First official pictures emerge of new Jeep Cherokee
Spy shots of camouflaged Cherokees emerged earlier this year. Due for an official debut late in 2025, new Cherokee is expected to launch globally in 2026.
The first images of this new LR Discovery competitor suggest that it borrows styling cues from the recently revealed Compass.
Underneath, this new version will bear no relation to its predecessor. For it will utilise the new Stellantis STLA Large underpinnings. That means it can be offered with hybrid and pure-electric power. Jeep has not confirmed which will debut first, nor are any technical details available.
However, it will be closely related to the next-generation Alfa Romeo Stelvio; the pair share the same platform.
The first images emerged just days after former Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa was named as the new CEO of Stellantis.
His replacement at Jeep, CEO Bob Broderdorf, said: 'The all-new Jeep Cherokee headlines our efforts to deliver more product, innovation, choice and standard content to customers than ever before.
'Jeep Cherokee will boast competitive pricing that strikes at the core of the largest vehicle segment and sits perfectly between Jeep Compass and Jeep Grand Cherokee to bolster our winning mainstream line-up.' Heritage is everything for new Jeep models.
These pictures confirm that the new Cherokee shares several design cues with the electric Wagoneer S, such as the sloping roofline, rear doors set into the wheel arches and door handles recessed into the body.
Up front is a more prominent version of Jeep's seven-slot grille, mirroring that on the latest Compass.
The ICE version of the new Cherokee may get the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre 'Hurricane' straight six from the petrol-powered Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. They are offered with outputs of 313 and 380kW.

Expect the electric Cherokee to come with the 447kW dual-motor, four-wheel-drive powertrain out of the Wagoneer S.
This is powered by a 118kWh NMC battery pack, giving it a range of 485km (EPA test), so at least 500km on the WLTP regime.
On the inside is an infotainment touchscreen similar to the 12.3-in unit featured in the Wagoneer S. It features rotary control dials on its sides.
Climate functions are operated using a touchbar recessed into the dashboard below the main screen. Jeep Recon has removable doors, like the outgoing Wrangler.
In other Jeep news, the Grand Cherokee will be withdrawn from sale in Europe soon to make room for the Wagoneer S. And the same may happen to the Wrangler, succeeded by the upcoming Recon EV (above).

Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo
An Opel Corsa GSE concept car for Gran Turismo previews a radical future supermini from the Stellantis group. The Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept represents a new and radical styling direction for Opel. It will turn up in the metal at the Munich Motor Show in September. Shortly thereafter, Gran Turismo gamers can race with it in the virtual world. This previews what the Corsa supermini of 2027 will look like. Well, more like the high-performance GSE version really. The concept is a three-door hatchback, with plenty of out-there design elements. There are staggered 21- and 22-inch wheels mounted within huge wheelarches. At the rear these are just regular exaggerated haunches. But up front they are separate from the body as 'spats' finished in a contrasting black colour. The 'Vizor' design signature is present at the front, complete with new lighting, creating a cruciform design. Being a concept car there are oversized air intakes and a bonnet vent, both finished in a contrasting yellow. Out the back are an enormous roof-mounted wing and rear diffuser, also yellow. Both are movable, extending to enhance aerodynamics at speed. Otherwise, the rear features a simple glazed tail that integrates an illuminated badge and a lightbar. Peer inside and there's pushrod Bilstein suspension for the rear axle. Moreover, there's a yoke-style racing wheel but no real interface. Instead, a head-up display and back-lit fabrics cover those off. Bucket seats comprise a squab mounted to the floor and a top section attached to the roof. The show car comes with two 300kW motors, one for each axle, delivering 600kW in total and 800Nm of torque. They draw power from an 82kWh battery pack. Unbelievably, the concept car weighs in at just 1170kg, and the claimed sprint time is 2sec. Its top speed is evidently just under 320km/h. The show car utilises the new SLTA-S platform, underpinning a range of Stellantis superminis and SUVs from next year. Expect a hot GSE version at some point, though a single motor, FWD layout is more likely than the concept's dual-motor set-up. The new Corsa won't show up for real until 2027.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon returns in 2.0 guise
The Jeep Wrangler line-up is growing with the recent arrival of the new 2.0L JL Wrangler Rubicon. It joins the 2.0L Wrangler Overland, which launched in New Zealand late last year. Sarah Williams, Head of Marketing for Jeep NZ commented: 'The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has always been a symbol of freedom and adventure. 'As the icon of the Jeep brand, it embodies the 'go anywhere, do anything' ethos. Now, with the new 2.0L powertrain, we're giving Kiwis even more ways to conquer off-road trails.' The Wrangler Overland 2.0L starts at $84,990. Meantime, the new Wrangler Rubicon 2.0L four-door with even greater off-road performance, asks $104,990. Under the hood, the 2.0 turbopetrol delivers 200kW of power and 400Nm of torque. With heaps of low end torque it also offers improved fuel efficiency (9.7L/100km overall, 218g/km). Helping in that regard is an eight-speed auto. The Rubicon also comes with a 12.3-Inch Uconnect 5 Touchscreen with wireless ACP and AA connectivity. Safety Features include side curtain airbags front and rear, and seat reminder alerts (4DR) in the back. With removable roof panels, the Wrangler offers an open-air driving convertible vibe, ideal for the city streets or remote trails on perfect days. For back country adventuring, count on front and rear locking differentials, a two-speed transfer case, four skid plates, and the Rock-Trac 4×4 System with a 4:1 low gear ratio and 77.2:1 crawl ratio. Rubicon also comes with a heavy-duty Dana full-float rear axle and electronic front sway bar disconnect. A forward-facing Trail Cam off-road camera eliminates blind spots while navigating challenging terrain. So the Wrangler is at home pretty much everywhere you can imagine. Futuristic concept car hints at new Opel Corsa
A new unnamed concept car from Opel hints at a sporty Corsa GSE hot hatch. Teaser shots were released by Stellantis overnight. The next-generation Opel Corsa is due out in 2026, and the company is giving an initial glimpse of the all-new supermini. It is set to reveal the concept car imminently, more than likely at the Munich motor show. Expect it to feature new interpretations of some classic styling elements. Opel's 'compass' DRL (daylight running lights) arrangement will incorporate slim horizontal and vertical light strips. An illuminated badge grabs attention to the centre of the Vizor grille. This is similar to the design of the Vauxhall Experimental concept from 2023 (first image). The rear will sport illuminated Vauxhall lettering between similarly thin light strips, with a floating vertical strip below that. Further down appears to be a large rear diffuser. Expect an aerodynamic wheel design too. A hot GSE version of the next Corsa has been in the wings for a while. Opel evidently has high hopes for this new model. It is promising to 'explore the boundaries of battery-electric performance vehicles'. Opel has even gone to the trouble of fitting the concept with a roll cage and motorsport-style bucket seat. Evidently the concept is race track ready. Be that as it may, you can be sure the future road-going Corsa will have more modest ambitions. The square-shaped steering wheel also looks like it was inspired by motorsport, with a press-to-pass button.
