Trade Arabia24-04-2025

Al Khayyat Investments (AKI), a UAE-based business group, has announced the opening of its new Fulfilment & Innovation Centre in Dubai Industrial City, part of Tecom Group that will serve as a cornerstone for the company's continued regional expansion as well as raising the benchmark in agile, sustainable supply chain operations in the UAE.
Spanning 1 million sq ft, the facility quadruples AKI's fulfilment capacity in the UAE while enabling faster and more efficient delivery of goods to its extensive partner and customer network.
Initially, the centre will focus on supporting AKI's growing retail, e-commerce, and distribution businesses, serving more than 30,000 business customers as well as supporting home delivery services for consumers.
The centre already has an on-time delivery rate of 98.5% for orders requested within 24 hours, it stated.
AKI said it achieves this through multiple storage solution systems, with a capacity of 78,000 pallets and 67,000 bins.
The site already handles over half a million units per day, with the capability to triple this figure. It includes provisions to expand by nearly 200,000 sq ft and adding 22,000 additional pallet positions in the near future, said the UAE group in a statement.
Operations are supported by a fleet of over 150 vehicles, with the warehouse processing an average of 65,000 orders per month. This includes approximately 17 million units shipped monthly, with an average of 23,000 unique B2B customer deliveries, it added.
Zaid S. Al Khayyat, Managing Director of AKI, said: "This represents a pivotal moment for AKI as we innovate across a diverse portfolio of businesses and partnerships to bring more people the things that matter to them," states Al Khayyat.
"Yet this facility is not just about enhancing our own operations. It is a strategic investment that creates long-term value for our partners and customers, while contributing to the UAE's future-focused economy. Above all, it represents the power of our people driving our business forward every day," he added.
Lauding the move, Saud Abu Alshawareb, Executive Vice President – Industrial at Tecom Group, said: "Dubai Industrial City is proud to be the home of AKI's new fulfilment centre. Our district's proximity to Jebel Ali Port, Al Maktoum International Airport, and an Etihad Rail freight terminal enables connectivity for Al Khayyat Investments' new fulfilment centre and sets it up for long-term success."
"Home to more than 1,100 manufacturing champions and 350 operational factories, Dubai Industrial City is committed to supporting such strategically significant projects, in line with Operation 300bn, Make it in the Emirates, and Dubai Economic Agenda 'D33'," stated Alshawareb.
Samer Sabri, Group Chief Supply Chain Officer at AKI, said: "This facility is a testament to the extraordinary teams within AKI who embrace diverse thinking to push boundaries, do more, and set the benchmark in supply chain excellence."
"The facility will truly redefine AKI's position within the UAE market, ensuring swifter and more efficient distribution capabilities for our growing business ecosystem," noted Sabri.
According to him, the centre's design reinforces how AKI is leading the way in digital transformation and sustainability within supply chain operations, with a fully paperless environment.

Khazna Data Centers, NVIDIA join to develop AI factories in region

Aligning with growing demand for AI infrastructure, Khazna Data Centers (Khazna), a global leader in hyperscale digital infrastructure, today announced it is collaborating with NVIDIA to build AI factories in the MEA region. Following the high-profile visit of US President Donald Trump to the UAE, and the announcement of a planned 5GW UAE-US AI campus, the collaboration is another example of the deepening ties between the region and US technology leaders in shaping the future of AI and digital infrastructure, a statement said. Through this collaboration, NVIDIA has certified the design of Khazna's next-generation facilities to support the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture. Khazna's ongoing and upcoming infrastructure developments will feature NVIDIA-ready blueprints as standard, ensuring full compatibility with the latest GPU-accelerated workloads. Khazna will design the majority of its future data halls with capacities of up to 50MW, developing individual AI clusters of up to 250MW. With many of these data halls situated in the planned UAE-US AI campus, this will place the UAE among the world's most advanced AI infrastructure hubs. Khazna is also expanding rapidly across the Middle East, Africa and Europe, with plans to scale up to 1GW of capacity in countries such as France, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Türkiye, and Kenya. 'The world is entering a new era of AI-driven innovation, and the UAE is uniquely positioned to lead. Our work with NVIDIA represents a bold step forward in delivering high-performance, future-ready infrastructure at unprecedented scale. New Kezad Business District to come up in Abu Dhabi

Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi - Kezad Group, one of the largest operators of integrated and purpose-built economic zones in the region, has announced the development of Kezad Business District (KBD), Abu Dhabi's newest business destination. Strategically located with frontage at the gateway of the E11 arterial corridor between the UAE capital and northern emirates, Kezad Business District is part of the wider 410 sq km-Kezad Al Ma'mourah master development. Initially planned over approximately 3 sq km, the area will be developed in phases with infrastructure works currently underway. New developments include a 21,000 sq m office tower, sporting facilities and food and beverage (F&B) retail facilities adjacent to the Kezad Group HQ building, Kezad One. Kezad Business District is located along the E11 inter-emirate highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and provides exceptional connectivity to all major logistics, industrial and business areas within short driving distance. Kezad Business District is planned as an integrated mixed use commercial hub that will enable close collaboration between academia, businesses and industry while having a thriving social pulse. The district is also advantageously located next to three landmark projects: the 70,000 sq m twofour54 media production campus; the 3.3 sq km Abu Dhabi Food Hub, and the 3.3 sq km Global Auto Hub – the latter two being developed by Kezad Group as part of a pioneering public-private investment. Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO, Economic Cities and Free Zones, AD Ports Group, said: 'The ambition and inventiveness that we have applied to developing and operating one of the world's most integrated, thriving and largest industrial ecosystems is the same one that we will employ to deliver a next-generation business district that will further elevate Abu Dhabi's proposition to global investors. The development of Kezad Business District continues Kezad Group's investment in Abu Dhabi's polycentric urban expansion, with Kezad Al Ma'mourah seen as a critical economic centre in the nation's future-forward growth strategies.' 'Aside from re-emphasising our commitment to provide our investors with end-to-end solutions to grow their businesses, Kezad Business District will offer development opportunities and catalyse new investments in the wider Kezad Al Ma'mourah masterplan. We are very proud and excited to attract new, frontier businesses and commercial activities that will propel our nation's economy into the future.' Kezad Business District is extraordinarily located at the confluence of major transport links with Khalifa Port being only 15 minutes away, Zayed International Airport being a 25-minute drive away, and linked to rest of UAE by the high-speed Etihad Rail and two major highways. With unparalleled proximity to Dubai, Kezad Business District is less than a 30-minute drive away from Jebel Ali Port and Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International Airport. When completed, Kezad Business District will serve as an attractive site for investors to set up their regional headquarters, research and innovation centres, training facilities and other operations, and a compelling option complementing service providers, educational institutes, etc. Serving as a secondary business district comprising a commercial hub with a vibrant mix of office, retail, residential, lodging, education, professional training and leisure components, Kezad Business District aims to establish itself as a major commercial centre, and the heart of Kezad's advanced manufacturing and economic ecosystem.

Dutco, Sweid & Sweid launch Dubai's largest private logistics park

Dutco and Sweid & Sweid have announced the launch of Terralogix — Dubai's largest privately-owned logistics park, in a move that reinforces Dubai's ambitions to become one of the world's top five Grade-A logistics hubs. Located in Warsan, Northern Dubai, the 3.3 million sq ft development is designed to serve as a critical node in Dubai's supply chain infrastructure, a statement said. Maher Sweid, Founder and Managing Partner of Sweid & Sweid, commented: 'Terralogix will be developed by Dutco and Sweid & Sweid — two UAE-based firms with strong heritage and established track records. The Dutco Group brings decades of expertise across many sectors including construction, hospitality, real estate, and oil and gas, while Sweid & Sweid is known for developing high quality, institutional-grade real estate assets. Together, we will be delivering Terralogix as a landmark project to spearhead the evolution of Dubai's industrial sector.' Terralogix stands out for both its location and adaptability. As one of the few large-scale logistics developments in Northern Dubai, it provides access to areas underserved by other logistics facilities largely concentrated in Southern Dubai. The park's modular design and flexible leasing model allow tenants to scale, expand, or custom-build their facilities to meet their exact requirements. Phase One is already underway, and scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2026. Nelson Gibb, CEO of Dutco Group, commented: 'As the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 accelerates toward its target of doubling the city's economy by 2033, logistics and trade sit at the heart of that vision. The project brings meaningful new capacity to a sector under pressure from surging demand and limited supply. With direct connectivity to major highways and immediate access to airports and seaports, Terralogix is well positioned to support businesses operating across the UAE and the wider region.' –
