Ferguson decisive again with Roma winner in Kaiserslautern
The hosts were caught napping after a dismal back-pass that the goalkeeper struggled to control, so Ferguson pounced and deposited it into an empty net to open the scoring.
It was four on his debut in mid-week, and Evan Ferguson has scored again today! 🐺🐺 He's quick to put pressure on the goalkeeper and gets rewarded with one of the simplest goals he'll ever score 👏 pic.twitter.com/xRW7GDruvb — Premier Sports (@PremSportsTV) July 26, 2025
It confirmed a remarkably good start to life in the Giallorossi jersey for the Irish striker, who bagged four goals on his debut.

Matias Soule's curling free kick was palmed out of the near top corner, while Niccolò Pisilli scuffed a finish straight at the goalkeeper set up by Devyne Rensch.
The first genuine Kaiserslautern opportunity wasn't until the hour mark with a header wide from Hanslik.
Ebrima Darboe came on as a substitute and within 40 seconds had smashed his shot onto the outside of the upright.

🗣️ 'A great honour' - Jonathan David unveiled by Juventus
New Juventus signing Jonathan David has expressed his delight at joining the Italian giants, describing his first week with the club as a 'great honour' and revealing early discussions with teammates and manager Igor Tudor have already left a strong impression. Speaking to club media, the Canadian international said: 'It's a great honour for me to be part of a team like Juventus, and this first week of work has gone very well.' David revealed that the decision to move to Turin was made easier after conversations with several current players. 'Before coming here I spoke with some of my current teammates and as a result, it was easy to choose Juventus,' he explained. The striker also reflected on his first encounter with manager Tudor, saying it laid a strong foundation for what he hopes will be a successful season. 'The first meeting with Coach Tudor was positive, we talked a lot about my position on the pitch and my expectations for this season.' Having made his name in Ligue 1 with Lille, David is aware of the challenges that await in Serie A. 'I've consistently scored a lot of goals in recent years. The Italian league is definitely different from the French one; it's more tactical, there's more focus on defence, but my goal will be to score a lot here too,' he said. Reflecting on his journey to professional football, David credited his father with sparking his interest in the game. 'I started playing football because my dad played it. I started for that reason, but year after year I set myself the goal of becoming a professional football player, and so it was.' He also spoke about his childhood heroes, saying: 'When I was a kid, I really admired Drogba and Eto'o, even though they were different. Now there are many other top-class strikers.' David's arrival marks a key part of Juventus' summer rebuild under Tudor, with the striker expected to play a central role in their campaign to return to the summit of Italian football. 📸 KEREM YUCEL - AFP or licensors

Soccer referees tech extended to announce all VAR decisions in Germany and widen use of bodycams
FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Fans and television audiences in Germany will get more information on video reviews and footage from body cameras worn by referees in the Bundesliga next season. Stadium announcements will explain all video review decisions and more footage from bodycams will be made available, the German league said Wednesday. Referees will broadcast all their video-reviewed decisions in top-tier Bundesliga stadiums from the Aug. 22 start of the season and games in the second tier from Oct. 17, the league said. Trials in some Bundesliga stadiums had started in January. Trials with body cameras can now be extended worldwide to domestic competition organizers who apply, the FIFA-backed soccer rules panel known as IFAB said Wednesday in a separate news release. Bodycam footage was previously restricted to FIFA events including the Club World Cup in the United States in recent weeks. Fans were shown eye-level footage in the heart of the action gathered by small cameras attached to the headsets referees wear to communicate with their assistant match officials. On video reviews, fans and broadcasters have long wanted more and faster information about why an in-play decision was made, upheld or overturned by the referee in the VAR system. When VAR was introduced ahead of the men's 2018 World Cup, fans in the stadium were not shown replays of incidents and referees did not have to explain the reasons for a decision, which was simply displayed on giant screens. The Bundesliga said its referees will address the stadium after they consult a field-side monitor or change a decision on advice from a video review assistant. ___ AP soccer:
