Steve Hofmeyr on choosing to STAY in SA amid 'white genocide'
The entertainer and activist has been vocal about 'racial discrimination' against white South Africans. In recent years, Hofmeyr has come under fire for his views on the k-word and the old SA flag.
On his social media accounts, Steve Hofmeyr has continued to post his controversial comments about the 'persecution' faced by white South Africans, particularly farmers.
However, many of his posts have irked the public.
When one X user asked Steve why he was still living in a country he believed endured 'white genocide', the singer recently responded: 'Because I can spend everything I make to safeguard my family. Most of my people can not'.
Another asked him when 'white genocide' began. He responded: 'The moment South Africans, post 1994, were excluded and denigrated because of our race'.
Like many South Africans, Steve Hofmeyr has experienced crime firsthand.
In 2010, he spoke out about witnessing a robbery at a local KFC restaurant. Although he did not come into contact with the attackers, he brazenly chased the armed men in his car for several kilometres.
In 2015, Hofmeyr's coastal holiday home in KwaZulu-Natal was robbed as he and his wife slept in their bedroom.
The thieves made off with several of his possessions in the middle of the night, but the performer was dragged for his comments about them.
He told the media: 'The stench [of them] still lingers in my home'.
He added, 'Some people said I should have been shot and killed. My culture and family do not scale fences to rape the elderly at midnight. Those nasty comments boggle the mind, but they go to prove that, mostly, we don't have the mindset or civil sensibilities to make this a better country. Not as long as the criminal is glorified.
In 2018, Steve Hofmeyr claimed that South Africans should own guns as a means of 'self-defense and protection' in 'the most violent rape and murder capital of be world'.

Katiso ‘KT' Molefe denied bail in DJ Sumbody murder case
Katiso 'KT' Molefe has been denied bail by the Alexandra Magistrates' Court in connection with the 2022 assassination of Oupa 'DJ Sumbody' Sefoka. Image: Simon Majadibodu/IOL Businessman Katiso 'KT' Molefe has been denied bail by the Alexandra Magistrates' Court in connection with the 2022 assassination of music producer and club owner Oupa 'DJ Sumbody' Sefoka. Magistrate Renier Boshoff ruled on Wednesday that Molefe failed to demonstrate exceptional circumstances to justify his release on bail. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on September 18, 2025. Boshoff said that Molefe also has a pending case in another court relating to the murder of Armand Swart, who was shot and killed on April 17, 2024. He said Molefe and his three co-accused - Michael Pule Tau, Musa Kekana, and Diego Floyd Mabusela - are implicated in multiple related cases. Molefe was arrested in July by the police's political killings task team in Gauteng. He faces several charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The state alleges Molefe orchestrated the fatal shooting of DJ Sumbody and his two bodyguards, Sibusiso Mokoena and Sandile Myeza, in Woodmead, Johannesburg, in November 2022. At the time of his arrest, he was already out on bail in a separate assassination case. His co-accused - Tau, Kekana, and Mabusela - have not applied for bail. In court, Boshoff referenced evidence presented by the state, including cellphone records and WhatsApp messages. He said the state had established a pattern of communication between Molefe and his co-accused, particularly following the DJ's murder. 'It is quite apparent that the gunmen were awaiting payment from the applicant for these hits,' Boshoff said. 'It is significant that the phones of accused one and two were picked up at the same cellphone tower as the applicant's on the same day - November 24.' He added that on that day, accused number one deposited R100,000 into his bank account, while accused two and three also made substantial deposits. Boshoff noted the geographical distances between the accused and the applicant's residence, suggesting coordinated movement. 'The cellphone records following these so-called hits are indeed very interesting,' he said. 'The accused one was frantically trying to reach the applicant moments after the Sandton shooting - no less than eight calls were made.' He further revealed that the accused one contacted Molefe after another killing - the murder of DJ Vintos in Orlando - and that Molefe had been actively involved in discussions around bail applications for his co-accused. 'On July 15, 2024, he sent a message to the accused 's wife: 'Appearance for bail application today. Next court appearance, bail will be granted for him,' said Boshoff. 'Then, on 2 August 2024, the applicant sent a WhatsApp message saying, 'Bail granted,' to which his friend replied, 'Good work, my brother.' The applicant responded, 'This is evidence of what teamwork can achieve, my brother.'' Boshoff said the state had presented strong evidence linking Molefe to the alleged criminal enterprise. 'Considering all the relevant facts and circumstances before the court, the court makes a value judgment and finds that the applicant failed to put forward exceptional circumstances justifying his release on bail,' he said. 'His application is accordingly refused.' Dressed in a suit, Molefe was told by the magistrate that his next court appearance would be on 18 September, when he is expected to appear alongside his co-accused for the indictment. IOL News previously reported that the same AK-47 rifle used in DJ Sumbody's killing was linked through ballistic analysis to three other high-profile murders: DJ Vintos, Armand Swart, and Don Tindleni. DJ Vintos, real name Hector Buthelezi, was shot dead outside a nightclub in Orlando East in March 2022. Tindleni was killed on the N1 highway near the N17 offramp in March 2023, while Swart was murdered in April 2024 in what investigators believe was a case of mistaken identity. 'Ballistics and other overwhelming evidence link the same suspects to all these murders,' SAPS national spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe previously said IOL News

