Indian Army to raise all-arms brigade ‘Rudra', light commando battalions ‘Bhairav'
General Upendra Dwivedi said, "The Indian Army is in the process of raising an all-arms brigade named 'Rudra', wherein the fighting components of infantry, mechanised infantry, armoured units, artillery, special forces and Unmanned Aerial Systems will be integrated, backed by specially designed logistics and combat support.
These new regiments will be scaled-up brigades oriented for "agile movement and task-based configuration" pointed a source. And, "to begin with raisings are going on in a lesser number which can be counted on fingers," the source added.
Interestingly, the Army was already in a process, widely reported by The New Indian Express, of reorganising the fighting formations christened as Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs). While "each the IBG, once raised, would have been 'scaled down' Division, but the new brigades were planned to be slightly bigger than a Brigade formation" explained the source.
The initial proposals pertaining to the IBGs were that the IBGs are expected to be led by a Major-General rank officer. Each IBG will have a troop strength of around 5,000 personnel, larger than a brigade (3,000-3,500 troops) but smaller than a division (10,000-12,000 troops).
"This proposal has an additional complication for it was also linked with a proposal of abolishing the rank of Brigadiers." explained the sources quoted above.

NDTV reported, citing sources, that Suleiman Shah was a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist and an ex-commander of the Pakistani Army's Special Service Group (SSG). Later, he joined the terrorist outfit. The report further stated that Suleiman Shah infiltrated India in September 2023. Over a year later, in October 2024, he allegedly led a terrorist attack on a camp housing workers of a private firm, killing seven civilians. He was also reportedly involved in the Baramulla attack in which four security personnel lost their lives. The heinous terrorist attack outraged the entire country, and the government gave the Indian Armed Forces a free hand to avenge the brutal killings. Following this, the Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor' and carried out target-specific strikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), destroying nine terror bases. Pakistan retaliated to India's precision strikes by targeting military and civilian facilities, destroying scores of homes and other private property and religious places, including a temple, a gurdwara, and a church in Poonch district of Jammu division. In the resultant escalation, 18 defence bases of the Pakistan armed forces were damaged. Arunachal: Civil-military fusion meet sets roadmap for border development
Agency: Itanagar, Jul 28 (PTI) In a significant move to boost coordination and address critical development and strategic concerns in Arunachal Pradesh's border district of Anjaw, the first-ever civil-military fusion meeting was held at Hawai on Monday. Key outcomes included a proposal to institutionalise a joint coordination committee, discussions on boosting local livelihoods through Army procurement, and plans for regular fusion meetings to fast-track initiatives. Anjaw Deputy Commissioner Millo Kojin called for deeper collaboration between the civil administration and the Army, noting the latter's vital role in emergency logistics and development support, an official statement informed here. He emphasised aligning efforts with the vision of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Arunachal, and highlighted ITBP's Mission Himveer as a model, where 30 per cent of supplies are procured locally, for the Army to emulate. Kojin also proposed setting up CSD canteens in remote areas, offering skill development to youth, and supporting Agniveer recruitment through awareness drives. Administrative challenges like manpower shortage and road erosion in Mompani were also flagged. Commandant of the 82 Mountain Brigade, Brigadier Jaspreet Singh, stressed the Army's 'whole-of-nation' approach and urged the civil administration to support tourism promotion, especially in Walong. He called for joint efforts in improving Agniveer application rates through local outreach and motivation. Deputy Commander of the Brigade, Col Deepak Kataria, raised concerns about power shortfalls in Walong and Kibithu, poor banking access, and limited helicopter services affecting both tourism and emergency response. He pressed for urgent repair of key FSB routes (14, 16, and 17) and solid waste management systems to improve civic infrastructure. ‘Chinar Corps will invariably send terrorists to meet their maker': Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai
Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, the face of the Indian Army during Operation Sindoor and deputy chief of army staff (Strategy), praised the Chinar Corps for its role in Monday's encounter near Srinagar in which three terrorists, including Pahalgam attack mastermind Suleiman Shah, were neutralised. 'Sometimes, when you despair that results are not forthcoming, you only need to spare a thought for the tough terrain and conditions that affect such operations,' he wrote. He went on to commend the Chinar Corps' commitment to national security, saying, 'Never forget that the Chinar Corps will invariably send terrorists to meet their maker. Salute to the valiant warriors of this exalted outfit of the Indian Army.' The remarks came soon after the confirmation that three terrorists were killed in a joint operation, codenamed Operation Mahadev, launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Lidwas region near Dara, close to Dachigam National Park. Suleiman Shah, also known as Hashim Moosa, was the mastermind behind the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. Suleiman Shah had previously served in the Pakistan Army, reported NDTV. He was affiliated with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). 'It is a prolonged operation and is still continuing in which J&K police, paramilitary and army have an exchange of fire (with terrorists) in higher reaches. As per the interior reports, three bodies are being observed and seems to be neutralised. It is an ongoing operation and I would not like to divulge much at this moment. We will share details with you at an opportune time. It will take us some time for identification and all that. The (security) parties are still inside,' IGP Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi told the media.
