Early 'Superman' Reviews Turn Heads, But the True Rotten Tomatoes Score Hasn't Been Revealed
As reported by Variety, a handful of critics have sounded off on social media about their feelings about the new Superman reboot. "Bold yet faithful," wrote Bryan Sudfiel. Meanwhile, critic Brandon Davis said that the romantic chemistry between David Corenswet's Superman and Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane "is off the charts" in the movie.
That said, as of this writing, most formal reviews of the movie haven't been published. (Men's Journal will publish our review a bit later this evening.) But even when the reviews start trickling in, that doesn't mean the Rotten Tomatoes score will exist right away. And even when the RT score for Superman does hit, it may not be accurate for a while.Historically, reviews of various Superman movies are all over the place. While 2013's Man of Steel holds a 57 percent score on RT from critics, it has a 75 percent score from general audiences. 2006's Superman Returns is basically the opposite; the critical score is 73 percent, and the audience score is 60. Only when we go further back in time to the 1978 classic, starring Christopher Reeve, does the audience perception and the critical perception of a Superman movie start to align.
In short, with this Superman movie, like several Superman movies before it, we should expect there to be some kind of general disagreement about its basic quality. There's a good chance the film will make a ton of money at the box office. Will everyone love it? That remains to be seen.Early 'Superman' Reviews Turn Heads, But the True Rotten Tomatoes Score Hasn't Been Revealed first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 8, 2025

‘Peacemaker' Season 2 Has Set A Rotten Tomatoes Score Record For DC
At this point, it is clearly unwise to underestimate James Gunn making a superhero movie or show, and if you want further evidence past this summer's hit Superman, you're about to find exhibit A. That would be season 2 of Peacemaker, which has netted a 98% certified fresh critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, with just a single negative review in. Season 1 was also highly scored, a 93%, but this is next-level and in fact, a record among DC properties. There is a list of DCEU properties to compare it to, along with the limited selection of DCU offerings so far, and guess what? Season 2 of Peacemaker tops them all. Here's the list, and I'll even throw in Matt Reeves stuff and The Dark Knight Trilogy, why not? Do I think that Peacemaker season 2 is really going to be the best DC project in the last four universes of the brand? Not particularly, but these numbers indicate it's going to be something you can't miss. James Gunn in particular keeps heavily, heavily reinforcing that it is going to be key to the entire future of the DCU to watch season 2 of Peacemaker, as it will not only explain how at least parts of Peacemaker season 1 and Suicide Squad are now DCU canon, it will lead into the entire new era in some ways. Specifically, he's promising the last batch of episodes are going to be epic, and the whole season will be filled with big-name guest appearances (yes, if I had to guess, Superman, Supergirl or both will show up). From the trailers, the explanation seems to be at least some sort of dimension-hopping shenanigans that will transplant the cast from one universe to another, or at least clone them and their experiences. It's a big tangle in terms of how far Gunn's reach extends back into the DCEU, as if Peacemaker is canon, is Harley Quinn, who was on his team? And then Leto's Joker. Etc. But it appears he will be drawing lines somewhere and Peacemaker will be the start of that. It debuts August 21 on HBO Max. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram

Is ‘The Recruit' returning for season 3? Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on August 20, 2025, 18:30 IST Last updated August 20, 2025, 10:43 IST The Recruit has fans hooked with its wild spy thrills and Noah Centineo's charm as Owen Hendricks, the rookie CIA lawyer dodging danger at every turn. After Season 2's explosive finale, everyone's dying to know: will there be a Season 3? Here's the full rundown on what's known so far, packed with the latest updates, fan buzz, and a peek at what could've been. A Quick Recap of The Recruit Season 2 Before diving into the big question, let's recap where things stand. The Recruit follows Owen, a young lawyer thrown into the CIA's deep end, juggling deadly missions and shady colleagues. Season 2, which hit Netflix on January 30, 2025, sent Owen to South Korea and Russia to save Nan Hee, the wife of NIS agent Jang Kyun (Teo Yoo). Packed with new characters like the mysterious Nichka (Maddie Hasson) and the scheming Violet (Aarti Mann), the season delivered betrayals, gunfire, and a nail-biting rescue. Those final moments left plenty of threads dangling, sparking hope for more. Has The Recruit Been Renewed for Season 3? Brace for the bad news: Netflix pulled the plug on The Recruit after two seasons. The cancellation dropped in March 2025, just a month after Season 2 premiered. Fans were gutted, and even the show's team seemed blindsided. Despite rave reviews—Season 2 scored an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes—the show didn't pull the massive viewership Netflix craves. Season 2 clocked 15.3 million views in its first three weeks, down from Season 1's 26.4 million, which likely tipped the scales against renewal. Showrunner Alexi Hawley had big plans before the axe fell, teasing a third season that could've taken Owen to places like Latin America or Africa. Noah Centineo hyped up a 'crazier' Season 3, saying Owen needed bigger stakes to match his growth. Sadly, those dreams are on hold, leaving fans wondering what might've been. Thank you for helping get Big Shield off to a big start
For as much as I enjoy the process of writing a novel, the process of selling a novel is terrifying. With Big Shield, it's been a little less terrifying than usual. So far, it's selling. It's selling well. It's selling well enough that it's Amazon's No. 1 new release in the football category. It's selling well enough that, sooner than later, the publishers who said, 'We love it but sports novels don't sell' may need to revisit their business models. (I've got another football story in the hopper.) Of course, now the terror comes from the question of whether people will like it. While it's impossible to please everyone, the book is objectively entertaining and enlightening and enjoyable. If you agree, or disagree, let me know; I read every email, so feel free to share your feedback with me directly. Good, bad, whatever. I want to know what you think. Also terrifying is the question of whether it will hold its initial momentum. If you read it and if you like it, spread the word. Tell your friends and family that they can get it for only 99 cents in ebook form. Either way, thank for your buying it, if you already have. If you haven't, what are we waiting for? Click here and get it for less than pretty much anything else you can purchase.
