Blake Lively tense exchange with Justin Baldoni's lawyer over 'smear campaign' is revealed in deposition ahead of legal showdown with her It Ends With Us co-star

Daily Mail21 hours ago
Blake Lively 's tense conversation with Justin Baldoni 's lawyer over an alleged smear campaign against her has been revealed in her deposition ahead of their legal case.
The actress, 37, filed a lawsuit in December against Justin, 41, his Wayfarer Studios team, their publicist and PR representatives, alleging sexual harassment and a retaliatory smear campaign - which they have all denied.
Blake then gave evidence under oath during a deposition hearing in New York on July 30, with her remarks now being revealed in a transcript released after a court order.
According to People, which obtained a section of the deposition, Blake claimed that she doesn't feel like the alleged 'smear campaign' against her has ended.
She was reportedly asked by an unnamed lawyer for her It Ends With Us co-star Justin: 'When did the smear campaign end?'
To which she replied: 'It doesn't feel like it's ended.'
When quizzed on if it was still 'ongoing', Blake added: 'It feels that way, yes,' before claiming she believed all of the defendants and the lawyer were involved in the alleged campaign.
'I believe the act of a retaliatory lawsuit and the press that you have done and the statements that you have made about me and my character have felt incredibly retaliatory,' she added.
Justin's $400million countersuit was dismissed by a judge in June.
On August 7, a spokesperson for Blake said in a statement they were 'pleased with the outcome of her deposition and looked forward to deposing Justin and each of the co-defendants in short order'.
The full deposition transcript reportedly spans nearly 300 pages and a portion was made public following Judge Lewis J. Liman's order from August 8.
The lawyer in question wasn't named but in June, Justin's attorney Bryan Freedman told TMZ that he would question Blake under oath.
At the time, he also told how Justin was seeking to be 'vindicated' and 'wants the truth to come out in the appropriate way'.
The lawyer added: 'He's waiting for his day in court, where he can speak out to tell the truth.'
Filings show Blake's lawyers accused Justin's team of leaking deposition details to create a 'media circus' and advance a narrative of a direct confrontation.
Justin's lawyers have countered any leaks could have originated from Blake, her actor husband Ryan Reynolds, her attorneys or staff.
Multiple defendants and eight attorneys were present at her deposition, while Blake also arrived supported by her sister and best friend Robyn and husband Ryan Reynolds.
However, they were not with her in the room when she gave evidence over the course of a long day.
During the deposition, Blake gave her account of events which led up to her filing a lawsuit against Justin in December of last year.
The mother-of-four had claimed Justin, 41, was able to nuzzle her neck and comment on the way she smelled without anyone else on set hearing because their microphones were switched off.
But footage later emerged seeming to prove the opposite - not only were the microphones on, but the pair had spent most of the scene chatting about their respective spouses.
Blake's claims that Justin orchestrated a negative media campaign against her have also been called into question thanks to her reliance on what his team have described as 'doctored' texts.
Documents filed by Justin claim that the texts between his publicists Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel, had been edited to remove context and were incomplete.
Earlier this year, a New York judge tossed Blake's emotional distress claim after she refused to release her medical records to Justin's team.
But last month, Blake claimed total 'vindication' after the judge sensationally tossed almost all of Justin's $400million countersuit against the actress and her husband Ryan.
There will be further depositions before the case comes to trial in March next year.

