UNC basketball offers rising three-star shooting guard
North Carolina basketball head coach Hubert Davis has his eyes on some rising prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, as evident by new offers on Thursday. After the Tar Heels offered a four-star point guard earlier in the day, they also extended an offer to another prospect.
Three-star shooting guard Kohl Rosario was the latest prospect to pick up an offer from UNC, doing so on Thursday night. And the Tar Heels are the latest blue blood program to enter the race.

In a span of three days, Rosario has picked up offers from Kansas, Duke, and now North Carolina after his strong play on the AAU circuit. His stock is on the rise as a prospect coming off a big performance in the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament, scoring 30 points in a game.
The 6-foot-5, 185-pound Rosario hails out of Hudson, North Carolina and plays at Moravian Prep. He's ranked No. 120 nationally, the No. 21 shooting guard and No. 5 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
In the composite rankings, he's a four-star recruit and a top 100 prospect. His recent play and the addition of offers from blue blood programs should also see his rank increase over time. For North Carolina, it will be interesting to see how much of a priority they make Rosario moving forward.

The top-ranked and No. 5 national seed Tar Heels scored eight runs in the first two innings, three on Stokely's home run that made it a 5-1 game in the first inning. Stevenson's three-run home run in the second made it 8-1. Stokely added an RBI-single in the fourth and another in the eighth inning. Stevenson drove in North Carolina's first run back in the first inning. Sam Angelo hit a three-run home run in the eighth and Kane Kepley's solo home run later in the inning made it 18-2. Gavin Gallaher had four hits and scored three runs. Kepley and Jackson Van De Brake each scored four times for the Tar Heels. The first five batters in the order had 13 hits and drove in 12 runs. They scored 15 runs. Adonys Guzman drove in a run with a single in the first inning and Easton Breyfogle added a sacrifice fly in the fourth for Arizona's two runs. Owen Kramkowski (9-6) allowed eight runs in an inning and a third. North Carolina (46-13) is playing in a Super Regional for the 12th time, having advanced eight times previously.

Greater Birmingham Humane Society reaches capacity, waives adoption fees
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Greater Birmingham Humane Society shelter is at capacity, and they need your help to save the lives of dogs and cats. 'Definitely if they've been thinking about adopting a pet, this is the time to adopt. If they're at all interested in fostering a pet, this is absolutely the time to foster,' said Ivana Sullivan, the Chief Program Officer for the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. On Friday and Saturday, GBHS is waiving adoption fees at all their locations in hopes of finding homes for the dozens of animals they are sheltering. The only fee that will need to be paid is the $10 micro chip fee. This week the CEO of the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, Allison Black Cornelius took to Facebook with an urgent plea: 'We are in a crisis here at GBHS, a major crisis, we're full, we're beyond full, and animals like Rex need a home,' she explained. Ivana Sullivan, the Chief Program Officer, talked about what led to this situation: 'We've got lots of folks trying to surrender their pets, we've got lots and lots of strays in Jefferson County that are coming into the shelter for their stray holds and so we just only have so many kennels.' In her Facebook post, Cornelius mentioned that they have not had to euthanize for space in a long time, but they're having to do so now. 'It's very devastating,' Sullivan remarked when asked about this 'because you get to a point where there's just no where to put these animals.' The state of Alabama does not require pets be spayed or neutered. Sullivan said that needs to change: 'There definitely needs to be some sort of mandatory solution to this so this can stop, animals in the shelter is just not the solution, we've got to do better.' Texas A&M basketball re-offers 2027 5-star small forward With Texas A&M's basketball program under new management, head coach Bucky McMillan is off and running this offseason after adding 13 players to the 2025 roster, including highly coveted Spanish guard Rubén Domínguez, who announced his commitment on Friday afternoon.
