Tripura launches framework to rate schools, CM Manik Saha says ‘it will act as catalyst in education sector'
At the launch event, CM Saha said, 'This TSQAAF is a new direction for Tripura. It will act as a catalyst in the education sector.'
The chief minister added that a good amount of funds is being invested in the education sector, leading to an overall improvement in the state's education profile.
CM Saha also informed that the state government has recently recruited 226 graduate and undergraduate teachers.
'We are recruiting transparently through the Teachers' Recruitment Board of Tripura (TRBT). We shall fill vacancies with qualified teachers,' Saha said.
He also reminded the audience that Tripura recently became only the third 'fully literate' state in India under the Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS) – Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram.
'Tripura became a fully literate state after Mizoram and Goa, with a literacy rate of 95.6 per cent. The pass percentages in Class 10 and 12 have crossed 86 per cent and 79 per cent, respectively. In Vidyajyoti schools, pass percentages in Class 10 and Class 12 have increased by 26 per cent and 21 per cent, respectively, from last year. We expect even better results in the future,' the chief minister said.
Saha said that earlier literacy programs were limited to teaching people to sign their names, but the current focus has expanded to reading, writing, basic arithmetic, critical life skills, and vocational skills, among others.
'Education is not just about acquiring formal certificates; it's a vital catalyst for instilling moral values in life,' the CM added.
Later in the day, the CM posted on social media, 'Tripura has already taken robust steps to implement the National Education Policy. The School Education Department is working tirelessly to create a healthy, competitive environment, transforming each school into a centre of excellence…
'Just as NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) accredits higher education institutions based on quality standards, we're launching TSQAAF for schools.'

Molestation allegation sparks mob attack on bus in Tripura, 4 injured; CM Manik Saha appeals for peace
The Tripura police launched a probe after a mob attacked a bus in the Sepahijala district Tuesday evening after a passenger allegedly molested a woman co-passenger inside the bus. One special police officer (SPO) and three passengers were injured in the attack, and the police filed a case at the local police station. The police said the mob attacked the passenger bus as soon as it reached a bus stand, and police personnel rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. All the injured were taken to a local hospital. 'A case was registered late at night. The police have started an investigation into the matter', said an on-duty police officer from the police headquarters. Meanwhile, the government imposed a prohibitory order in the region under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) shortly after the attack. Chief Minister Manik Saha said he got in touch with the woman and her mother and assured them all support. He also said he had instructed the director general of police (DGP) to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Speaking to reporters, he said, 'We are all part of society. There are the police, police stations and the legal system. Such incidents can happen at any time. What is required is to see if any action was taken after the incident. Many attempts are being made to give it a separate colour. I will tell them to refrain from doing so. The police have done their job. They reached the spot soon after the incident,' he said, adding that the alleged molestation and the mob attack were both wrong. 'I appeal for peace, and let me say one thing: violence never solves problems, it only divides people,' he added. SPOs are people appointed on an honorarium basis to assist regular police forces. SPOs were initially inducted to assist the police force in combating insurgency. Currently, they are deployed to maintain law and order.

Teachers hold the key to shaping a good society, says Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi
The responsibility of building a good society and shaping young learners lies with teachers, said Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi here on Monday. Mr. Poyyamozhi, along with Minister for Housing, Prohibition and Excise S. Muthusamy, inaugurated a five-day induction training programme for newly appointed graduate teachers at a private college in Thindal. 'A classroom is like a field, and students are the seeds sown. For these seeds to yield a good harvest, foundational education is absolutely essential,' Mr. Poyyamozhi said. The training includes modules on classroom observation, student engagement strategies, and several other essential teaching practices. Stating that teachers are entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing students with the care of a parent, he urged them to make the most of the training. 'Even when children go on to pursue higher education and advance in life, it is the education you provide today that will serve as their foundation,' he said. In his address, Mr. Muthusamy said the State government, under the leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was giving top priority to education and healthcare. 'Schemes such as Pudhumai Penn, Thamizh Pudhalvan, and Naan Mudhalvan were launched to promote higher education. These initiatives have led to a significant increase in student enrollment in higher studies,' he noted. He added that parents place their trust in teachers to shape their children's futures, and in doing so, teachers play a crucial role in nation-building. The Minister promised that any genuine demands raised by teachers for the academic welfare of students would be considered by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. A total of 106 newly appointed graduate teachers from Erode district participated in the Monday's session, which is part of a state-wide training programme for 2,535 teachers. The sessions also cover psychological approaches to teaching, compassionate classroom practices, strategies to enhance learning outcomes, and the effective use of mobile applications introduced by the department. Collector S. Kandasamy, MLAs A.G. Venkatachalam (Anthiyur) and V.C. Chandrakumar (Erode East), Mayor S. Nagarathinam, Deputy Mayor V.
