Thailand's Opal Suchata crowned Miss World 2025
Hyderabad: In a dazzling culmination of grace, beauty, and strength, Thailand's Opal Suchata was crowned Miss World 2025 in a star-studded ceremony in Hyderabad, Telangana.
The grand finale of the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant saw reigning queen Krystyna Pyszkova from the Czech Republic pass on her crown to the new titleholder.
Wearing a gown that symbolised both healing and strength, Opal walked across the stage in a delicate white fabric adorned with opal-like florals.
She described the gown as a tribute to the powerful journey of "Opal For HER," representing the gem's inherent qualities of beauty, resilience, and transformation.
"The shimmering white fabric and delicate opal-like florals reflect women who choose hope over fear," Opal shared on her Instagram handle, adding, "The soft flare mirrors the ripple effect of compassion--how one heart can awaken many. Swarovski crystals sparkle like the inner light that guides us through darkness."
This symbolic dress was not just an outfit--it was a celebration of every woman who dares to dream, even in the face of adversity. "Just like the opal, I shine in my own light," Opal shared on Instagram.
While Thailand rejoices in Opal's crowning, India's hopes were dashed as Nandini Gupta, the country's representative, failed to make it into the Top 8 finalists.
The announcement came through Miss World's official Instagram page.
Nandini had made it to the Top 40 after a standout performance in the earlier rounds, where she was among the 18 contestants who 'fast-tracked' to this prestigious category.
However, she could not make it to the final cut, and as the competition progressed.
The 72nd edition of Miss World has made history as India once again hosts the prestigious pageant, following the highly successful 71st edition in Mumbai, where Krystyna Pyszkova of the Czech Republic was crowned.

Muscat: Team Oman emerged victorious in a thrilling finale against Team India at the International Tennis Team Championship 2025, hosted at the Diplomatic Club's tennis courts. India's ultra-rich population to rise 50% by 2028, fastest globally: Report
New Delhi: India will witness the world's fastest growth in the number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs), with their population expected to surge by 50 per cent between 2023 and 2028, according to a report by McKinsey & Company and BoF. The state of fashion luxury report says that the Indian luxury market is expected to grow between 15 and 20 per cent in 2025, fuelled by demographic and structural shifts. According to the report, new luxury malls and department stores, such as the Jio World Plaza and Galeries Lafayette, are increasing luxury real estate in tier-one cities. It further adds that the newly increased taxes on imported goods over Rs 700,000 (USD 8,400) are expected to encourage domestic spending, although the domestic Goods and Services Tax on luxury goods remains high at 28 per cent. Compared to the Indian growth, the Japanese luxury market is expected to grow between 6 and 10 per cent in 2025, retaining its position as a core luxury market. The growth in Japanese markets will be driven by both solid domestic demand and tourism spending. Recently, NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam announced that India has overtaken Japan to become the world's fourth-largest economy. Citing data from the International Monetary Fund, the CEO of India's apex think tank stated that India's economy has reached the USD 4 trillion mark. As per the report, Japan is home to the second-largest number of UHNWIs in Asia, which is expected to grow by more than 12 per cent from 2023 to 2028. The growth rate of UHNWIs in India is more than that of Japan. According to the IMF's April edition of the World Economic Outlook report, India's nominal GDP for fiscal 2026 is expected to reach around USD 4.187 trillion. This is marginally more than Japan's likely GDP, which is estimated at USD 4.186 billion. The report added that over the past five years, the luxury industry experienced a period of exceptional value creation. Between 2019 and 2023, unprecedented demand for personal luxury goods -- fashion, handbags, watches and jewellery among them -- combined With a deep well of supply allowed the sector to achieve a 5 per cent compound annual growth rate. Luxury brands outperformed global markets and achieved new profitability records. But in the year 2025 so far, the luxury industry has faced a significant slowdown that has hit even top brands hard. For the first time since 2016 (excluding 2020), luxury value creation declined. Several of the industry's growth-driving engines have stalled. Macroeconomic headwinds --especially in the key China market, which grew more than 18 per cent annually from 2019 to 2023 -- are weighing heavily on the sector, the report highlighted.

IndiGo flight faces turbulence due to duststorm, lands safely in Delhi
New Delhi: An IndiGo flight from Raipur to Delhi experienced turbulence due to a duststorm, prompting the pilot to climb up again when the aircraft was about to touch down at Delhi airport. Flight 6E 6313 landed safely at Delhi airport after making many circles in the air. The video of the incident also went viral on social media. The pilot announced that the wind speed was upto 80 km/hrs, and he discontinued the approach and climbed back till the weather cleared. Meanwhile, the national capital on Sunday witnessed a spell of rain, accompanied by strong winds over the southern parts of Delhi. The rains are due to an east-southeastward-moving cloud cluster, according to the Meteorological Department. The spell of rain offered a much-needed respite from the heat, as the national capital recorded maximum temperatures of more than 39 C earlier in the morning. According to IMD, Safdarjung area recorded a maximum temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius, Ayanagar 39.5 degrees Celsius, Lodhi Road 39.4 degrees Celsius and Palam recording 39.1 degrees Celsius. The IMD has issued warnings of thunderstorms, lightning and squall for the next two days, on June 2-3, in the national capital. The IMD has issued warnings on the nowcast for atleast 8 districts, including South, South East, New Delhi, East, Central, Sahadara, North East. The Met Department has said that the winds could reach up to 80 kmph too. Meanwhile, South West, West and North West Districts have been issued an advisory to watch out for light rains, thunderstorms and lightning.
