Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan is leaving no stone unturned to prepare for the upcoming Test series against England. The 27-year-old from Mumbai, who made his Test debut last year, has taken his fitness seriously and reportedly lost 10 kg through a strict diet plan and rigorous training. He has faced a lot of criticism for being overweight over the past several years.
Sarfaraz Khan undergoes major transformation
According to a Times of India report, Sarfaraz's entire family has been on a weight-loss mission for the last couple of months. Sarfaraz's father Naushad Khan told TOI that he and his son had been training very hard in the gym at Mumbai Cricket Association's facility in BKC. He revealed that Sarfaraz has already lost nine kilograms and is working hard to lose more weight.
'Our whole family is focused on a 'weight-losing mission.' Sarfaraz has lost nine kilograms too in six weeks, which isn't easy, and he's raring to lose more weight. Both Sarfaraz and I have been slogging in the gym at the Mumbai Cricket Association's BKC facility for at least an hour for six days a week. I go for a walk, while he jogs at the club for almost an hour, and then there's a 30-minute swimming session. Even my younger son Moin (Khan) has lost a lot of weight,' Naushad Khan was quoted as saying to TOI.

Despite scoring a brilliant 150 against New Zealand in a home series, Sarfaraz was not picked in the playing XI during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He also failed to found any bidder at the IPL 2025 auctions last year. However, Sarfaraz has now been named in the India A squad that will travel to England next month for two unofficial Test matches against the England Lions.
He is also expected to be named in the Indian squad for the five-match Test series against England, starting 24 June. Sarfaraz's career has been on an upward trajectory ever since he made a comeback in domestic cricket and eventually earned a place in the Indian Test squad in 2024. Even though he is not being looked at as a white-ball player right now, Sarfaraz has the potential to do well across formats.

Indian men eye comeback against Netherlands in FIH Pro League

The Indian men's hockey team will look to bounce back from its narrow defeat in the opener when it takes on The Netherlands in the European leg of the FIH Pro League here on Monday. India squandered a one goal lead to lose 1-2 to Olympic champions Netherlands in the first match on Saturday. The Indian side showed promise in the early phases of the first half, with captain Harmanpreet Singh converting a penalty corner to give his side the lead. The Dutch side, however, made a strong comeback and ultimately emerged victorious courtesy of a brace from Thijs van Dam, which included the winning goal in the 58th minute. With seven games left to play in the competition, India currently stand fourth in the points table with 15 points. 'We did well in the first half but the third quarter wasn't as good. In the fourth quarter we did well again and were winning the ball, but we weren't getting any shots on goal. 'It was unfortunate to lose like that because I thought we could push for a draw. We want to push ourselves as hard as we can, especially against a team like the Netherlands,' India head coach Craig Fulton said after the match. With next year's World Cup spot up for grabs, India will aim to do well in the remaining matches and gain maximum points against challenging opponents. India played the home leg of the Pro League in Bhubaneswar earlier this year, when it amassed 15 points with five wins in eight games.
