Over half a million viewers tune in to Rose of Tralee final

MORE than half a million people watched on as Laois's Katelyn Cummins was crowned the 2025 Rose of Tralee this week. Some 532,000 viewers tuned in to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player to watch as presenters Dáithí Ó Sé and Kathryn Thomas announced Ms Cummins as this year's winner on August 19. A total of 202,000 of those viewers tuned in via RTÉ Player from 102 countries worldwide, including the United Arab Emirates, Mexico and Kenya, as Ms Cummins became the first-ever Laois Rose to take the title. Laois's Katelyn Cummins was crowned the 2025 Rose of Tralee this week (Pic: RTE) The 20-year-old was announced as the winner just before 11.30pm on Tuesday evening, beating 31 other hopefuls to take the title. The apprentice electrician, who hails from the village of Ballyouskill, on the Laois-Kilkenny border, was presented with her sash by last year's Rose, New Zealand's Keely O'Grady. Ms Cummins is the 65th International Rose of Tralee. From the village of Ballyouskill, on the Laois-Kilkenny border, Ms Cummins said winning felt "like a dream". While being interviewed for the live show, she told the hosts she loved working as an electrician and plans to pursue an engineering degree. "I am an apprentice electrician, she told the hosts. "I am currently in my phase 3 at the moment. Back when I was in Transition Year, I had to do work experience, and I didn't really know what I wanted to do," she explained. "I didn't really want to go to college; it didn't really seem like a path for me. "Then my dad put me in touch with a local electrician. I did a week's work experience, and I absolutely loved it. I knew it was the job for me." She added: "Some people say I don't look like an electrician. I am very, very girly. I was the only girl in my college, and I am the only girl in my apprenticeship. I'm one of the lads now." See More: Electrician, Katelyn Cummins, Kerry, Laois, Rose Of Tralee

We now know the full schedule for The Traitors Ireland

The release of The Traitors Ireland is edging ever nearer, but one thing many fans of the show have been wondering is how will the episodes be released. In the UK, the first three seasons aired three episodes a week, but in the US, it was a one episode a week kind of deal. With the announcement of RTÉ's Autumn 2025 to Spring 2026 highlights across RTÉ One, RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player, we now know which other iteration of the popular competition series the Irish version, hosted by the amazing Siobhan McSweeney, is taking after. The Traitors Ireland hosted by Siobhan McSweeney Pic: RTÉ Well, it turns out, we'll be following the UK release model, but instead of a Wednesday-Friday release, Irish audiences will be able to watch our version of The Traitors on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Each episode will air after the 9pm news, at 9:35pm, and will be available on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player. Not only that, but we also have more details about the companion series The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked, hosted by Keven McGahern. The Traitors Ireland was filmed at Slane Castle Pic: Andres Poveda The support series will be filmed and broadcast from RTÉ Limerick and will feature exclusive interviews with the banished or murdered players, as well as unseen footage from each episode. As it stands, none of the 24 contestants have been confirmed for the show, but casting took place last year, with Kite Entertainment even calling out for people during the Ploughing Championships in 2024. While the US and UK versions are shot in Scotland, ours stays closer to home, being shot in Slane Castle. For those who haven't become obsessed with the show and are unfamiliar with how it all works, the reality competition is based on the Dutch version De Verraders and sees contestants try to identify who has been selected by the host as a Traitor, and the number can vary from season to season. The Traitors murder a Faithful a night in the hopes of winning the jackpot, and it's up to the Faithful to 'banish' the Traitors before they knock them all off. If any Traitors remain by the end of the game, they win the prize money, but if all have been discovered by then, the money is shared between the remaining Faithful. The Irish contestants will be competing for up to €50,000!
