UAE-Pakistan flights face disruptions for second day
It comes a day after flight services to Pakistan were impacted after India hit multiple targets in Pakistan linked to the tourist killings in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement sent to ARN News, Etihad Airways said flights between Abu Dhabi and Lahore, which were rescheduled to take-off a day after Wednesday's disruptions, have been cancelled.
"Etihad Airways flights EY288 and EY289 between Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Lahore Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE), which were originally scheduled to depart on 07 May and subsequently delayed, have now been cancelled due to the ongoing closure of Pakistani airspace," the airline said in its statement.
The airline said it will continue to monitor the "evolving situation" and warned travellers of "further changes or disruption" to its Pakistan services.
Emirates said it is suspending all flights to Pakistan's Lahore, Islamabad, Sialkot, Peshawar and Karachi until May 10.
In an update on its official website, the airline said it's "due to the ongoing uncertainly surrounding access to the country's airspace and airports".
The Dubai carrier said travellers "booked on connecting flights to Pakistan will not be accepted to travel until further notice".
Dubai low-cost carrier, flydubai, also confirmed "temporary suspension of flights between Dubai and Karachi" on Thursday. In a statement, the airline said flights to and from Islamabad and Lahore have also been cancelled.
"Flights FZ 354 from Islamabad International Airport (ISB), FZ 360 from Lahore International Airport (LHE) and FZ 338 from Sialkot Airport (SKT) on 08 May were cancelled," a spokesperson for the airline said.
Meanwhile, flydubai services to Faisalabad, Multan, Quetta and Sialkot remain unaffected.

Flydubai boosts growth with 12 new aircraft deliveries in 2025
Flydubai has taken delivery of seven new aircraft so far in 2025, with a further five Boeing 737 MAX 8s scheduled to join its fleet before the end of the year. These additions form an integral part of the airline's strategic growth plans, enabling the continued expansion of its network, enhancing operational efficiency and increasing capacity on existing routes. The seven new aircraft, received between April and August 2025, have seen the flydubai fleet grow to 93 aircraft. Once all 12 aircraft have been delivered this year, flydubai's fleet will stand at more than 95 aircraft, supporting the carrier's growing network of more than 135 destinations in 57 countries. This expansion continues to open up underserved markets, creating more travel opportunities and further strengthening Dubai's position as a leading global aviation hub. Etihad Airways exceeds 20 million passengers in 12 months for first time
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has released its traffic statistics for July 2025, reporting continued growth in passenger volumes and network expansion. In July, Etihad carried 2.0 million passengers, a 19 percent increase compared to July 2024, when the airline flew 1.7 million guests. The passenger load factor rose to 90 percent, up from 89 percent in the same month last year, reflecting strong demand and efficient capacity management. Etihad's operating fleet now stands at 111 aircraft, supporting a growing network of 81 passenger destinations, up from 76 a year earlier. These figures underscore the airline's ongoing investment in fleet and route development. Etihad welcomed 12.2 million passengers year-to-date, a 17 percent increase over the same period in 2024. The average passenger load factor for 2025 so far is 88 percent, compared to 86 percent in the previous year. The airline's rolling 12-month total has reached 20.3 million passengers, further solidifying its position among the region's fastest-growing carriers.
