These Are The Cars You Could Drive Forever
While the Toyota Century wins in my book, there are plenty of other good suggestions in here. Scroll on, if you dare.

It'll Survive The Centuries
A car to drive forever has to be a car with a good chance to last forever. My first choice would be an early-1990s Mercedes E-Class, preferably the 1993-95 model (dual airbags), preferably a wagon, straight six, no AWD, after the head gasket and wiring harness has been replaced. Not the most exciting choice, but possibly the most durable.

A Quieter Kind Of Class Speaks Volumes
I need a comfortable car, soundproofed, with a great sound system and a look that will never age (or will always be dated). So it will be a Toyota Century.

Beautiful, Powerful And Classy — The Perfect Car For All Eternity
Bentley Continental GT. Normally this would be a car I would be too scared to own due to reliability issues and high maintenance costs. But if this car is going to be granted immortality...then sign me up.

Everyone Loves A French Vampire (Car)
If repairs don't count: Peugeot 504 (or 505 wagon). Most comfortable seats ever. And I think the smell of diesel actually provides nutrition, I love it so much.
Mom had one in the 80's. It never quit running, just ran out of power to get up the steep grade home. After the tow home and engine tear down, we found every single ring was broken.
If repairs count: Volvo 240 Wagon (maybe put those Peugeot seats in it, but the Volvo seats were pretty awesome too).

Parts Market Won't Matter Once You And Your Lexus Are Immortal
98-00 Lexus SC400
Timeless styling, superb engine, comfortable seats, reliable, easy to DIY stuff, and from the peak Toyota era. Only problem is parts are drying up and aftermarket support is slim to none.

Got To Out Run Those Future Cars
Aston Martin's DB9 GT. It is a timeless design that will always be beautiful. And with 540 horsepower, it will certainly keep up with traffic 50 years from now.

Real Love Lasts Forever
I'm already driving it. My 2014 X5 diesel at 155K miles is still in excellent shape with neither mechanical nor electrical issues (the automatic-closing doors still work). The body has seen better days with typical scrapes and scratches but no rust and it still rides and handles like new with no squeaks and rattles.
On the functional size, I can easily squeeze 700 miles of range on a tank of diesel and it just managed a crazy 35.5 mpg on a recent 450 mile road trip (the tires were a bit over-inflated due to the high ambient temperature). It has decent-enough ground clearance for an SUV designed predominantly for on-road use, and can fit a ton of people and stuff. When something breaks, I fix it myself or take it to my indie Bimmer mechanic who fixes it at a reasonable cost. It also has 19" wheels and fairly thick tires (compared to newer SUVs with low profile tires) to handle rough roads.
I can't imagine getting rid of it because it is worth way more to me than the $13K I would get on the resale market. It is the perfect car for dirty/damaging jobs (either taking it into the city or loading it with gear from Home Depot) and, aside from consumables, costs me only a few hundred per year to keep on the road. And where else can I find a 2.5 ton SUV that yields over 35 mpg? The penalty box GMC Terrain (1.6 T) I had in the past year could barely hit 24 mpg on the highway, which is very, very bad for an economy car.

This Car Is Actually Already An Unkillable Vampire Car
Gonna go straight to my heart, my first car. A teal green 1998 Pontiac Grand Am SE. It's not pretty, it's not evocative, it's not reliable, it's not fast, but it's me. It was a car that to this day my friends will bring up in story, like it was a legend. There are days where I get a little wistful about that car and if I could drive it forever, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Not Very Vampy, But Very Reliable
If I look back at how I've used cars over the course of my life, I hate to say it but my forever car would probably be a Subaru Outback.
8 hours on the freeway (which I unfortunately do a LOT)? effortless and relatively comfortable and quiet.
Carry 2 bikes and gear and a canoe into the nort'woods? No Problem.
Carry kids and us halfway across the country? Actually comfortable. Except for the farting. Subaru, please install odor absorbing rear seats.
Picking up lumber? Carrying 4x8 sheets of plywood? Yay roof rack.
Decent gas mileage? Relatively inexpensive maintenance? Boringly reliable? yup.
As much as I'd love to list something cool, this is really how I drive. My car will never be the excitement, it will always be the means to get to the excitement. And as such, the Outback really is perfect.

The Toyota Camry Of The 1950s
My '55 Bel-Air. LS3, Tremec TKX, never fails to put me in a good mood and a smile on my face. If we're both immortal, then I would look forward to the feeling that car gives me after every drive for-ev-er.

If You're A Vampire, You Should Def Just Avoid Winter
Porsche 964 C2 Coupe is a drive forever car paired with a 2006 vintage Subaru Forester turbo lovingly cared for, and massaged on. And yes, I would drive both cars year around!

