John Mulaney furiously weighs in as wife Olivia Munn continues to face backlash for shunning Ms Rachel's show
What started as Olivia Munn sharing which children's shows she doesn't let her kids watch has now evolved into a social-media fueled 'feud' between the 44-year-old actress and YouTube star Ms. Rachel.
And it seems as though Munn's husband John Mulaney has now joined in as well.
In a recent interview with People, Munn - who is mom to two kids - explained her personal preferences when it comes to the kind of children's content she allows in her household.
'I know kids love [Ms. Rachel], but the thing is, if I can't watch it, I'm not going to spend the rest of my life going crazy,' she said.
Munn, 44, also shared that she avoids cartoons, noting that when her son Malcolm asked for Blue's Clues, she responded, 'Hell no. Not in my house.'
But her comments sparked fierce backlash with even Ms. Rachel, 42, furiously hitting back to express her disappointment at the coverage.
Now, in an Instagram story posted on June 11, Mulaney, also 42, weighed in on the matter with backlash against his wife still raging on.
Against a black backdrop, he wrote: 'An innocent comment my wife Olivia Munn made about what children's programs we like has somehow - unbelievably - been conflated with not caring about the deaths of children in Gaza.'
But her comments sparked fierce backlash with even Ms. Rachel, 42, furiously hitting back to express her disappointment at the coverage
'Because of this, my wife and two kids are now receiving violent and threatening comments and messages in her DMs,' he continued.
'This is absolutely insane and needs to stop. The people doing this are so wildly out of line and so unhelpful to any conversation.
'You took a nothing comment to a dark and dangerous place.
'This kind of behavior isn't activism.'
After publications started covering Munn's comments, Ms. Rachel, 42, commented and posted, 'I'd rather you cover my advocacy for kids in Gaza.'
Since then, Ms. Rachel fans have criticized Munn, calling her 'selfish' for not dealing with children's shows her kids may want to watch just because she didn't personally like them.
Others called her comments tone deaf as Ms. Rachel is one of the few public figures actively and publicly advocating for Palestinian children.
In light of his comments, many have rushed to praise Mulaney for defending his wife and added that attacking Munn 'isn't activism.'
In light of his comments, Mulaney received mixed reaction from fans
'I've said it before, but this kind of "activism" gets people nowhere and actually makes people not take it seriously,' one user shared.
'Mulaney is Mr. Stand On Business when it comes to Olivia like you're not gonna say s**t about his woman and expect to get away with it,' an X (formerly Twitter) user shared.
But others jumped to criticize him, pointing out that this was the first time the comedian and actor even mentioned the dying children in Gaza.
'Finally mentioning Gaza after almost two years because someone was mean to my wife,' one user mocked.
'Most of the criticisms of Munn have centered around her coming off as a selfish parent, so it's odd that Mulaney's first ever mention of Gaza is to frame it in these terms,' another said.

Snoop Dogg's dog dies His beloved pet has passed away Snoop Dogg (Image: Getty Images ) Snoop Dogg's dog has died. The Drop It Like It's Hot hitmaker was given French bulldog Juelz as a 43rd birthday gift from Wiz Khalifa in 2014 but now his beloved pet has passed away. Snoop shared a video of Juelz in the front seat of his car, soundtracked by Weldon Irvine's 'Morning Sunrise' and wrote on Instagram: ""Rip @juelzbroadus [crying emoji]Thank wiz for giving him to me.(sic)" The 53-year-old rapper then shared a second video, which featured a montage of Juelz with Snoop and his family and friends over the years, with Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's 'See You Again' playing over the top. He wrote: "Miss my dogg @juelzbroadus (sic)" Juelz had his own Instagram account, which had thousands of followers and documented his adventures with his famous owner over the years. Meanwhile, Snoop - who has another French bulldog, Frank - recently admitted he is keen to open a food stall at Celtic Park, the Scottish home of his favourite soccer side Celtic. Article continues below He told Scotland's Sunday Mail newspaper: "There has always been the opinion that food at sports stadiums is never good but that ain't got to be the case. "People know that Snoop is a cook and I would love to bring a pop up burger to a sports stadium to show fans that food at stadiums can be good. "It's got to be Celtic Park man, I mean where else am I going to bring it. "The secret to a good burger is the love in the preparation. The ground beef has got to be mixed with some secret spices, then add a good quality cheese and some maple cured bacon. "The Celtic fans are gonna love it, and to make sure they are just right, Snoop is going to be serving them himself." But Snoop has no interest in offering his food to Celtic's great rivals rangers. Article continues below He said: "Am I going to bring my burgers to Rangers as well? Nah, I think we will give that a miss!" Snoop revealed back in 2012 that he wanted to buy shares in Celtic after watching the Parkhead side beat Barcelona in the Champions League in November that year. At the time he said: "I got a lot of interest in soccer. It's not a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in sports teams but it is a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in soccer teams...I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell...I want to bring a bit of Snoop to things."
