#SHOWBIZ: Bella Astillah apologises if videos with Syed Saddiq may irk some

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer and actress Bella Astillah apologises if anyone has become uncomfortable with the various social media content featuring her alongside Muar member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
Bella, 31, whose real name is Dayang Ara Nabella Awang Astillah, said the video posts uploaded to social media were part of her work commitments.
"To everyone out there, I understand that some might feel uneasy with those videos. However, everything is actually part of a collaboration that we are required to fulfill.
"For example, a client has helped us by providing aid to Sabah and Muar, so we need to return the favour by giving them some publicity such as doing live sessions together," she said during the launch of her new song, 'Lebih Indah Berpisah', composed and written by Indonesian musician and composer Ade Govinda held here earlier today.
When asked if the closeness between her and Syed Saddiq was merely for show, Bella said the interactions shown were all spontaneous.
"Syed Saddiq is not an actor, so it was all spontaneous. We were just doing the assigned job. For example, this month we had to do four postings, so we focused on that. But we were never required to act or anything like that," she said.
Bella gave a similar answer when asked about the nature of her relationship with the politician.
"When it comes to talking about relationships, I'm not comfortable talking about it.
"Not only because I'm a woman, but also a mother of two. To speak openly about it is a bit improper for me. What I can say is, just pray for the best for me.
"I know it sounds cliché, but it really is the best.As for future plans, there are many things that I need to prioritise such as family and career," she added.
In other developments, following the success of her previous single 'Tapi Bukan Denganmu,' Bella is thrilled that now she has a new one.
The new single, is a special collaborative project with the renowned Indonesian musician.
Bella said the song 'Lebih Indah Berpisah holds' a special meaning for her.
"This song was beautifully created by Ade. Its simple message is that sometimes, in a relationship, it is much better to go on separate ways," she said.
Bella married Aliff Aziz on Sept 9, 2016, but the couple divorced for the second time on June 13 last year at the Federal Territories Syariah Court.
They have two children together, Ayden Adrean, 8, and Ara Adreanna, 5.

'Their return to Malaysia is more than a performance, it is a cultural moment. With Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil as the new venue, we are ready to etch this event into the history of live music festivals in Malaysia,' Rohit said. The move to Bukit Jalil, Malaysia's largest stadium, is a bold step that not only elevates the scale but also honours the emotional gravity of the event. After a thunderous reception to the Phase 1 lineup earlier in May, the decision to expand comes as no surprise. Fans were already snapping up tickets even before the full list of performers was released, signaling just how deep the appetite is for a festival that bridges nations and generations. Pestapora Festival Director and Boss Creator Co-Founder, Kiki Ucup, echoes the sentiment. 'Pestapora is a celebration of music and community. Bringing that spirit to Malaysia is a natural next step for us. With Sheila On 7, Nadin Amizah and ALVN added in the lineup, we hope to further unite the two nations in one vibrant, love-filled, music-powered experience,' Kiki said. Organised by Hitman Solutions and Boss Creator, the same teams behind the original Pestapora festival in Jakarta, this Malaysian edition is more than just a musical showcase, it is a full-blown celebration of Nusantara culture, spirit and sound. And the lineup does not stop there. The already-packed Phase 1 roster includes fan-favourites such Hindia, Pamungkas, Feel Koplo, Malaysia's very own Bittersweet, Bunkface, Dolla and many more. It is a cross-border sonic adventure designed to thrill both the nostalgic hearts and fresh ears of today's listeners. Nadin Amizah (left) and ALVN. Melly Goeslaw's prom-themed concert served nostalgia and some disappointments

While the show was filled with heartfelt moments and high-energy performances, it wasn't without its drawbacks. By SHAH SHAMSHIRI 03 Jun 2025 11:53am Melly brought her popular concert series back with Prom Nite, following two crowd-favourite editions. Photo: Bangsawan Pictures Dubbed as Indonesia's queen of soundtracks, Indonesian singer-songwriter Melly Goeslaw once again took centre stage at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur as she performed at the Ada Apa Dengan Melly Concert – Prom Nite Edition. This concert marked the third instalment of her popular concert series, following the earlier Ada Apa Dengan Melly...? (Back to School) and Ada Apa Dengan Melly & Friends (Malam Graduasi). For many hard-core fans and those who missed out on the previous two events, this was their golden opportunity to finally witness Melly live in action. Celebrated for her remarkable contributions to the Indonesian and Malaysian music scenes, Melly performed not only her own songs but also those she had written for numerous other vocalists. From sweeping ballads to youthful anthems, her setlist showcased her lasting impact as a songwriter whose work has stood the test of time. However, while the show was filled with heartfelt moments and high-energy performances, it wasn't without its the evening, many fans noticed that Melly's vocals were not at their best, with several moments where she encouraged the audience to sing along—or more accurately, sing for her. While this created a communal concert vibe, it also subtly pointed to a performance that was vocally underwhelming. Melly encouraged fans to sing along throughout the night, creating a lively crowd vibe, though some felt her vocals didn't quite hit the mark. Photo: Bangsawan Pictures The redeeming moment of the night came in the form of Malaysia's powerhouse vocalist Aina Abdul, who took to the stage and stole the spotlight with her stunning rendition of Cinta, a song originally performed by Melly and Kris Dayanti. Aina's commanding vocals and stage presence earned her roaring applause and left a lasting impression. Melly also took a moment to honour her Malaysian fans with a medley of iconic local hits: Janji Manis by Aishah, Betapa Ku Cinta Padamu by Siti Nurhaliza, and Isabella by Search. Aina Abdul delivered a show-stopping version of Cinta, leaving the crowd in awe. Photo: Bangsawan Pictures The crowd went wild, especially as both Siti Nurhaliza and Amy Search were spotted in the VIP section, singing along with evident joy. Also in attendance were Indonesian stars Rossa and Raffi Ahmad, lending their support to the beloved songstress. But the highlight many fans had been eagerly anticipating was the appearance of Indonesian heart-throb Nicholas Saputra, who graced the stage to deliver the iconic poem from the cult classic Ada Apa Dengan Cinta. Emotions ran high as three lucky fans—women who admitted to having recently endured heartbreak—were invited on stage to meet Nicholas in person alongside Melly. The moment was a fangirl dream come true, and the screams from the audience were deafening. Although Melly's vocal performance didn't quite hit the mark, the night was a triumphant celebration of nostalgia. Fans were transported back to the golden era of Indonesian movie soundtracks, with songs that defined the adolescence and memories of a generation. Prom Nite gave fans something deeper: connection and nostalgia. Photo: Bangsawan Pictures The setlist was a mix of legendary hits and crowd favourites, including: Ku Bahagia (opening with a full string and orchestral arrangement), Ingin Mencintai dan Dicintai, a medley of Bimbang and Denting, Di Mana Malumu, Hanya Memuji, Tentang Seseorang, Berdua Lebih Baik, Jangan Pernah Berubah, Bunda (with rising Indonesian star Dinda Ghania), and many others. All in all, Ada Apa Dengan Melly: Prom Nite may not have delivered a perfect vocal performance, but it offered something just as valuable—a shared experience of music, memory, and the emotional resonance of growing up with Melly Goeslaw's legendary soundtracks.
