Gulshan being a Punjabi father got so frustrated as Sanjay almost opposed to everything during that meeting.
Sanjay is now gearing up for the release of his next production, 'Heer Express' directed by 'OMG: Oh My God' director
. As Gulshan recently appeared on Archana Puran Singh's Youtube channel, he spoke about how he reconnected with his son Sanjay after divorce from his wife.
The film marks a significant moment for the Grovers — it's produced by Sanjay, who brings with him years of international experience as a development executive in Hollywood.
Reflecting on this father-son reunion through cinema, Gulshan shared, 'Working on the project gave us an opportunity to reconnect,' revealing that Sanjay had spent much of his life apart from him due to his parents' separation. 'Sanjay grew up away from me, as he'd divorced his mother,' he added with candor.
Now in a more reflective phase of his life, Gulshan said his focus has shifted from personal ambitions to seeing his son flourish.
When Archana's husband, actor Parmeet Sethi, asked how he would like to be remembered, Gulshan responded emotionally, 'I want to see big success, big achievements, but for my son, Sanjay Grover.'
Recalling a pivotal moment in Sanjay's Hollywood journey, Gulshan narrated an incident that left a lasting impression. While Sanjay was still studying at UCLA, Gulshan had a meeting at MGM Studios with former co-CEO Mary Parent.

Sanjay insisted on tagging along, excited to see the Oscars displayed in the studio's lobby. But what happened inside the boardroom surprised everyone — especially Gulshan. 'Sanjay kept contradicting everything she said.
Like any Punjabi dad, I felt like taking him out and thrashing him. But, to my surprise, after the meeting, Mary handed him her details and said that a job would be waiting for him once he graduates.
I was so proud. I felt like a village idiot,' he laughed.
So why did Sanjay walk away from a promising career in Hollywood? According to Gulshan, the answer is simple — family. 'I am divorced from his mother, and she lives separately. Any parent would feel like enough is enough, my son has lived outside for so many years, we should live together now,' he explained. They worked out an arrangement where Sanjay lives on the top floor of Gulshan's duplex while the actor stays on the lower level.
'He was free to enter my space, but I didn't have permission to enter his space,' Gulshan chuckled.
He also admitted that convincing Sanjay to return to India wasn't easy — and required a bit of heartfelt manipulation. 'I had to emotionally blackmail him,' Gulshan said, referring to how he coaxed his son to give acting a shot.
Sanjay, who previously worked at MGM, recently co-produced Dear Jassi, directed by Tarsem Singh. Now, with 'Heer Express' helmed by Umesh Shukla — known for 'OMG – Oh My God' and '102 Not Out' — the father-son duo hopes to leave an indelible mark together.

This bold film with IMDb 7.7 rating left audiences disturbed for days, ahead of Bandit Queen, movie name is...