'Sesame Street' stars Elmo and Abby Cadabby sing and host in their Grand Ole Opry debut

For a 3 1/2-year-old, Elmo sure has sung a lot on "Sesame Street" with some of the best musicians in the world. But it wasn't until Thursday that the friendly red monster made his Grand Ole Opry debut, a country music rite of passage. The squeaky voiced singer's roots in the genre actually run pretty deep. Elmo helped ring in the Grand Ole Opry's 100th anniversary this year by co-hosting with his 'Sesame Street' pal Abby Cadabby. Elmo, in a little blue cowboy hat and matching shirt, teamed up for a duet alongside Lauren Alaina, while Abby Cadabby sang with Tayla Lynn, the daughter of Loretta Lynn, the late country star who had visited "Sesame Street" herself. 'We sing all the time on 'Sesame Street,' but um, well, being able to sing in the home of country music is amazing!' Abby Cadabby told The Associated Press prior to their performance. The puppet pair shared the spotlight in Music City during a stop on the "Sesame Street" crew's Road Trip Across America this summer and fall, when the characters that kids have watched on TV for decades are heading to events such as professional baseball games, state fairs and corn mazes. Cookie Monster even served as the grand marshal at the NASCAR Brickyard 400 in Indiana, making a cookie crumb mess, as expected. Throughout the years, the "Sesame Street" gang has played and sung songs with some of country music's brightest stars, including Garth Brooks, Lee Ann Womack, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Thomas Rhett, Kane Brown, Mickey Guyton, Kacey Musgraves and more. Chris Stapleton stopped by Sesame Street in late July. Johnny Cash made multiple appearances. He won over Oscar the Grouch with his song, 'Nasty Dan,' about a mean guy who never laughed and was rumored to have never taken a bath. 'Wow, I'd like him,' Oscar the Grouch mused from his trash can. Loretta Lynn, meanwhile, joined for a math lesson with the Count on the song, 'Count on Me.' In their interview with AP, Elmo and Abby Cadabby said the Count always talks about Loretta Lynn. Elmo said Stapleton's song about the power of music was really great. 'Elmo got to wear his hat,' Elmo said of Stapleton. "It was a little big for Elmo, but that's OK. A really good time." Both of them were also dreaming big about singing with Dolly Parton. 'Elmo would love to do a duet with Miss Dolly Parton,' Elmo said. 'Maybe we could do 'Jolene' together. Come on Dolly! Call Elmo!' 'Yeah! Or 'Love is Like a Butterfly!'' Abby Cadabby added. 'Call us! We're available!' Elmo said. 'Sesame Street'debuted in 1969, and has helped generations of children learn, grow and be kind with characters like Bert, Ernie and Grover. Elmo wasn't officially Elmo, though, until 1980 in the 11th season. Before that, he was more of an extra used in some segments. He turns 3 1/2 years old on his birthday every February 3. Abby Cadabby is a 4-year-old fairy-in-training, and the Fairy Godmother's daughter. She came to Sesame Street in 2006. They also tossed out some ideas for new country songs. Elmo said he might write one about Rocco, the pet rock from Sesame Street. Abby Cadabby's idea was a little more complicated. 'A guitar-playing pickle picking in a pickle patch with a penguin eating pizza. Woo!' she said. 'Maybe I'll just sing about my friend Big Bird.' Elmo has also had play dates with his cousin Elmer, who spoke with a little twang, wore a bright green cowboy hat and played a guitar to lead them in the 'Rootin' Tootin' Hootin' Hollerin' Country Jamboree.' 'Elmo loves country music, too,' Elmo said. 'Elmo loves the fiddle. Elmo loves to hear the fiddle. And Elmo loves to say fiddle.'

