Delays are expected on a key southern route on the Isle of Man for the next seven weeks, the Department of Infrastructure has said.A 30mph (48km/h) speed limit has been put in place on the New Castletown Road while it is resurfaced. Temporary traffic light are also in place on the busy route, which links the Manx capital to the south of the island.It coincides with drainage works on the Old Castletown Road, which also has also seen traffic management put in place.
The department said two way traffic would be maintained during the works on both roads.

It said the two planned phases of the work to resurface Higham Road and install new traffic signals were:From Monday 21 July to Friday 29 August: Higham Road will be closed and two-way temporary traffic lights in place 24-hours a day on the A6 along the Burton Latimer/Higham Ferrers interchangeFrom Friday 29 August to Monday 22 September: Higham Road will remain closed, with two-way traffic lights on the A6 only during the hours of 08:00 to 17:00 BST. Outside these hours, the A6 will remain McGiffen, North Northamptonshire Council's Reform UK executive member for highways and travel, said: "Once complete, this work will make a significant difference to this particular stretch of the A6 - improving safety for all users."We understand that any disruption can be frustrating, but the long-term benefits will outweigh the short-term delays."He said the council appreciated residents' patience while the work was carried works along the A6 are part of the Safer Roads Fund, a road safety initiative for local authorities funded by the Department for Transport. Owners cars "abandoned" in a supermarket carpark have been warned that they will be removed if not picked up within two Department of Infrastructure (DOI) parking team has placed fixed notices on about a dozen vehicles in the car park of the Tesco store on Lake Road, Douglas, after receiving complaints. Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood said the department has "a duty to deal with vehicles that are illegally parked, especially seemingly abandoned in car parks". The DOI has the power to remove vehicles on any land on the Isle of Man, she said."We urge vehicle owners to park legally and responsibly so they don't inconvenience either residents or impact on businesses," she added.
