Indian Armys First Pahalgam Revenge: Ex-Pakistani Army Commando, LeT Terrorist Suleiman Shah Eliminated

India.com5 days ago
In a significant win for security forces, three terrorists were killed under 'Operation Mahadev' in the Dachigam area of Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar district on Monday. Among them were two terrorists linked to the brutal incident in Pahalgam on April 22, including Suleiman Shah, who was reportedly the mastermind.
All three were killed in an intense gunfight with security forces in the higher reaches of Dachigam National Park, near the Mahadev peak in the Harwan area of Srinagar.
This came after an anti-terrorist operation was started on Monday by the security forces in the Dachigam National Park.
Who Is Suleiman Shah?
NDTV reported, citing sources, that Suleiman Shah was a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist and an ex-commander of the Pakistani Army's Special Service Group (SSG). Later, he joined the terrorist outfit.
The report further stated that Suleiman Shah infiltrated India in September 2023. Over a year later, in October 2024, he allegedly led a terrorist attack on a camp housing workers of a private firm, killing seven civilians. He was also reportedly involved in the Baramulla attack in which four security personnel lost their lives.
The Indian Army, J&K Police, and the security forces have been launching aggressive anti-terrorist operations across the area targeting terrorists, Over Ground Workers (OGWs), and sympathisers of terrorism to dismantle the ecosystem of terror in the UT.
Operation Mahadev
IANS quoted an army official as saying, 'The operation is still going on in the area. The exact identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained.'
'The anti-terrorist operation was started following Intelligence inputs. Reinforcements were rushed to the spot as the area is densely populated and the terrain under operation is tough,' an official said.

Pahalgam, Operation Sindoor
In the April 22 incident in Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam, 26 people were killed. The heinous terrorist attack outraged the entire country, and the government gave the Indian Armed Forces a free hand to avenge the brutal killings.
Following this, the Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor' and carried out target-specific strikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), destroying nine terror bases.
Pakistan retaliated to India's precision strikes by targeting military and civilian facilities, destroying scores of homes and other private property and religious places, including a temple, a gurdwara, and a church in Poonch district of Jammu division. In the resultant escalation, 18 defence bases of the Pakistan armed forces were damaged.
However, on May 10, India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire agreement after Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) reached out to his Indian counterpart.

Pay heed to what J&K MPs are saying in Parliament: Mirwaiz to Centre

Hurriyat leader and chief priest of Jamia Masjid Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday hailed the efforts of Jammu and Kashmir members of parliament to express the sentiments of people in Parliament and urged the Centre to give a patient ear to them to lessen the 'dil ki doori'. (PTI File) At the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Mirwaiz welcomed J&K MPs' united stand in the Parliament during the discussion on Operation Sindoor. 'A few days ago, in the Parliament, there was a debate on the India–Pakistan war after the heinous Pahalgam incident, and different views by different political parties of India with regard to the war, its purpose, success or failure were put forward,' said Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while addressing the Friday congregation at the historic Jama Masjid, Srinagar. Mirwaiz said that very few, and mostly in the opposition, talked of the human aspect of the war, its costs therein, and its correlation to J&K, which reflects the mindset and mood of the times. He said that the three MPs from J&K - Mian Altaf and Agha Ruhullah from National Conference and Engineer Rashid from Awami Ittihad Party —were the only ones to highlight the concerns and plight of the people at the epicentre of the basic problem and the current debate. 'They were speaking with passion and pain about the disempowerment and dispossession of the people of J&K and expressing the sentiments of the people of J&K that we have all along been talking about. It is good to see that on these matters all are on the same page,' he said. He said that he can only hope that what they said was heard by those in power in New Delhi. 'And if they really want to lessen 'Dil ki Doori', they must pay heed to it,' he urged. Mirwaiz said he has always believed that neither war nor violence, or use of force can solve problems and lead to peace and prosperity, which he said the 'billions of people in the Indian subcontinent seek, and the swathes of poor in this region deserve'. 'Engagement at all levels is a far cheaper and evolved alternative,' he said.

Jury Chairman Reveals REAL Reason Why The Kerala Story Won 2 National Awards

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has slammed the 71st National Film Awards for The Kerala Story's wins. The 71st National Film Awards were announced on August 1, and The Kerala Story secured two wins. Sudipto Sen won the Best Direction Award, and Prasantanu Mohapatra won the Best Cinematography Award. The Kerala Story became a controversial release due to its subject. Many slammed the film as propaganda, and it faced widespread criticism for allegedly misrepresenting facts and portraying Kerala in a communal light. As The Kerala Story's wins raise some eyebrows, Jury Chairman Ashutosh Gowariker has revealed why the film won. He told NDTV, 'One is the cinematography award. The cinematography in The Kerala Story was very stark and realistic." He added, 'It didn't ever try to overpower the narrative; the images were created within the realm of things. So, we applauded that." As for Sudipto Sen's accolade, Gowariker said, 'It's a difficult topic and to convey that with the kind of clarity that as a jury we felt the need to applaud it." Gowariker said that while there were 'deliberations' in the jury about The Kerala Story, the film was awarded unanimously. Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has slammed the 71st National Film Awards for The Kerala Story's wins. In a statement, Chief Minister Vijayan said the film was 'made with lies to defame Kerala and spread communalism". He added that by honouring such a film, the awards jury had 'insulted the noble tradition of Indian cinema that stood for religious brotherhood and national integration" The Chief Minister further alleged that the move reflected the ideological agenda of the Sangh Parivar. 'They are implementing the Sangh Parivar agenda of turning cinema into a weapon to implement the communal agenda," he said. Vijayan urged all democratic-minded citizens and Malayalis to speak out against what he described as a grave injustice. 'Every Malayali and all democratic believers in the country should raise their voice against this injustice. We must rally against politics that turns art into a weapon to foster communalism," he stated. Additionally, Kerala's Education Minister V Sivankutty also voiced his disapproval. Released in 2023, The Kerala Story depicted the alleged radicalisation and trafficking of women from Kerala by ISIS, a narrative many have dismissed as exaggerated and misleading. The film was even banned in several Indian states. The film was headlined by Adah Sharma, who is celebrating the film's wins along with Sudipto Sen and the team.
