Comedian Samay Raina appears before NCW, issues written apology over objectionable remarks
The NCW had taken suo-moto cognisance of the matter and summoned Raina for his comments that were deemed offensive and derogatory to women.
The Commission, headed by Chairperson Ms. Vijaya Rahatkar, expressed strong disapproval of the content and reminded Raina of the responsibility that comes with public influence.
During the hearing, Samay Raina submitted a written apology to the Commission, expressing regret for his remarks. He assured the NCW that he had no intention to hurt sentiments and would ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar emphasised the importance of maintaining respect and sensitivity towards women, especially on public and digital platforms. She also directed Raina to refrain from making any such comments going forward and advised him to use his platform to promote awareness around women's dignity and rights.
Accepting the Commission's directive, Raina gave a verbal and written commitment to create responsible and respectful content in the future.
He pledged to work on content that promotes awareness of women's issues and upholds their dignity.
The NCW, in its official statement, reiterated that public figures and influencers carry a significant responsibility in shaping societal attitudes. It added that the Commission continues to monitor content across entertainment and digital media to ensure that women are portrayed respectfully and without prejudice.
This incident is part of the Commission's broader initiative to hold media and entertainment platforms accountable for their role in reinforcing gender sensitivity and promoting the values of equality and respect for women.

Over 29 lakh apply for SSC's 2,423 posts
Prayagraj: As many as 29,40,175 candidates from across the country have applied for the recruitment of 2,423 posts under Phase-13 selection post 2025 of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). A total of 10,22,154 candidates filled the form for posts requiring graduation and higher qualification levels, while 7,08,401 applied for 12th-level posts, and 12,09,620 applied for 10th-level posts. The commission is going to conduct the examination from July 24 to 31 and on August 1. SSC sought applications from candidates aged between 18 to 42 years from June 2 to 23 and provided an opportunity from June 28 to 30 for correction of errors in the application. Under this, recruitment is done for non-gazetted posts of Group B and non-technical posts of Group C in the ministries and departments of the central govt. Out of the 2,423 advertised posts, 1,169 are unreserved, while 314 posts are reserved for SC, 148 for ST, 561 for OBC and 231 for EWS candidates. However, the number of posts may increase or decrease until recruitment process is completed. State Information Commission directs Rakhial police to provide CCTV footage in gambling case, with conditions
The State Information Commission has directed the Rakhial police station in Ahmedabad to provide CCTV footage related to a gambling case arrest, while ensuring the details of others in the footage are obscured. This order was passed by State Information Commissioner Manoj Patel in response to an appeal by Mohammed Sufiyan Rajput, a Rakhial resident. According to the details, police conducted a raid in February 2024 in which the applicant along with others were arrested for alleged violation of the Gambling Act and was taken to the police station. Rajput had sought CCTV footage of the police station of the relevant episode when he and other accused were taken to the police station. Rajput's application was rejected by the concerned Public Information Officer (PIO) under the provisions of Section 8 (1)(j) of the Right to Information Act and also since he was one of the accused in the case. Section 8 of the RTI Act is related to exemption from disclosure of certain information. And Section 8(1)(j) states, 'information which relates to personal information the disclosure of which has no relationship to any public activity or interest, or which would cause unwarranted invasion of the privacy of the individual unless the Central Public Information Officer or the State Public Information Officer or the appellate authority, as the case may be, is satisfied that the larger public interest justifies the disclosure of such information…' The applicant had first challenged the PIO order before the Appellate Authority under the Act. However, the appeal was not allowed by the appellate authority, following which he moved a second appeal before the State Information Commission. Deciding upon the appeal, the State Information Commissioner Manoj Patel in his order, dated July 8, noted: 'At this juncture, in the interest of justice, the Commission finds it appropriate to provide the applicant's footages free of cost by separating it and hiding others' details. The Public Information Officer has agreed to this.' Eventually, the Commission ordered the PIO to provide the applicant the CCTV footage to the extent of his presence while 'hiding' the details of others in it through an RPAD (Registered Post Acknowledgement Due). An official of Rakhial police station said that following the Commission's order, they have provided the relevant CCTV footages to the applicant where he can be seen but the details of others have been blurred.
