That's just one reason to fall in love with Ciudad in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood. This live-fire cooking spot opened in 2016 was initially a collaboration between chef Matt Dillon and Marcus Lalario, a tireless entrepreneur who's got a robust lineup of restaurants and lifestyle/clothing brands under the Sugar Shack Unlimited flag. Dillon's no longer involved, but since he stepped away, there have been lots of interesting developments in the Ciudad space, including adding another eatery nearby – Northern Italian-inspired Mezzanotte opened in 2020 -- and bringing chef Taylor Thornhill on board to expertly run the Ciudad kitchen. But let's back it up to Lalario's early career immersed in music: 'I liked about my age to get my first job at Easy Street Records,' he said with a smile. He was just 16 and before turning 20, he'd bought The Beat Box and turned it into an all-ages club – it later became The War Room. He managed bands and launched a record label called Under the Needle. There were bars, boutiques and barbershops in those early days when Lalario often partnered with frequent collaborator Brian Rauschenbach. Inspired by burger joints he'd frequented while touring with bands, Lalario opened lovable Lil Woody's on Capitol Hill in 2011. It became an instant hit leading to multiple locations including a hot spot in Tokyo. Lil Woody's deserves a big round of applause for shining the spotlight on area chefs during its wildly popular Burger Month each February. A couple years ago, Lalario opened Darkalino's in Pioneer Square, a salute to Old School Italian-American cuisine with chef Sean Russo ably running the kitchen. (The house-made pasta is outstanding and those magical meatballs are likely to remind you of your Nonna.) The restaurant shares the gorgeous space with upscale sports-driven retailer Hometeam, which – get this – just launched a free concert series this summer. Talk about full circle with the whole music thing. Brava! Back to Ciudad, where the wide-ranging menu defies definition. The temptation is to order everything and that wouldn't be wrong. Among the many superstars: fried corn with charcoal aioli, seared haloumi served alongside roasted red peppers, pickled pears, almond, morita chili oil and – wow – those harissa-glazed carrots with herbed goat cheese, dates, garlic walnut crunch. And those are just the starters, setting the table for a spectacular lineup of grilled meats and veggies cooked over charcoal, but don't you dare miss those lamb ribs finished in harissa barbecue sauce, labneh, pickled red onions, fresh herbs. They slap. Finally, that soft, squishy, flavorful flatbread leaves a lasting impression, made for many years by the same dedicated line cook. Big round of applause for chef Kevin! And all that jazz Can't talk about music in Seattle without a conversation about Dimitriou's Jazz Alley, arguably the coolest supper club on the West Coast. Fans pack the place to see an eclectic mix of performances. Ravi Coltrane, Ottmar Liebert and Keiko Matsui are on the calendar soon. For years, Grammy award winner Taj Mahal has settled in for a long run during the week leading up to Thanksgiving. This year marks his 30th anniversary at Jazz Alley. Amazing. Guessing a big part of the pull back to this classy club run by John, Carla and Ari Dimitriou is chef Alvin Binuya's exceptional food. The menu is extensive and while there's plenty to make meat lovers happy – the Double R Ranch Prime New York Steak – is top of that must-try list. Still, seafood is king. Fresh, line-caught wild salmon and halibut preparations are brilliant. And, yes, that seafood gumbo will likely make you hum 'Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans.' Order that classic with a side of Southern-style collard greens and cornbread. One more very cool reason to book a table at Jazz Alley? There's free garage parking nearby, a real rarity in Downtown Seattle.

