Fazura launches new single ‘Luar Biasa' with message of resilience, composed by Indonesia's Ade Govinda
What makes this song interesting is that it carries a message of strength and personal resurgence. A collaboration between Fazura Studios and Universal Music Malaysia, the song is composed entirely by Indonesian singer-songwriter Ade Govinda.
The 41-year-old singer, whose full name is Nur Fazura Sharifuddin, said the collaboration began after a brief online discussion that led to a creative process that took less than a week.
'Through a Zoom session, I immediately explained the concept of the song I wanted. I wanted something that could uplift the spirit — not a heartbreak song. Something suitable to listen to in the morning while driving, something inspirational,' she told reporters at the recent launch of her new song's music video here.
According to Fazura, what pleased her most was that the lyrics, written by Ade along with Veron Savanoah, required no changes as they perfectly conveyed the message she wanted to deliver. The core theme of the song is 'Failing is normal but rising is extraordinary'.
The 'Pendekar Awang: Darah Indera Gajah' actress also admitted to leaning more toward songs that empower, even though heartbreak songs usually receive more attention.
'As a woman, I think it's important for us to listen to songs that lift our spirits. If we listen to too many sad songs, we can get lost in our own emotions,' she said.
Meanwhile, Ade Govinda described Fazura as approachable, professional and easy to work with in any situation.
'She's very down-to-earth and when she's working, her mood quickly turns positive. She's punctual, quick and easy to manage,' he said. — Bernama

Remember the rapping cat TikTok? Its Chinese creator who beat Jay Chou is set to perform in KL and Sabah from Aug 29 (VIDEO)
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug – If you're an avid TikTok or Douyin user, chances are, you might have consciously or unconsciously heard one or two songs by up-and-coming Chinese rapper Skai Isyourgod. Hailing from the southern province of Guangdong, Skai Isyourgod or his Mandarin moniker Lǎn Lǎo is currently at the top of his game. Some of his songs have been trending on social media this year – this includes his half-AI generated rapping cat videos; but he has also overtaken the king of Mandopop Jay Chou on Spotify. At the time of writing, Skai currently has over five million monthly listeners on Spotify while Jay Chou's monthly listeners are just around 2.9 million on the music streaming platform. But for Malaysian fans, here's what you want to know – Skai revealed in a recent Instagram post that he will be having three shows here starting this month and continuing to September and November this year. But before that, here's a brief background on the 'Nin Jiom' rapper who is making waves globally with his catchy colloquial Canto-mix flow and Memphis-rap. Viral sensation Skai's big break came after his 2024 album 'Stacks From All Sides', released in August last year which contains at least three hit songs that went viral online such as Karma Code, Blueprint Supreme and Stacks From All Sides. Blueprint Supreme saw Skai fusing together Mandarin and Cantonese rap while also paying homage to his hometown by sampling off a famous 1957 Cantonese opera, Di Nü Hua which relates to the story of Princess Changping. Aside from causing trails of dance challenges on both Douyin and TikTok which also saw famous artists joining in the trend such as K-pop groups NCT and Enhypen, the track has also spawned a rather peculiar online challenge of taking selfie videos using chopsticks while jamming to the song. Similarly to the dance challenges videos, the chopsticks challenge also saw TikTok users taking part in it including Shotaro, a member of another famous South Korean group Riize, whose TikTok post alone has garnered over four million views. Meanwhile, his Stacks From All Sides track has become an online meme after non-Chinese speakers misheard part of its lyrics as 'sushi don't lie' instead of the famous Chinese phrase zǐ qì dōng lái' which means 'purple air comes from the east' which is also a symbol of good fortune. And that is not the only famous Chinese phrase that he used in the song as the track's official Mandarin title is called bā fāng lái cái, which means 'may wealth come from all directions' and Skai can also be heard using the phrase colloquially in the chorus simply by rapping 'lái cái', lái' (come wealth, come). Skai's unique implementation of Chinese phrases in his music doesn't end there as he can also be heard rapping 'God bless you with mountains of gold and silver' and 'God teaches you not to interrupt dragon-tiger fight' in another one of his viral songs titled Karma Code. Despite the old school Hong Kong gangster vibes in the lyrics – Karma Code has actually resulted in a rather cute TikTok trend where TikTok