Parks and Recreation star's mic-drop retort to ‘dumb people' who think his Ron Swanson character was a Trump supporter
Offerman, who played the gruff, manly, mustachioed Ron Swanson on the show, said that the character was held up by many for 'the wrong reasons' and misinterpreted the Libertarian who was 'cool with everyone.'
'Like, dumb people insist that Ron Swanson would've voted for Trump,' he said in a recent interview with Indie Wire.
'And I don't deign to answer myself. I take it to Mike Schur, the main creator of Ron, and he said, 'Swanson would've despised Trump, because Ron loved capitalism. And Trump made the stupidest move you could make as a capitalist, which is to go into public service.'
'He would think he's an absolute idiot. He would also despise him because he's disrespectful to women and many others. And that's just an example of all the people and value sets that Ron would despise, because Ron is a good person.'
Offerman has previously been outspoken about the misuse of his character online.
Last month he responded to a homophobic post by Michael Flynn Jr., the son of Donald Trump's former National Security Advisor.
On the first day of Pride Month, Flynn Jr. shared an edited clip from Parks and Recreation of Offerman's curmudgeonly Ron Swanson angrily chucking an old computer monitor into the garbage — with the monitor replaced with a rainbow Pride flag.
'Good morning and Happy Sunday! No quotes today. Just wanted to post how I feel about 'pride' month,' Flynn Jr. wrote.
'Ron was best man at a gay wedding you dumb f***. #HappyPride,' Offerman replied.

'When you do the threat and risk assessment, you cover anything that could go wrong: if they were at a mass gathering, what if the stage collapsed?' Nigel Thomas, a former British Special Air Service (SAS) soldier and founder of security training firm, Blue Mountain Group, told The Athletic. 'We will have a standard operating procedure for that, for example. You need to be prepared for it, and that takes communication with stadium security and emergency services.' The World Cup Final next summer will also be hosted at MetLife Stadium. The president has enjoyed a friendly relationship with Infantino, and FIFA actually opened up a new office in Manhattan's Trump Tower this week. Since he took office for a second time this year, Trump has visited several sporting events - including the Super Bowl in New Orleans. He's also attended the Daytona 500 in Florida, UFC fights in Miami and Newark, New Jersey, and the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia. While Trump has yet to attend a Club World Cup match ahead of the final, Vice President J.D. Vance was on hand when Borussia Dortmund took on Ulsan HD in Cincinnati. And the strict security measures were certainly felt in that case. 'We were checked by strict security,' Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac told assembled reporters. ' When we left the hotel, we were given a sniff test by a dog. When we got into the stadium, someone came onto the bus with another dog. That's completely normal. It's a World Cup. They are high-level people, so I think it's normal, but it was relatively tight.' Sunday's final will see reigning Champions League winners PSG face English giants Chelsea, who were last crowned winners of Europe in 2021. PSG have gotten past a gauntlet of opponents this summer to reach the championship match, beating the likes of Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid along the way. Their win over Los Blancos was particularly emphatic, as they beat the Spanish giants 4-0 on Wednesday in front of a packed MetLife crowd. El Encanto was their only hotel in the United States. He embarked on this project alongside his brother Tyler Mateen and Culver Capital, an investment banking and business consulting firm. He told Robb Report: 'We will be pouring love and resources into this iconic property to continue that legacy and ensure that it remains a top destination for visitors from around the world and down the block.' The property was originally purchased in the 1870s and became a hotel in 1918. It has been visited by many of Old Hollywood's dazzling elites like Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. Even 100 years later, the glamorous hotel continues to serve stars like Gwen Stefani, Barbra Streisand, and Leonardo DiCaprio. The hotel will remain open during renovations, which are set to take approximately three years. The first order of business is a complete makeover of the grounds with the help of LA architect Mark Rios. The plan is to turn the property into a 'mystical garden.' They also plan on replacing a few of the rooms with coffee shops and membership clubs but want to keep its original character and charm. Over the past few years, the brothers have been dedicated to purchasing high-profile real estate properties in Southern California. The area's real estate scene is notoriously difficult to break into, but Mateen seems to have had no problem building his empire. In June, the duo spent $69 million on a retail property near the famous TCL Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. They acquired the Hollywood Galaxy shopping center and the historic Peterson building, which sits next door and once housed a Cadillac dealership. In 2024, in partnership with Pouya Abdi, the brothers spent millions on a five-story office building called the Wilshire Rodeo Plaza in LA, which they hoped to fill with retailers and a rooftop restaurant. The same year, the brothers acquired HHLA entertainment center in Westchester near Playa Vista. They're refurbishing it to house the immersive entertainment company Meow Wolf, among other retail tenants. Mateen and his brother are strategically spending money on their hometown of Los Angeles. The commercial real estate market in the region is currently on a downswing, but the brothers are confident their investments will pay off when it bounces back in the next few years. El Encanto is just one of their many ventures that will help transform their beloved hometown. Under its new leadership, the hotel will operate as a boutique, untethered by any hospitality chain or company. Tyler Mateen said: 'We want to control what's on the menu and how the staff are working.' With hotel sales on the decline in California, coastal properties are looking to sell to affluent buyers who intend on hanging onto the hotel for years to come. That makes the Mateens' $120 million total investment worthwhile. Justin Mateen said the resort 'is something that we're going to hold in our families forever.'
