Taskmaster viewers left shaken by moment they didn't think ‘could legally broadcast on public TV'
Taskmaster viewers have been left stunned after the comedy game show aired a moment that they didn't think could be 'legally broadcast on public television'.
The series, which began in 2015, is the brainchild of comedian and host Alex Horne, and pits five comedians against each other in a series of often bizarre and seemingly impossible tasks set by the tyrannical taskmaster Greg Davies.
Challenges vary, with some classics including pushing three exercise balls to the top of a hill single handedly, making a music video for a nursery rhyme and ordering a pizza without saying the word 'pizza' or any of the ingredients.
The comedians currently taking part in the 19th series of the show are Fatiha El-Ghorri, Jason Mantzoukas, Mathew Baynton, Rosie Ramsey and Stevie Martin.
In the latest episode, dubbed 'Glass Half Most', which aired on 12 June on Channel 4, the comedians were told to eat yoghurt in the most or least 'dignified' way they could imagine.
It's fair to say that Baynton, best known for starring in Horrible Histories and Ghosts, took the challenge to the extreme and produced a truly surreal and horrifying piece of TV.
The 44-year-old, who was stripped down to his pants, crawled towards the yogurt which had been smeared across the shoes of Horne.
'Please forgive me, Daddy – I've got your shoes all mucky,' said Baynton as Horne approved of the action.
Although Baynton won all five points for the challenge he did admit: 'There aren't enough points in the world that could have made that worthwhile for the cost it's going to have.'
Indeed, reactions to the episode on social media would indicate that they were suitably shocked by the moment.
'There was something on this latest episode of Taskmaster that I didn't think you could legally broadcast on public television,' said one person.

A second viewer exclaimed: 'I just watched the newest episode of Taskmaster. What Mat did for the yogurt task was the most unhinged thing I've seen on that show.'
'Really hoping interviewers stop asking Mat Baynton about his time on Horrible Histories and instead spend the next 15 years focusing on that time he liked yogurt off of Alex Horne's shoes while calling him daddy on Taskmaster,' joked a third.
'It was horrifying, disturbing, just awful all around. 10/10, couldn't stop laughing, Taskmaster genuinely is the show that keeps on giving,' praised another person.

Baynton previously told The Metro that working on Taskmaster is 'bizarre' because 'no one is telling you what to do'.
He added: 'So I was the maker of my own misfortune in that sense… it's like you just go into this strange mental space, and all you're thinking about is the task, and you're being forced to make decisions quite quickly, and you just do it and throw yourself into it. It's only when you're in the car on the way home that you think, 'Oh s***, that's going on TV, that's going to last forever'.'

Claudia Winkleman ‘incredibly grateful' for MBE in King's Birthday Honours
TV presenter Claudia Winkleman has said she is 'incredibly grateful' to have been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King's Birthday Honours. The Traitors presenter was honoured on Friday alongside her Strictly Come Dancing co-host, Tess Daly, for services to broadcasting. Winkleman, 53, said: 'I am incredibly grateful to receive this honour. 'It's a real privilege to work with extraordinarily talented people and I have only got this because of them. So this is for the BBC, the traitors and the faithful, for pianos and for the cha cha. 'I will buy a hat and am taking my mum. I am ridiculously lucky and will celebrate with Tess by doing a paso doble.' Born and raised in London, she studied history of art at Cambridge University and after graduating began her career as a TV and radio presenter, fronting a range of BBC TV shows including Comic Relief and The Great British Sewing Bee. She also presented on BBC Radio 2 until 2024, hosting different programmes on the station including the comedy quiz series Hot Gossip, the Claudia Winkleman Arts Show and Claudia On Sunday. In 2004, she joined BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing, presenting its weekday companion show It Takes Two until she passed it to broadcaster Zoe Ball, with her taking on the Sunday night results show alongside Daly. The presenter joined Daly for the main show every Saturday from 2014, after Sir Bruce Forsyth stepped down. The Bafta-winning presenter is also behind the hit BBC game show The Traitors and won best entertainment performance at the 2023 awards. She will be fronting its charity spin-off series, The Celebrity Traitors, in which 19 famous faces will enter the castle in the Highlands, including comedian Alan Carr, actor and broadcaster Sir Stephen Fry and retired diver Tom Daley. Stephen Lambert, who is also recognised in the King's Birthday Honours and is the founder and chief executive of Studio Lambert, said: 'I'm thrilled that Claudia Winkleman is being honoured too; her brilliant hosting has played such a key role in the success of The Traitors.' Studio Lambert is the production company behind The Traitors, Gogglebox, Race Across the World, and Squid Game: The Challenge. Winkleman hosts the Channel 4 general knowledge gameshow One Question, where she recently described wanting to cry after a father and daughter won £100,000, making history on the programme for winning the top prize without looking at all of the possible answers. She also presents Channel 4's The Piano, in which she is joined by singer-songwriter Mika and Grammy-winner Jon Batiste, as they hunt for Britain's most talented undiscovered pianists. She will host a concert for this year's BBC Proms, including a matinee and evening Traitors-themed performance, which is expected to have a range of famous classical works, alongside new arrangements of some of the music from the popular psychological reality programme. Winkleman is a trustee of the The British Museum and a patron of Child Bereavement UK.

Australian thriller packed with twists that has fans hooked is now streaming free in the UK
A twisty thriller dubbed "disturbing" and "gripping" by fans is finally available to stream for free in the UK. The Secrets She Keeps, starring Jessica De Gouw and Laura Carmichael, follows lonely pregnant woman Agatha (Carmichael) who meets successful online influencer Meghan (De Gouw), who also happens to be pregnant and is due to give birth around the same time. They are led down a dark and dangerous path when Agatha becomes obsessed with Meghan's seemingly perfect life and the secrets they both share. Based on the psychological thriller novel by Michael Robotham, the thriller series first aired in 2020 on 10Play in Australia before a second series hit Paramount+ two years later. For TV fans in the UK, all 12 episodes across season one and two are now available to stream for free on Channel 4 - so cancel your weekend plans and settle in. Related: Those who have seen The Secrets She Keeps said they binged it all and were left hooked, with one IMDb user calling the show "disturbing" while another said it was "a tense, gripping watch". While many praised the performances of De Gouw and Carmichael, others branded the narrative "predictable" in many ways despite its "unexpected" twists. The Secrets She Keeps currently holds an impressive 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with saying in its review: "A very watchable, albeit slightly shallow, exploration of how femininity and motherhood intertwine and toxify." Paste Magazine added: "Without performances as layered and emotionally sound as the ones Carmichael and De Gouw give, The Secrets She Keeps would be little more than the aforementioned pulpy ride. It's still pretty cockamamie, but in a way that is also fully believable." Related: The Guardian added: "The bedrock of the show is credible, serious drama, though this is undercut from time to time by pulpy genre elements more befitting old-school Ozploitation thrillers - such as 1979's Snapshot." Speaking to Radio Times, Downton Abbey star Carmichael opened up about the drastic difference between her role as Agatha and as Edith Crawley in the smash hit period drama. "You can't control what other people think of you," she says. "I enjoy a challenge, and I'm keen to try on different hats. When you do something for a long time, things become comfortable – you want to push yourself. "It's been such a gift being in Downton. It's opened so many doors. If another period drama came across my desk... if I loved the script, I wouldn't be too nervous of entering that world. But at the moment I'm drawn to things that feel different." The Secrets She Keeps is available to stream now on Channel 4. Digital Spy's first print magazine is here!