users can be seen sharing half AI generated videos of their pets, mostly cats, rapping the phrases from the track. World tour and three Malaysia stops? Following his shoot to popularity as well as in conjunction with the first year anniversary of his 2024 album 'Stacks From All Sides', Skai is gearing up for a world tour. Based on his latest Instagram post, Skai will be having not one but three shows in Malaysia, with two of them in KL and one in Sabah. His first two shows, starting from August 29 will take place in KL while the third on November 1 will be in Sabah. But so far, only the second show on September 19 has details; it will take place at the renowned Pitt Club KL located at the Life Center in Jalan Sultan Ismail. Sadly there are no venue or ticket details for the first KL show or the Sabah show apart from the dates. Aside from Malaysia, Skai will also be touring the UK, France, Australia, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar. He has already sold out in cities such as London, Auckland, Yangon and Sydney. Where to start with Skai Isyourgod? His 2024 album has been well received globally, but Skai's earlier works have quite a range of discography worth checking out, including his 2022 debut album SKAI IS YOUR GOD NO.1 which contains hit tracks such as Lanlao Life and Sample Soul. ‘Eternyl Vinyl' sets the record straight on how to listen to music

Like really sitting down with intention, picking an album, pressing play, and losing yourself completely in it – noticing the melodies, the subtle pluck of each instrument, and letting the music take you to another dimension. 'To actually enjoy music in its purest form … like the closest to what artistes recorded in the studio, I believe vinyl is the way to go, and many young people are returning to this nostalgic, vintage trend,' said founder of Eternyl Vinyl Café Lau Jay Earn, 21, who prefers to be known as Jay. His business partner Yap Ye Heng, 25, who goes by the name Bert, agreed. 'We believe that music is eternal, and the love for music is also eternal. So whether we are listening to a new or old song, I believe that every song should be appreciated, and valued, no matter which era they are from.' There are 15 listening stations here, equipped with a turntable and noise-cancelling headphones. (Andrea Edmonds @ FMT Lifestyle) To share that experience, Jay – who also runs two thrift stores in Subang – founded Eternyl Vinyl Café in Petaling Jaya, one of the few vinyl-listening cafés in the country. With over 500 records, the collection spans Elvis Presley, Elton John, Taylor Swift, Norah Jones, Nat King Cole, Billy Joel, and even movie soundtracks, offering something for everyone. 'I got into the whole vinyl hobby a year ago when I was in the UK. I started collecting records after that and set up a little listening corner in my room,' Jay shared, adding that his first ever vinyl record was a Beatles collection. 'One day we were just chatting and Jay thought why not share the vinyl experience with others? 'We know more young people are returning to this way of listening but we also understand that it is an expensive hobby. 'So, Jay wanted to open a space where anyone can come in and enjoy music this way,' Bert, a marketing strategist, added. Eternyl has over 500 vinyl records in its collection. The moment you step into the café, you're transported to a different world – one that feels like it's been lifted straight from the pages of a novel. The space is softly lit with amber lamps, dotted with potted plants in cosy corners, and furnished with low leather couches that seem to invite you to sink right in. Every detail is intentionally designed to create an atmosphere of calm and curiosity. You can browse through the records, pick a favourite, set it on a turntable at one of 15 listening stations, slip on a pair of noise-cancelling headphones, press play – and let the soft crackle of the vinyl transport you. Jay and his team keep it simple: for RM20, guests get 90 minutes to enjoy as many records as they like, one at a time. After getting a ticket, they can add a drink or a snack, scan a quick how-to guide, and head to a two- or four-seater table. 'We set it up so you can enjoy it with someone you love … your partner, your best friend, your sibling. It's not just about being alone with the music. It's also about connecting.' Since opening in mid-July, the café has struck a chord with music lovers – and the café is packed over the weekend. 'When someone tells us, 'This is my new favourite spot,' or, 'I could stay here all day,' it really affirms what we set out to do,' said Bert. 'We just want people to enjoy being here.' Ultimately, for both Jay and Bert, Eternyl Vinyl Café isn't just a niche space for audiophiles – it's an invitation for everyone to rediscover the joy of listening. It reflects their belief that music is timeless and the experience of truly listening should be too.
