportion of Premium Parking, which includes high-demand areas near public transport hubs, has been increased to 40% of Parkin's public portfolio, up from the previously announced 35%. The remaining 60% will be classified as Standard Parking. Developer Parking Now Included
Initially, developer-owned parking spaces were expected to be exempt. However, under the updated policy, 35% of developer spaces will now be subject to variable tariffs, mirroring the public parking framework. MSCP and Grand Event Tariffs
The Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP) tariff remains unchanged at AED 5 per hour, capped at AED 40 for stays exceeding 8 hours in any 24-hour period.
To manage high vehicle volumes during major events at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), a special AED 25 per hour tariff will apply to 200 designated spaces from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM on event days. Upcoming DWTC events in 2025 include: GITEX (Oct 13–17)

Dubai's RTA begins major roadworks project to run through the summer
The transport authority in Dubai has begun work to improve traffic in the emirate at 40 locations over the summer period. The first phase of the work will cover 22 major streets, nine school zones, more than five development areas, and several internal roads in the Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2 and Nad Al Sheba, stated the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The roadworks will be carried out to 'minimise disruption to daily traffic flow', the RTA said in a statement released on Sunday. The next phase will include traffic enhancements at locations such as Jumeirah Village Circle towards Hessa Street, Ras Al Khor Road, Al Thanya Street, and King Salmanbin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street. Additional improvements are to be made to Al Meydan Street, Al Sa'ada Street, Al Asayel Street, and the junction of Al Wasl Street with Al Manara Street. The RTA is also undertaking roadworks at nine school zone locations including upgrades at the Al Warqa 1 school complex, the construction of an additional bus entrance at Gems Education in Al Warqa 3, the widening of access and exit points around The English College in Al Safa 1 on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the installation of a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing on Al Seedaf Street in Al Barsha 1. Work is also being carried at 'five major development zones' as a result of the emirate's population growth and booming economy, the RTA said. This includes the construction of a direct access route to Al Muhaisnah labour camps from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, upgrades to Al Mustaqbal Street (Brookfield) for improved access to newly developed residential communities, better connectivity between Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street via Al Marabea Street, and enhancements at Nad Al Hamar junction near Lootah Mosque. Additionally, new parking facilities will be developed to serve the Zayed Educational Complex in Oud Al Muteena 1. Internal roadworks will also be carried out in areas including Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2, Jebel Ali Industrial 1, Nad Al Sheba, and Al Warqa. Pedestrian walkways will also be constructed in Al Quoz Creative Zone to 'improve pedestrian safety'.

SEWA launches 10 lighting projects in Kalba
Key projects underway Engineer Youssef Al Hammadi, Director of SEWA's Kalba Department, confirmed that the authority is executing development and lighting works according to a defined timeline, following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah . Among the significant projects in progress is the lighting of main roads in the new industrial zone, where SEWA is installing 100 lighting poles and 200 fixtures, in addition to laying 11,000 metres of electrical cables. The project began in January 2025 and is expected to be completed by July, with an estimated cost of AED 2 million . Work is also ongoing on the second phase of Al Hefaiyah Lake lighting project, aimed at fully covering the tourist area with modern lighting units. This phase is valued at AED 1.5 million . In the second phase of the Jabal Deem lighting project, SEWA is implementing specialised technical solutions due to the area's unique geography, with a budget reaching AED 13 million . Additional work is being carried out in the Ghail area, including the installation of 400 lighting units and 250 poles, alongside 15,000 metres of electrical cables . Upgrades are also taking place on Kalba–Sharjah Road, Lake Street, and within the University District, where 1,400 traditional lights are being replaced with energy-efficient LED fixtures . The authority's lighting efforts in Kalba also include the implementation of an annual maintenance programme for the city's lighting network, as well as a dedicated project to improve lighting in the residential area of Al Qadisiya . Completed projects Several lighting projects have been completed in recent months. One of the most notable is the lighting of Khatmit Al Malaha Road, finished in April 2025, which included the installation of 100 lights, 50 poles, and 7,000 metres of cabling. Another completed project is the lighting of Saad bin Abi Waqqas Street, which saw the installation of 100 lights, 60 poles, and 10,000 metres of electric cable .
