Nick Offerman Goes Full ‘Parks and Recreation' and Scolds Trump for Cutting $267 Million From National Parks Budget: ‘That's Called S—ting the Bed'
Nick Offerman channeled the spirit of his beloved 'Parks and Recreation' character Ron Swanson during a recent visit to 'The Daily Show,' where the actor scolded Donald Trump for cutting $267 million in funding for America's national parks. 'I have several undeniable loves in my life. The oaky notes of a barrel-aged whiskey, an old-fashioned plumb bob dangling over a red cedar plank, my blushing bride's hoo-ha, and of course, America's national parks,' Offerman said to cheers from the audience while explaining that budget cuts have gotten so bad at national parks that scientists are now helping to clean toilets. 'This is a huge mistake. No scientist has the strength to clean the skid marks of a man who's been eating beans and campfire hot dogs for the past three days! They're weak.' More from Variety Justice Department Fires Manhattan Prosecutor Who Worked on Diddy and Epstein Cases 'Smurfs' Review: The Blue McDwarfs Are Back in an Animated Musical Starring Rihanna Democrats to Intro 'Presidential Library Anti-Corruption' Bill After Paramount, Disney Lawsuit Settlements With Trump On a more serious note, Offerman called out Trump for his new strategy when it comes to national parks. The budget is being cut $267 million, but the plan is to increase admission in order to bring in $90 million to the Department of Interior's budget. 'Let me get this straight, Mr. President,' Offerman said. 'You cut $267 million to get back $90 million. Now, I'm no mathematician, but I believe that's called shitting the bed. But then again, I didn't go to Wharton Business College.' Offerman threw to a news report which explained how national parks brought in $55 billion to the U.S. economy in 2023, plus employed 415,000 people. The 'Parks and Recreation' favorite also explained how national parks are an easy vacation for families. 'That is the true miracle of our national parks,' Offerman said. 'It is an affordable vacation that everyone can take inside our own borders, whether you're traveling with your family or abandoning your constituents during a crisis.' 'Because let's face it, America without its national parks is like McDonald's without the hamburgers,' he concluded. 'You can still go there, I guess, but at that point it's kind of just a bathroom.' Offerman has been more vocal in recent week about his disdain for Trump. Speaking to IndieWire earlier this month, the actor said 'dumb people insist that Ron Swanson would've voted for Trump.' '[Ron] would think [Trump]is an absolute idiot,' Offerman explained. 'He would also despise him because he's disrespectful to women and many others. And that's just an example of all the people and value sets that Ron would despise, because Ron is a good person.' Watch Offerman's full appearance on 'The Daily Show' in the video below. Parks and Recreation star's mic-drop retort to ‘dumb people' who think his Ron Swanson character was a Trump supporter
Nick Offerman has given a comprehensive response to 'dumb people' who have long-since claimed that his fan favorite character on sitcom Parks and Recreation would have been a supporter of Donald Trump. Offerman, who played the gruff, manly, mustachioed Ron Swanson on the show, said that the character was held up by many for 'the wrong reasons' and misinterpreted the Libertarian who was 'cool with everyone.' 'Like, dumb people insist that Ron Swanson would've voted for Trump,' he said in a recent interview with Indie Wire. 'And I don't deign to answer myself. I take it to Mike Schur, the main creator of Ron, and he said, 'Swanson would've despised Trump, because Ron loved capitalism. And Trump made the stupidest move you could make as a capitalist, which is to go into public service.' 'He would think he's an absolute idiot. He would also despise him because he's disrespectful to women and many others. And that's just an example of all the people and value sets that Ron would despise, because Ron is a good person.' Offerman has previously been outspoken about the misuse of his character online. Last month he responded to a homophobic post by Michael Flynn Jr., the son of Donald Trump's former National Security Advisor. On the first day of Pride Month, Flynn Jr. shared an edited clip from Parks and Recreation of Offerman's curmudgeonly Ron Swanson angrily chucking an old computer monitor into the garbage — with the monitor replaced with a rainbow Pride flag. 'Good morning and Happy Sunday! No quotes today. Just wanted to post how I feel about 'pride' month,' Flynn Jr. wrote. 'Ron was best man at a gay wedding you dumb f***. #HappyPride,' Offerman replied.

