Hyderabad: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Hyderabad, has welcomed its new student batch with a vibrant three-day orientation program that began on Wednesday.
The event marks the beginning of the academic journey for 248 fresh entrants—215 undergraduates and 33 postgraduates—who arrived from across India to embark on careers in design, fashion technology, and management.
The inaugural session, held at the NIFT Auditorium, was attended by distinguished guests including Prof. Dr. Malini Divakala, Director of NIFT Hyderabad, Joint Director Dr. Prithwiraj Mal, and former CAC Dr. M Annaji Sharma. Faculty Coordinators Prof. Jyothirmai S (CC-FP) and Prof. Rajyalakshmi (CC-FMS) also welcomed the incoming cohort.
During the session, students and their parents were introduced to campus facilities, academic departments, student clubs, and mentorship resources. Key highlights included presentations on student health services, banking and hostel arrangements, besides a guided campus tour. A special segment showcased the vibrancy of Hyderabad City, helping students acclimate to their new surroundings.
The orientation also spotlighted NIFT's commitment to holistic student development. Interactive initiatives such as 'Feel the Beat – Fuel the Health' (a Zumba wellness program), 'High on Life – Not on Substance,' and 'Sustainability Starts with You' were launched to promote healthy and responsible lifestyles. Networking events with NIFT's international linkage partners added a global dimension to the proceedings.
The final day, August 1, will culminate in a colourful cultural showcase titled 'Rang Tarang', starting at 2.30 PM in the auditorium. The talent show will feature performances from the newly admitted students and serve as a celebratory conclusion to the orientation.
NIFT Hyderabad's Orientation 2025 aims not just to induct students into academic life, but to ensure their social and emotional transition is both smooth and memorable, the NIFT Hyderabad director said.

Police launch a ‘champions league' to support anti-drug campaign in Kozhikode

The Kozhikode City police have launched Commissioner's Champions League - 2025, a yearlong anti-drug campaign using arts, sports and cultural activities as a medium to reach out to youngsters and transform them as ambassadors of the State against substance abuse. The project, conceived under the previously launched 'No Never' anti-drug initiative, will have the support of over 200 schools, 300 residents' associations, and 40 colleges in Kozhikode city. Leader boards will be prepared soon for these three segments to record the details of their monthly anti-drug activities and pick the winners every month for the Commissioner's Ever-Rolling Trophy for Anti-Drug programmes. The winner of the trophy will be announced at the end of the campaign based on the total leader board score. Events on the list According to the project coordinators, the participants of the competitive campaign can host anti-drug awareness rallies, mass runs, marathons, cycle and motorcycle rallies and awareness classes to earn points and mark them on the leader boards. There is a list of other possible activities like interactive sessions with people who have undergone de-addiction treatment, experience-sharing sessions with de-addiction treatment support providers, expert sessions with enforcement officers, doctors, and counsellors to earn points, they add. Arts events like stage shows, skits, flash mobs, musical performances and Zumba dance programmes can also be organised to secure good scores. Those who are passionate about sports events can host tournaments in football, volleyball, cricket, kabaddi, tug of war and chess. Off-stage events like poster making, essay writing and digital poster creation can also be conducted highlighting the anti-drug theme. How to claim points The organisers of each awareness event under the campaign can claim 10 points. An additional five points will be granted if the total number of participants in such programmes reaches 50. In the category of competitions, 20 points will be granted to the organisers. If the number of participants in such competitions touches 50, an additional 10 points will be granted. 'A nodal committee has been constituted under senior police officers to coordinate the district-level project implementation. The beat police officers will work as local coordinators in each police station. The Station House Officers will be responsible for submitting a daily report about the programmes held in their areas to the district-level committee for leaderboard entry,' said a senior police officer associated with the campaign. He said special jury awards would also be considered for outstanding awareness campaigns.

Ankita Lokhande's Wellness Routine Is All About Ancient Hacks And Ice Tub Face Dips

When it comes to her health and wellness, Ankita Lokhande keeps it holistic. Known for her work in the television industry, the actress recently took to her YouTube blog ANVI to share her fitness routine. Ankita Lokhande said that her routine is less about the gym and more about grounded rituals, inner peace and old-school home remedies. In her latest vlog, Ankita Lokhande takes her fans through her wellness journey, which is a blend of mindful living, traditional wisdom and body positivity. Ankita Lokhande's Wellness Routine Here's what the Pavitra Rishta actor does in her everyday life to stay healthy and glowing: 1. Follows A Morning Ritual Ankita Lokhande's day begins with intention. She soaks 2-3 strands of saffron in a silver glass overnight, then heads outdoors barefoot to greet the morning sun. She believes in talking to water to set affirmations – 'Speak in the present, like it's already done,' she says. This ritual, rooted in gratitude, helps her stay grounded and energetic. 2. Keeps Her Skin Glowing With Ice Cubes Forget fancy facials. Ankita Lokhande swears by a blend of flaxseeds, fenugreek seeds, aloe vera gel, rice water and vitamin E capsules – all frozen into ice cubes. She puts the ice cubes on her face every morning to make her skin glow. 'It's not once a week. It's every day.' 3. Dances Her Way To Fitness No treadmill in sight. Ankita Lokhande's go-to workout is dance - sometimes Zumba, sometimes YouTube walking workouts, or just vibing freestyle. 'I don't want to lose weight, nor do I want to build a body. I just want to stay fit and happy,' the actress says. 4. Ice Tub Face Dips For Skin She does the ice tub face dips for a glowing skin and to keep herself calm. A bowl of ice, lemon juice and cucumber slices becomes her morning reset button. 'It tightens your skin, slows down your thought process, and gives you calmness. As soon as it touches your nervous system, your anxiety drops.' She does it 10 times in one go. 5. Uses Power-Packed Herbal Water Ankita Lokhande and her husband, Vicky Jain, start the day with a herbal water blend that could rival any health store tonic. The mix? Fenugreek, cinnamon, fennel, carom seeds, aloe vera, garlic, lemon, Shilajit (gifted by Ali Goni), triphala, Brahmi, amla, ashwagandha, black seed oil, cow ghee and soaked nuts. 6. Roasted Seed Powder For Joints And Bones At night, Ankita Lokhande sits and relaxes with a traditional mix of roasted and powdered cumin, fennel and carom seeds - all dissolved in hot water. It is her go-to for bone and joint health. 'Your bones need love too,' she says. Ankita Lokhande admits she doesn't always feel like doing all this. Her approach to wellness is refreshingly honest and rooted in self-care, not aesthetics. As Ankita puts it best: 'Please take care of yourself. Because if you're there, the world is there.' Ankita Lokhande's wellness rituals are simple and easy to follow.