During their last court appearance on August 8, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) regional spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila confirmed that a charge of kidnapping had also been added. 'They now face kidnapping, rape, and murder — the evidence we have at our disposal points to the two of them. We have overwhelming evidence, and that is the reason we believe they have a case to answer,' Ntabazalila said. Jack and Matyeseni are expected to apply for bail, but only if the address they provide to the court is verified. Their home was previously set alight by community members, prompting the State to argue that they are a flight risk and that bail should be opposed. Initially, the accused offered an alternative address, but the State deemed it unsuitable.

Capitec employee wins appeal against debarment over fraudulent transaction
A Capitec employee has successfully challenged his debarment by the bank. Image: Lubabalo Poswa/Independent Newspapers A Capitec Bank employee has successfully challenged his debarment, which occurred after the bank accused him of colluding with a colleague by accepting stolen money. Mhleli Glwala, who had diligently worked at the Gugulethu branch of Capitec since June 2015, faced a career upheaval when his colleague, known as DM, manipulated a client through a phone banking app. In June 2024, DM conducted an authorised transaction on the client's account, stealing R1000 through a cash send. He then contacted Glwala via WhatsApp, instructing him to withdraw the stolen funds, deposit R900 into his son's account, and keep R100 for himself. Following this request, the situation escalated when DM later demanded Glwala delete the WhatsApp message, a request he refused. An investigation ensued and Gwala provided the forensic team with the WhatsApp text. When the investigation was concluded, Glwala was charged with misconduct and accused of dishonesty for assisting DM to withdraw money he had fraudulently taken from a client's account. In his defence, Glwala denied any wrongdoing and maintained that he was unaware that the transaction was fraudulent. In July 2024, he was subjected to a polygraph test to verify the truthfulness of his claims and the test results indicated that he was not honest regarding his knowledge about the unauthorised nature of the transaction. During the disciplinary hearing, the bank focused on the polygraph results, however, Glwala presented evidence from DM who testified that he acted alone when defrauding the client and confirmed that Glwala was not aware of the nature of the transaction. However, the chairperson found him guilty of misconduct and noted that Glwala blindly followed through with instructions without verifying the source of the funds and reasons for DM's request. He was issued with a final written warning and a two day suspension. Despite the sanction, the bank initiated debarment proceedings against Glwala, and the panel decided to debar him in December 2024. Video Player is loading. Advertisement Next Stay Close ✕ Ad loading Glwala sought relief at the Financial Service Tribunal where he maintained that he was innocent and said when he withdrew the funds he believed he was assisting a senior colleague. To bolster his case, Glwala told the tribunal that he had provided the bank with unaltered WhatsApp conversations and argued that DM had testified to acting independently in committing the fraud, thus absolving him of any culpability. He also highlighted that the bank's own internal proceedings did not conclude his actions warranted dismissal, indicating a lack of justification for the penalty of debarment. He said he also offered to pay back the R100. The bank opposed Glwala's application, asserting that even if he claimed ignorance, his conduct demonstrated lack of honesty and integrity expected from financial service representatives. It was further argued that Glwala should have reported the unusual request for deletion of the WhatsApp message to his superiors, expressing concerns regarding his ethical judgment. The bank also relied heavily on the polygraph test and said the results supported their view that Gama was intentionally involved in the scheme and he willingly accepted the R100. Presiding over the matter, Advocate Kagiso Magano scrutinised the bank's stance, ultimately ruling in favour of Glwala. She stated that the assertions regarding Glwala's dishonesty were speculative and unsupported by concrete evidence. "None of the provided facts establish that he was dishonest. They don't provide direct insight into his state of mind or prove that he possessed a fraudulent bank's case is based on inference of knowledge, yet no direct evidence was presented to prove that Glwala was aware of the fraud," said advocate Maga She further added that the bank didn't challenge DM's testimony, and his evidence as the perpetrator provided a compelling alternative to Glwala's circumstantial case.
