Five more people charged after angry mob clash with police in 'beast' street protest
A further five people have been charged after an angry mob clashed with police during a protest in Fife.
A large crowd of around 100 people gathered at Pirnie Street in Methilhill on Sunday, August 3, with some chanting and others holding placards displaying messages such as "No place 4 a beast".
Police were called to the area and surrounding roads had to be closed off before a disturbance broke out with eggs and stones thrown at officers.
Specially trained public order officers were drafted in however no-one required hospital treatment.
Four males aged, 14, 15, 17 and 23 and a female aged 16 have been charged in connection with public order related offences.
The five will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
It comes after three men, aged 22, 38 and 47 and two females aged 36 and 15 were previously charged in connection with disorder.
Police also said in a statement they were aware of another planned gathering expected to take place on Friday, August 8.
Members of the public have been encouraged by the force not to engage in anti-social behaviour or disorder.
Chief Inspector Craig Fraser said: 'The violence officers experienced while carrying out their duties was unacceptable and we would encourage people not to engage in further disorder.
"We understand there are strong feelings in the local area but that is no excuse for violence or disorder.
"We are particularly concerned with the number of children who have been present.
'Our enquiries into these gatherings are ongoing as we work to identify further individuals involved in this incident.
'Anyone taking part on disorder or inciting or encouraging others to be involved should expect to be identified and charged accordingly.'

Comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli in court accused of sex attacks on three women
Kohli is claimed to have indecently assaulted the first woman at BBC Studios in Glasgow's Pacific Quay. Scots comedian and ex-Big Brother contestant Hardeep Singh Kohli appeared in court today on sexual related charges. The 56-year-old allegedly attacked three women between April 2007 and December 2016. Kohli is claimed to have indecently assaulted the first woman at BBC Studios in Glasgow's Pacific Quay. The charge says Kohli, of the city's Kelvinside, groped her buttocks, seized her by the body and hugged her. A second allegation towards the same woman says that Kohli made a sexual comment towards her at a Glasgow bar and restaurant. The third charge claims that Kohli indecently assaulted the woman in the city's Raddison Blu Hotel. He is stated to have stroked her on the back and touched her hair. Kohli is charged with indecently assaulting a second woman at Cross Keys Hotel, Canonbie, Dumfries and Galloway. It is alleged that Kohli seized her by the arm, lunged towards her and attempted to kiss her face. A special defence of consent has been lodged for this charge. Kohli is further accused of conducting himself in a disorderly manner and commit breach of the peace at the same time and place. The charge says Kohli exposed and performed a sex act on himself. The final charge alleges that Kohli sexually assaulted a third woman at Yes Bar in Glasgow city centre. He is stated to have seized the woman on the body, hugged her, kissed her on the mouth and attempted to put his tongue in her mouth. Kohli appeared in the dock today/yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court where he denied all six charges. Urfan Dar, defending, told the hearing: 'The position is the defence is ready for trial. 'The length of the trial both parties consider four to five days as a suitable estimate.' Mr Dar stated that advocate Sarah Livingstone will defend Kohli at trial. Prosecutor Sean Docherty told the court that he will cite seven civilian witnesses and one police witness. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! 'Disclosure has been completed.' A five-day trial was set for November by Sheriff John McCormick who continued Kohli's bail meantime.

Scottish man 'laughed at' in Greece as wife vanishes from beach
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The spouse of a missing Scottish woman has shared his shock at the response he received when seeking assistance in Greece, claiming his appeals being met with laughter. Chris Bourda, 66, dozed off on a sunbed only to wake and discover his wife, 59 year old Michele Ann Joy Bourda, had gone missing. Despite her personal items, including her towel, still being on the sunbed, there was no sign of Michele on Friday afternoon. Continuing his search in Kavala, Greece, Chris said he encountered mockery when he inquired about Michele to a beachside restaurant waiter. It took the persistence of Chris, a pharmacist by trade, to convince a local shopkeeper to call the authorities. From Kavala, Chris recounted: "Unfortunately I fell asleep and when I woke up she wasn't there... I went back to the waiter to say my wife was missing, have you seen her and he started laughing." Chris, who lives with Michele in Glasgow, has expressed disappointment with the Greek police's apparent apathy in the hunt for his wife, as reported by the Mirror. He observed an absence of police presence on the beach the day she vanished, a sentiment shared by another hotel guest, reports the Daily Record. "The police didn't do anything on the day. One guest who was there that day said she didn't see any police and I didn't see any police that day either, not one single policeman at the beach. "The only thing I saw was a police car driving up and down the road to the beach. Not getting out of the car, just looking in the direction of the sea," said Chris last night, who shares a son with Michele. Reflecting on the day Michele vanished, Chris recounted to the Daily Mail that his partner was "quite happy" and they had both enjoyed a swim in the sea. Michele, formerly with BT and now working for a local council, had flown to Greece with Chris for a two-week holiday last month. But now, Chris is consumed by anguish over the dire situation. The dad, who met Michele at university 36 years ago, shared: "I have been searching without sleep or anything. Day and night, especially early in the morning. It was hard to see at night though as it was so dark. "I've spent days and nights scouring the coastline, checking bushes, olive groves, abandoned properties, construction sites, and later I took to the hills, but found nothing... She held my hand all through the previous night, and you'd never suspect anything was amiss or that something like this could happen." Michele is described as 5ft 6in tall, slim, with blue eyes and shoulder-length hair. Her last known outfit was a rhinestone-studded two-piece beaded swimsuit, yellow beach footwear, and red horn-rimmed sunglasses.