A-list actor turns down Trump's Kennedy Center Lifetime Achievement Award

Actor Tom Cruise reportedly turned down a Kennedy Center Award from President Donald Trump. The Mission Impossible star, 63, was offered the award but declined due to 'scheduling conflicts,' according to The Washington Post. Anonymous Kennedy Center employees told the outlet of the actor's move to shun Trump, with the president said to have been actively involved in picking him. The president instead unveiled Sylvester Stallone, rock band KISS, Michael Crawford, Gloria Gaynor, and George Strait as being bestowed with honors. Cruise, a member of the Church of Scientology, is known to shy away from politics, opting to use his high profile to support the military, veterans and his religion. Instead of the Kennedy Center revealing the names through a press release as usual, Trump announced the honorees himself. While unveiling the recipients at the Kennedy Center's Hall of Nations, Trump said he was 'very involved' in picking them. He also said that he would hosting the event later this year, in his first term he didn't even attend the ceremony. Trump said the country was tired of award ceremonies like the Academy Awards because they were too 'woke.' 'Look at the Academy Awards. It gets lousy ratings. Now it's all woke. All they do is talk about how much they hate Trump, but nobody likes that,' he said. Trump seized control of the center after taking office for his second term, appointing himself as the chairman and appointing fourteen new members to the board. In handing down the awards, he praised Stallone, a supporter of his, as one of the best actors of his generation. 'Nobody else could have done what he did. They tried and it didn't work out too well,' he said pointing to the films Rambo and Rocky as monumental achievements. 'I'll never forget I was a young guy and I went to see a thing called 'Rambo,' he recalled. 'I said, "This movie is phenomenal. What the heck".' Trump praised Crawford as 'an international sensation' for playing 'one of the greatest roles in the history of Broadway' as the Phantom of the Opera. He went on to describe Gaynor as 'one of the most revered singer of the American disco era,' praising her song, 'I Will Survive' as an 'unbelievable song. 'I have heard it, like everyone else here, thousands of times. And it is one of those few that get better every time you hear it,' he said. 'And no one can sing it like her.' He revealed that he always wanted a Kennedy award, calling them one of the 'most prestigious' awards in show business. 'Next year we'll honor Trump, okay?' he joked. Breaking with longtime tradition, none of the honorees was from the fields of dance, jazz or classical music.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid stays tight-lipped as Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift engagement rumors continue to swirl

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was quick to shut down any talk of wedding bells between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift this week. The legendary NFL coach is prepping for another season at the helm in KC, but this week has been dominated by talk of his star tight end's off-field love life, after Swift's internet-breaking appearance on the New Heights podcast. Last week, Reid himself fueled speculation that the pair are engaged when he opened up on the stories he would tell at the wedding, but this week he remained tight-lipped when questioned again about the potential of their marriage. Speaking to Kay Adams on her 'Up and Adams' show on FanDuel, the host told Reid: 'You're looking lean here today... did you have to get the tux taken in for Travis' wedding?' Reid then immediately laughed off the comment, simply stating: 'Ha... yeah, yeah, yeah... no, I hear you, I hear you.' It isn't clear whether Kelce has had a quiet word in his coach's ear after last week's comments, in which he was happy to speak more about their hypothetical nuptials. Coach Andy Reid with a shutdown defensive performance of the lifetime. 🤐 Travis Kelce. Taylor Swift. A swing & a miss from yours truly 😂 😂 — Kay Adams (@heykayadams) August 13, 2025 'Well there are a few I can't tell,' Reid told Kansas City sports radio's 96.5 The Fan with Fescoe and Dusty when asked which stories he would tell at the reception. 'No, there are a lot of great stories,' continued Reid. 'He's done so many good things, all the things he's done off the field that people don't know about, just helping people out. He's got a big heart that way.' Wednesday saw Swift and Kelce quite literally break the internet, when the latest episode of New Heights crashed with 1.3million tuning in live. It is just the latest high in a remarkable two-year relationship between the world's most famous couple, and Swift used it to reveal her 12th studio album. On the episode, Kelce and Swift could hardly keep their hands off each other, with the Chiefs tight end holding her hand, and kissing her head as she spoke through the emotions of buying back her music. At the end of the show, the pair shared a romantic kiss, sending Swifties wild as they watched the love story continue to blossom in front of their eyes. They have enjoyed a quiet few months in the wake of Swift's Eras Tour coming to an end, but attention for Kelce is now turning to another NFL season - and it could well be his last. Kansas City open the season with a Week 1 trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil, to face the Los Angeles Chargers. It remains to be seen whether Swift makes the trip south to cheer on her man once more.