PSG Partners With Rematch To Drive Unique User-Generated U.S. Content
Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) U.S. academies are partnering with community-driven sports highlight platform Rematch to allow their communities to capture and share unique content from games across the country. The partnership will integrate Rematch into the PSG Academy ecosystem and allow for social media collaborations. As part of the agreement, 'Rematch will organize and share the best highlights from across the [PSG] academies for each individual use on a weekly basis. In turn, the PSG Academy brand will be embedded on all captured and shared content from academy competitions and training.' The agreement begins this fall and will include six of PSG academies: Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, and Phoenix. There was even strong interest from PSG's academy in British Columbia, but the Rematch app is not yet operational in Canada, so that agreement will not be finalized until 2026. Rematch U.S. CEO Hanna Howard says this partnership will 'unlock access to content that most academies and clubs don't have.' The highlights will be user-generated, from the sidelines, without the need for a videographer. What is Rematch? Rematch is a French company founded in 2019. It allows sports fans to effortlessly capture highlights and provides 'a dedicated social platform where highlights can be viewed and shared-so every player, every game, every highlight can be seen and celebrated.' Using a specialized AI-powered rewind software, fans using the Rematch app just need to hit record after the goal, basket, or try is scored, and the app will automatically capture the preceding fifteen to twenty seconds of action, giving the user a high-quality, ready-made highlight clip. The app was popularized in the French grassroots sports market before launching in the U.S. Since 2019, Rematch has partnered with the French Federations for basketball, soccer, handball, rugby, and others, and has had over 700 million highlights views. Rematch launched in January 2025 in the U.S. In its first six months, Rematch videos have had roughly 10.5 million views across social media platforms, and the app is expected to eclipse more than 10,000 users by the end of August. With more than 2,000 total games filmed and 22,000 highlights captured, the app is democratizing sports visibility, allowing the best moments across all youth sports to be watched. In the company's own words, 'Rematch is a movement to celebrate participation, connect communities, and open new opportunities for sponsors and organizations to engage a passionate sports audience.' PSG Partnership and the Future of Rematch Rematch launched in the U.S. with a focus on youth soccer before successfully expanding into basketball. The app is looking to add more sports, notably volleyball and American football, and even had a brief beta trial with Major League Rugby. The partnership with PSG's U.S. academies was the product of mutual connections. Rematch pitched its offering to the Parisian powerhouse back in April. As Howard recalls, 'they really took a liking to it.' It helped that there was also a French connection. For what Howard describes as 'a significant discount,' the six PSG academies will receive access to user-generated content that can enhance the club's brand visibility in the U.S. The app has no cost, which means parents and casual fans can easily download it. Recording is so simple that any fan with a smartphone can do it. From there, Rematch will review all the captured content, tailor highlight videos, and upload them to social media with club branding. Howard also says there will be opportunities for brand collaborations. Rematch will provide the academies (and any partner entity) with performance metrics of different posts, monthly reports on involvement, and will even spotlight parents who post the most high-performing content as a way of providing inter-academy gamification. Rematch remains hyper-focused on celebrating highlights regardless of sporting level or competition. The company is developing a premium version of the app, which will cost users $4.99 a month and will allow fans to capture videos in 4k or 1080p and will provide filters that remove camera shake, distracting audio, and customized video length — at the moment, soccer highlights default to 15 seconds. The low monthly fee is part of Rematch's efforts to remain appealing to the widest possible user base. As Howard says, 'We are really determined to maintain accessibility for parents.' The partnership with PSG is just the beginning. Rematch is open to the possibility of partnering with professional leagues and clubs, just as it did with MLR. In the age of content creation, this is a chance for all fans to actively celebrate their sports.

Orioles' Félix Bautista faces another long recovery after surgery to repair rotator cuff and labrum
BALTIMORE (AP) — Orioles closer Félix Bautista has had another major operation, this time to repair a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum. The team says Bautista had surgery Tuesday with Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles. The development comes just over a week after interim manager Tony Mansolino announced the 6-foot-8 right-hander would miss the rest of the season because of a 'significant' shoulder injury. Bautista is likely to miss most of next season too, part of a string of health issues that have limited him since he made the All-Star team in 2023. Bautista was one of the most imposing relievers in baseball that year, posting 33 saves and a 1.48 ERA. But he missed the last month of that season, plus the playoffs, because of a right UCL injury. After Tommy John surgery, he was out for all of 2024. Bautista was able to make it back this year, going 1-1 with a 2.60 ERA and 19 saves, but after 34 2/3 innings, he'll miss significant time again. The Orioles were off Wednesday. They begin a four-game home series Thursday night against Houston.