Mad Scientists At Kawasaki Shoved A 250-HP Supercharged Motorcycle Engine In A Side-By-Side To Beat Can-Am And Polaris At Their Own Game
If any automaker in the world dropped a new track-oriented sports car tomorrow with a mid-mounted supercharged one-liter inline-4 engine, four-wheel drive and a 2,363-pound curb weight, real driving enthusiasts would worship at its altar forevermore. Those specs in an off-road toy from Team Green don't seem to move the needle quite as much, but they damn well should! Kawasaki launched the new 2026 Teryx H2 this week to little fanfare, but this off-road monster is an incredible fun-per-dollar proposition. I might even argue that it's significantly more fun to drive than whatever track car or motorcycle you're building, and with seats for five this thing lets you bring the whole family along. Just looking at the name you can instantly see what Kawasaki have done. The company's somewhat also-ran Teryx side-by-side has been given a monster revamp with power from the company's incredible (but discontinued) Ninja H2 superbike. In order to keep up with the 240-hp Can Am Maverick R or 225-hp Polaris RZR Pro R, Kawasaki has gone ahead and cranked the knob all the way to 12 with 250 supercharged ponies on tap. That supercharger is working overtime, too, pushing almost 35 pounds per square inch of boost into the engine while the impeller spins at up to 130,000 rpm. Watch out dirt nerds, there's a new high-tech high-power flagship side by side in town. Like most side by sides, the Teryx makes use of a continuously variable transmission. Though unlike other side by sides, the supercharged engine is much less peaky than the turbocharged high-revvers from the competition, meaning power delivery should be better matched to the CVT. Whether you're planning to use a Teryx H2 for your weekend rips at Glamis or in competition at Baja, this extra power should be perfectly useable. Read more: These Are Lesser-Known Automotive YouTubers Our Readers Say Deserve More Attention King Of The Desert If you're a little afraid of giving your Teryx H2 a bootful of throttle, it thankfully offers three selectable drive modes. Low Power mode reduces output to about 60%, while Mid Power jumps up to 80%, and Full gives it the beans. If you're just getting used to your new ride, it's nice to know that you can dial it back for a bit until you feel comfortable with it. 150 ponies in low power mode is still enough to give you the willies if you get too wild with it. OK, so this thing is about more than just an engine, right? With a wide stance and a long wheelbase, this monster should be somewhat manageable in the deepest of desert sands or rocky crawls. The wheels are pushed out to each of the four corners with a 74-inch front track and "combined approach and departure angles of over 90 degrees." Even with the long wheelbase, having 16.1 inches of ground clearance means the Teryx H2 is still capable of a 34-degree breakover angle. With Fox internal bypass shocks and Kawasaki's proprietary electronically controlled suspension available, the driver can easily adjust the suspension on the fly to get over practically anything. All of this bonkers exciting off-road equipment doesn't come cheap, unfortunately, but you'd be hard pressed to go as far or as fast off road in anything that started as an SUV for even double the money. It also manages to undercut the Can Am and Polaris by a decent chunk, while being lighter and more powerful than either. Kawasaki packs the Teryx H2 with eye-watering performance stats, and priced it at just $37,199. Want more like this? Lewis Hamilton Reaches New Low After Hungarian GP
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton reached a new low at the Hungarian Grand Prix, getting lapped during a grand prix for the first time since 2022. The last time Hamilton was lapped during a race was in Imola. New regulations took over in 2022, and Mercedes was caught off guard in terms of development. The car went from the fastest to the midfield as the team couldn't adjust to the ground effect regulations. The 2022 season was painful for Mercedes, and one of the lowest points was the Imola race, when Max Verstappen lapped Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Scuderia Ferrari is interviewed during practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Hungary at Hungaroring on August 01, 2025 in Budapest, Hungary. Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Scuderia Ferrari is interviewed during practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Hungary at Hungaroring on August 01, 2025 in Budapest, Hungary. Photo byAt the race in Hungary this season, Hamilton was lapped for the first time since Imola, this time at the hands of McLaren driver Lando Norris, who ended up winning the race. This is shocking considering how dominant Hamilton has been for years - he was typically the one lapping other cars, but the tables have turned on the champion. The frustration over his struggles is beginning to boil over. During the race weekend, Hamilton was downbeat and lacked optimism regarding his issues. He even suggested that Ferrari should replace him and alluded to issues in the background hindering his performance. Team principal Fred Vasseur, however, still believes Hamilton is motivated and focused. "I don't need to motivate him, honestly," Vasseur said after the race. "He's frustrated but not demotivated; it's a completely different story. "Again, I can perfectly understand the situation, and you can, sometimes you are making comments on what the driver is saying to the car, but if you put the microphone on some other sportsman in football and so on, I'm not sure that it would be much better. "Sometimes they are making [rash] comments, even when they jump out of the car. "I can understand the frustration, but we are all frustrated, and sometimes, if you ask me, I can't say this, I will go to the stewards. "But sometimes just after the race, or just after the Quali, you are very disappointed and the reaction, the first reaction is harsh, but we all know that we are pushing in the same direction." Hamilton and Ferrari have the opportunity to reset during the summer break and get their bearings as the final run of the season will come quickly and fast. Nissan Wants to 'Enhance Performance' In Its EVs. So It's Turning to Formula E, for Some Reason
Nissan's future remains murky as the struggling Japanese automaker attempts to fix its financial outlook . That future could include new Nismo models designed with the help of Nissan's Formula E team. Tommaso Volpe, the head of Nissan's electric racing outfit, revealed the possibility to Autocar in a recent interview. He told the publication that the automaker is considering developing "prototypes" that can help Nismo "enhance the performance of electric cars." However, Nissan hasn't made any official decision. Volpe added that the upcoming Gen4 Formula E cars, for 2026-2027, could provide the potential for transferring technology from electric race cars to future road-going products. The Gen4 cars will feature all-wheel drive with two electric motors producing around 800 horsepower, as per regulations written in collaboration with participating manufacturers, including Nissan . That's more power than what the Ariya Nismo makes. The crossover is a twin-motor AWD electric vehicle, but it produces just 420 hp, and Nissan doesn't even sell it in America. More power and expertise from the racing side can't hurt future electric Nismos, if people want them . Developing prototypes for future road-going Nismo models based on 800-hp race cars could result in something great, but such ideas are often watered down for the masses before production begins. However, as exciting as Nismo is for consumers and the brand, Nissan has other things to focus on first.