In this devastating tale, an entire village is erased by violence, leaving no one behind. Toward the end, Kalki—our lead—brings the story full circle when she gives birth to a daughter. It's a haunting image, framed in quiet menace and unspoken tragedy. Why did audiences get so shaken? Viewers voiced their reactions on Reddit, calling the subject matter 'bold' and yearning for more films that tackle such raw themes. 'It stayed with me long after the credits,' wrote one user. Others admitted it left them feeling unsettled. That lingering unease is the film's true power. Where can you watch it? If you dare, the film is available on Amazon Prime and YouTube. On YouTube, the film has crossed a remarkable 1.9 million views in just one year. Its IMDb rating stands at 7.7, signaling strong audience appreciation. Many comments reflect that even after the visuals faded, its emotional impact did not. What makes it linger? Beyond the visuals and plot, it's the boldness of the storytelling—how it invites discomfort, exploring violence and loss in a way that pushes beyond typical entertainment. The muted delivery holds the viewer in a quiet tension, and in the final moments, rises to a simple yet charged act of creation: Kalki as a mother in an erased world. Final Thoughts This is not a film you watch for escape—it's a film you watch to remember. YouTube Or Netflix Could Be The Next Home For Oscars After ABC Contract Ends: Report
Last Updated: Streaming giants like YouTube and Netflix are in the running to host the Oscars after ABC's 2028 contract ends. Could Hollywood's biggest night go digital? Will the 2029 Academy Awards be streaming on YouTube? With ABC's broadcast contract ending in 2028, major streaming and network companies are eyeing the rights to host Hollywood's biggest night. Bloomberg reports that Google-owned YouTube is emerging as a contender alongside Netflix, NBCUniversal, and other media giants. Like Netflix, YouTube has steadily increased its focus on live events. The platform successfully acquired the NFL Sunday Ticket in 2023 and has bid for other major live broadcasts. Meanwhile, ABC has aired the Oscars since 1976, and Disney could still extend its long-standing contract. However, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has reportedly explored alternative options, both as a negotiation tactic and a potential new home for the awards. YouTube's Big Play for Hollywood's Biggest Night Most potential bidders for the Oscars aren't surprising: Disney's ABC, Comcast's NBCUniversal, Netflix, Amazon, and Paramount's CBS all have stakes in live programming or major studio-backed content. But YouTube is the unexpected contender. Sources indicate the platform has inquired about acquiring the rights, signaling a serious move into live entertainment beyond sports and podcasts. Hosting the Oscars would be a bold statement for YouTube. Known primarily for on-demand videos, YouTube would instantly gain global attention by broadcasting a live event watched by millions. The platform's massive reach could inject new energy into the Oscars, which have faced declining ratings in recent years despite occasional spikes, such as the 2025 ceremony—the highest in five years. Hollywood, Streaming, and the Bottom Line While the idea of a YouTube-hosted Oscars may excite fans, it's far from certain. ABC will continue airing the show through 2028, and the Academy is still negotiating. Many bidders can combine broadcast networks with streaming platforms, while several own major studios that prioritise theatrical releases. For now, the Oscars remain a high-profile, though challenging, live event in a changing entertainment landscape. Whether it stays with ABC, moves to Netflix, or takes a digital leap to YouTube, Hollywood's biggest night will continue to evolve—both on TV and online. view comments First Published: August 19, 2025, 00:20 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Among the most eye-catching are 'skibidi', 'tradwife' and 'delulu': slang terms which highlight the influence of the younger generation on global English. Several Gen Z internet slang words, such as delulu, have been added to the Cambridge Dictionary this year.(Representative image/Unsplash) According to The Guardian, Colin McIntosh, lexical program manager at Cambridge Dictionary, said the move reflects long-term linguistic trends instead of short-lived fads. McIntosh noted that the internet culture was changing the English language and that it is 'fascinating' to observe its effects and capture it in the dictionary. 'We only add words where we think they'll have staying power,' he said. The term is even used without meaning as a joke, like in the phrase: 'What the skibidi are you doing?' The term gained traction through Skibidi Toilet, a surreal animated YouTube series featuring human heads popping out of toilets. These influencers, typically, post about cooking, cleaning, and child-rearing, often positioning themselves as embracing 1950s-style gender roles, The Guardian report stated. The dictionary defined 'tradwife' as a wife who embraces traditional roles, 'especially one who posts on social media'. Critics have argued that the trend glorifies regressive stereotypes, while supporters view it as a lifestyle choice. 'Delulu' culture and beyond The slang 'delulu', a shortened form of 'delusional' has also entered the dictionary. According to the BBC, the slang was originally used to mock obsessive K-pop fans. It has since evolved into a more general phrase for wishful thinking. Popularized through TikTok, the phrase 'delulu is the solulu' - suggesting that delusion helps manifest desires - has become a part of popular culture. The BBC report added that Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese even used the phrase in parliament earlier this year, accusing his opponents of being 'delulu with no solulu'.