'Parks and Recreation' star says 'dumb people' insist his character Ron Swanson voted for Trump
"Parks and Recreation" star Nick Offerman said that only "dumb people" think that his beloved character, Ron Swanson, would support President Donald Trump during an interview with IndieWire on Friday. Offerman told the outlet that he went directly to the show's creator, Mike Schur, and Schur told him that Swanson would have "despised Trump" and thought he was an "absolute idiot." "Dumb people insist that Ron Swanson would've voted for Trump. And I don't deign to answer myself. I take it to Mike Schur, the main creator of Ron, and he said, 'Swanson would've despised Trump, because Ron loved capitalism. And Trump made the stupidest move you could make as a capitalist, which is to go into public service,'" the actor said. Offerman added that Swanson wouldn't have voted for Trump because "he's disrespectful to women and many others," which would have struck a major nerve with his character because he's a "good person." "Parks and Recreation" ran from 2009 to 2015 on NBC. As noted by Variety, Offerman has always been protective of Swanson, defending his character's values after Michael Flynn Jr., son of retired Army lieutenant general and Trump's former national security advisor Michael Flynn, used a clip of Swanson to mock Pride Month. Flynn Jr. posted a clip of the beloved character throwing a rainbow flag into a dumpster, paired with a caption that read: "Just wanted to post how I feel about 'pride' month." The original clip featured Swanson throwing his work computer into the dumpster, and Offerman was livid that somebody would use his character to make an edgy joke during Pride Month. "Ron was best man at a gay wedding you dumb f---," he shot back on X. "Happy Pride." Offerman was referring to the season finale of "Parks and Recreation" where Swanson served as the best man to his gay hairdresser, Typhoon.

‘Sovereign': True Story About The Sovereign Citizen Movement
R | 1h 40m | Drama | 2025 Nick Offerman's career-defining character on TV's 'Parks & Recreation,' Ron Swanson, had a few functions on the show. One of them was the grounding counterpoint his Libertarian screeds had on Leslie Knope's (Amy Poehler) overly optimistic liberalism. It gave audiences the rare, positive portrayal of a small-government outlook.

This wildly popular pizza restaurant from Kendall is coming to South Miami
Kendall's favorite pizza spot is planning to pop up in South Miami. Known for its Detroit-style pies with a crispy, airy crust, Vice City Pizza is taking over the restaurant Bar Bella in South Miami for a summer residency. Starting Saturday, June 14, at Bar Bella, you'll be able to order the square-cut pizzas from Chef Carlos Estarita, which are made with Vice City's special two-day fermented dough. You can order a simple square of cheese or sausage, of course, but Vice City is best known for its special pizzas, including the Roni & Hot Honey (pepperoni and Mike's Hot Honey); the Brie and Fig (mozzarella, brie, gorgonzola, caramelized onion, pistachio and fig jam) and the Ron Swanson (bacon, pepperoni, fennel sausage, banana peppers and Mike's Hot Honey), named for everybody's favorite carnivore on the TV series 'Parks and Recreation.' The Bar Bella menu, which featured tapas and barbecue items, will not be available throughout the residency. But the restaurant's back bar Abi Maria, named for owner Jorgie Ramos' old spot in Downtown Dadeland that closed in 2023, is bringing back its bites menu. You'll find choices like cured meats and cheeses, chicken wings and small plates like calamari, truffle tots, Bolognese arancini and proscuitto croquetas. Ramos, who co-owns Vice City Pizza with Estarita and is also the owner of Cebada Rooftop in Coral Gables, opened Bar Bella in late 2024 in the former space of Taco Craft. Now located at 2615 SW 147th Ave., Vice City Pizza came to life as a pandemic pop up (the original Abi Maria was one of the first places the popular pizzas were served). Estarita quickly became known for making all sorts of nontraditional pies, like La Colombiana, with Colombian hot dog slices, homemade pineapple jam, garlic cilantro sauce, bacon and black forest ham or El Cubiche, with caja china pork, confit garlic and onions and mojo aioli. If South Miami is as booming as Ramos believes, Vice City should fit in nicely. 'All the elements of this neighborhood are ready to explode,' Ramos told the Miami Herald earlier this year. 'Going out two blocks from your home and having good food and drinks and not worrying about parking is great. . . . South Miami is what the Grove used to be. It's surrounded by great neighborhoods and people desperate to stay close to home.' The Vice City residency is scheduled to run through September. Vice City Pizza at Bar Bella Where: 5829 SW 73rd St., South Miami Starting: June 14 Hours: 5 p.m. midnight Wednesday-Thursday; 5 p.m.-1 a.m. Friday-Saturday; 5-10 p.m. Sunday; lunch hours on Saturday and Sunday starting in a few weeks More information: @barabimaria on Instagram
