"China provided all support to Pakistan." Deputy COAS reveals Pak-China tango during Op-Sindoor
Speaking at the 'New Age Military Technologies' organised by FICCI, the Deputy COAS said that the Chinese were giving live updates to Pakistan while the conflict was on.
'We had one border and two adversaries, actually three. Pakistan was in the front. China was providing all possible support. 81% of the military hardware with Pakistan is Chinese... China is able to test its weapons against other weapons, so it's like a live lab available to them. Turkey also played an important role in providing the type of support it did... When DGMO-level talks were on, Pakistan had the live updates of our important vectors, from China,' he said
The Deputy COAS emphasised the need for a robust air defence system to combat the China-Pak tango.
'Air Defence and how it panned out during the entire operation was important... This time, our population centres were not quite addressed, but next time, we need to be prepared for that. We need a robust air defence system, ' he said.
Lt Gen Rahul R Singh also lauded the Indian Armed Forces for carrying out precision strikes on terror infrastructure. He further emphasised the strategic messaging and integration of technology and human intelligence in target selection and planning.
'... There are a few lessons from Operation Sindoor. The strategic messaging by leadership was unambiguous... There is no scope of absorbing the pain the way we did a few years ago... The planning and selection of targets was based on a lot of data that was collected using technology and human intelligence. So a total of 21 targets were identified, out of which nine targets we thought would be prudent to engage... It was only the final day or the final hour that the decision was taken that these nine targets would be engaged,' he said.
He added, 'A considered decision was taken that it will be a tri-services approach to send the right message that we indeed are an integrated force... An important consideration was that we should always be at the top of the escalation ladder. When we reach a military objective, we should try and put a stop to it... War is easy to initiate, but it's very difficult to control. So I would say that was a very masterly stroke that was played to stop the war at an appropriate time.' (ANI)

Maharashtra minister Ashish Shelar dismissed the speeches of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray during their joint rally on Saturday as irrelevant, diversionary and vague. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, the Mumbai BJP chief also took a swipe at the Thackeray brothers for trying to hard sell their own agenda and narrative under the premise of opposing 'imposition' of Hindi language in the state. 'Thackeray brothers boasted and bragged about their coming together for the Marathi pride, but the real purpose was to sell their own narrative and further their own political agenda,' Ashish Shelar said. He added that the speeches of the two leaders at the joint rally were more of political posturing than substance. "The things that Raj Thackeray mentioned in his speech were incomplete and irrelevant. He was trying to set his own narrative of browbeating the immigrants from other states and also justifying it while Uddhav was seen complaining and crying about being ousted from power," Shelar stated. Taking exception to Raj Thackeray's statement that non-Marathi-speaking people should be beaten up but a video of it should not be made, the BJP called it absolutely absurd and reprehensible. "Such statements are very painful. I am very hurt by such utterances," he said. Ashish Shelar further lent support to the Centre's three-language policy and said that such politicking must be avoided on issues of national importance. 'They ask that in which states the three-language formula was implemented. I want to tell them that 20 states have adopted the three-language formula. Raj Thackeray opposes it for the children of Mumbai, but he never opposed it for his own children. This is injustice," he remarked. He said that the three-language policy facilitates children to study in their mother tongue, but these leaders want to deprive them of this opportunity. On the reunion of the Thackeray brothers, he said that it was good to see two brothers coming together, and their families would also be happy with this development; however, it's for them to decide whether they will contest elections together or separately.

Janata Dal (United) senior leader K.C. Tyagi on Sunday hit out at Congress, questioning its alliance with the Shiv Sena and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), while accusing the Maharashtra-based party of targeting Hindi-speaking people. His remarks came in response to the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi's, recent statement calling Bihar the 'crime capital' of India and atrocities being committed against Hindi-speaking people in Maharashtra. 'Congress must make it clear, are they with the people of Bihar or with Shiv Sena? Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena are committing atrocities against Hindi-speaking people in Maharashtra. The Congress cannot have it both ways,' Tyagi told IANS. On LoP Rahul Gandhi's 'crime capital' remark, Tyagi reminded the Congress leader of Bihar's turbulent past under Lalu Yadav's rule. 'Rahul Gandhi was very young in 1990-91 when migration from Bihar was at its peak. Businessmen, labourers - all were fleeing the state. It was a time of lawlessness. Today, the situation is very different,' he said. Responding to the RJD's demand for Nitish Kumar's resignation over the Gopal Khemka murder case, Tyagi defended the Bihar Chief Minister as 'a popular leader elected by the people's mandate.' He added, 'Elections are around the corner, and there is a real challenge before Tejaswi Yadav. That's why these issues are being raised now.' Notably, Khemka's murder has created political controversy in the poll-bound state of Bihar, with opposition attacking Nitish Kumar for being a 'puppet' Chief Minister. The Congress on Saturday also demanded a special session of the State Assembly to discuss the breakdown of law and order. With Bihar heading into a high-stakes electoral season, Tyagi's comments are a sharp attempt to consolidate pro-Nitish sentiment while drawing attention to Congress's conflicting political alignments across states.

France is allegedly fighting a 'disinformation' campaign against its Rafale jets, with its military and intelligence officials revealing that China used its embassies to undermine the sales and harm the reputation of the French flagship fighter. Sales of the Rafale jets and other heavy weaponry bring big business for France's defence industry, helping efforts by the government to strengthen ties with India and other nations in Asia, where China is trying to establish itself as the dominant power. French officials reportedly have said other countries began to raise questions over Rafale's performance after Pakistan claimed to have downed five Indian planes, including three Rafales, during the fighting in May. Pakistan's claim about Rafale has not been confirmed by India. Air Marshal AK Bharti, during a press briefing on Operation Sindoor, had responded to reports of Rafale jets being downed, stating that "losses are a part of any combat scenario" without confirming or denying the claims. Speaking to Challenges, a French magazine, he refuted Islamabad's claims that three Rafale jets were shot down during the four-day conflict between India and Pakistan in May. 'Rafale not targeted randomly': French ministry French officials have said they are pushing back against the alleged concerted campaign of Rafale-bashing and disinformation online at the hands of Pakistan and China. France said the campaign reportedly included manipulated visuals of supposed Rafale debris, AI-generated content, and more than 1,000 newly created social media accounts to spread a narrative of Chinese technology being superior. The French intelligence service said that Chinese embassy defense attaches echoed similar narratives in meetings they held with other countries' counterparts and security officials. Chinese officials reportedly focused their lobbying on countries that have ordered Rafales and nations that are potential customers of the French fighter planes, the intelligence finding said. The French defence ministry said Rafale was being targeted by "a vast campaign of disinformation" that "sought to promote the superiority of alternative equipment, notably of Chinese design." "The Rafale was not randomly targeted. It is a highly capable fighter jet, exported abroad and deployed in a high-visibility theater," the ministry said on its website. 'The Rafale was also targeted because it represents a strategic French offering. By attacking the aircraft, certain actors sought to undermine the credibility of France and its defense industrial and technological base. The disinformation campaign therefore did not merely target an aircraft, but more broadly a national image of strategic autonomy, industrial reliability, and solid partnerships," it added. Meanwhile, China's ministry of national defense told AP that France's claims "are pure groundless rumours and slander". "China has consistently maintained a prudent and responsible approach to military exports, playing a constructive role in regional and global peace and stability," it added. Rafale maker Dassault Aviation has sold 533 jets, including 323 for export to Egypt, India, Qatar, Greece, Croatia, the United Arab Emirates, Serbia, and Indonesia. So far, Indonesia has ordered 42 planes and is considering purchasing more Rafales.
