Shefali Jariwala's death came as a shock to many. She was just 42. The actor, famously known as the 'Kaanta Laga girl', was married to television actor Parag Tyagi, and they often shared cute pictures together on social media. However, before meeting Parag, Shefali was married to musician Harmeet Singh, who is one half of the celebrated musician duo Meet Brothers. That marriage, however, ended in five years and on a tragic note.
At the time of their divorce, Shefali accused Harmeet of domestic abuse. They tied the knot in 2004 and separated in 2009. In an interview with Times Now, Shefali expressed that emotional respect was absent in their marriage, putting her in mental distress and pushing her to end the relationship.
She said, 'It is very important to understand that you are not being appreciated. Not every kind of violence is physical. There is a lot of mental violence that also happens, and you are very unhappy in your life.'
In several other interviews, Shefali claimed that her financial independence and upbringing empowered her to walk away from a bad marriage. Shefali met Harmeet after gaining fame with the song 'Kaanta Laga'. She collaborated with the Meet Brothers on several projects, including the music video 'Pyaar Humein Kis Mode Pe Le Aaya.'

Parag and I are very similar and different in many ways. I think we kind of balance each other out.'
Parag and Shefali dated for a couple of years before the former expressed his desire to marry Shefali on the sets of Nach Baliye in 2012. Two years later, they were pronounced husband and wife in a court marriage.
Parag Tyagi is known for his roles in Pavitra Rishta and Jodha Akbar. He also participated in the celebrity dance reality show Nach Baliye with Shefali.
