Ed Sheeran's New Single Rockets To No. 1
'A Little More' Hits No. 1
On Thursday (August 7), just ahead of the beginning of a new tracking week, Sheeran unveiled 'A Little More,' the fourth official single from Play. The track quickly became a bestseller on both sides of the Atlantic, rising to No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in the U.K. and reaching No. 3 in the U.S.
'A Little More' Trails Only Deftones in America
In America, 'A Little More' earns the second-highest debut of the new tracking period. Sheeran comes in behind only 'Milk of the Madonna' by Deftones, which starts at No. 1. Several other just-shared cuts, including those from Rob Thomas and Josiah Queen, among others, which also soar straight into the highest tier on the sales tally.
Ed Sheeran's Other Play Singles
In the U.K., where Sheeran remains one of the most successful acts of all time, the release of 'A Little More' has also pushed sales of his earlier Play singles north. Recent tracks 'Sapphire,' 'Azizam,' and 'Old Phone' are all rising on iTunes from where they sat just hours before the new tune dropped.
Of those three, 'Azizam' continues to stand out as the biggest, as it peaked at No. 3 on the Official Singles chart. 'Sapphire' reached as high as No. 5, while 'Old Phone' became a rare underperformer for Sheeran, topping out at No. 17 and missing the top 10 entirely.
'Drive' Joined Ed Sheeran's 2025 Output
Even while focusing on promoting Play, Sheeran also found time to share music not included on the album's tracklist. 'Drive,' recorded for the Brad Pitt film F1 and its soundtrack, arrived earlier this year.
'Drive' failed to make a major impact commercially in the U.K., where it drove to No. 49 and missed the top 40. It also didn't reach the Hot 100 in the U.S., where 'Azizam' is still the only Play single to crack the top 40 so far.

‘South Park' Lets Loose With A Trump, Satan & JD Vance Ménage À Trois, ICE Raiding Heaven & Kristi Noem Shooting Dogs
SPOILER ALERT: This article contains details of tonight's episode 'Got a Nut' — like, a lot of details. With a nod — a head butt, really — to Donald Trump and masked ICE abductions of undocumented immigrants and U.S. citizens, South Park was very relevant tonight. More from Deadline 'Well, I Finally Made It': JD Vance Responds To His Blistering 'South Park' Debut 'South Park' Trolls Donald Trump's DHS Ahead Of ICE Barbie Episode: 'Wait, So We ARE Relevant?' Ramsey Naito To Remain Paramount Animation Head; Skydance Animation Stays Solo Post-Merger Under John Lasseter & Holly Edwards - The Dish Just ask Vice President JD Vance and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. 'A few years ago I had to put my puppy down by shooting it in the face, because sometimes doing what's important means doing what's hard,' the animated Noem says in the second episode of the 27th season of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's animated satire. (Throughout the episode Noem, who confessed to putting her own dog down, shoots multiple puppies on the streets, in heaven and while having a bath.) RELATED: But back to the video. The bulletproof vest-wearing Noem is addressing ICE agent recruits by video, including laid off South Park teacher Mr. Mackey. The perpetually camera-ready former Governor of South Dakota ends her video to the newbies by promising that 'together we will make sure everyone is in this country legally.' Then ICE goes after Dora the Explorer. Then, raising the stakes, and with Noem declaring 'remember, only detain the Brown ones, if it's Brown it goes down,' they raid Heaven too. Seriously. There is also Cartman as right-wing provocateur Charlie Kirk doing his podcast on the toilet while getting busy. Oh yeah, VP Vance made his South Park debut Wednesday. He's stylized as a sycophantic Tattoo from the original run of Fantasy Island to Trump's white-suited Mr. Roarke. It was both the best and worst Hervé Villechaize impersonation you'll ever get in up-to-the-minute primetime. In that, there was more on POTUS' love affair with an increasingly red-faced Satan — with the chubby cheeked Veep offering a small tribute to Sean 'Diddy' Combs via a promise of a massage of sorts to the fallen angel. 'Would you like me to apply the baby oil to Satan's assh*le, boss?' inquires Vance about a potential MAGA ménage à trois. After that, the best efforts of big screen Superman's best four-legged friend Krypto to save newly appointed DHS boss Mackey from getting pulled in bed with Trump and Satan at Mar-A-Lago ends badly. Eager to keep her job and her cred, ICE Barbie Noem shoots another dog dead — and promptly loses her allegedly surgically enhanced face. So, let's just say, two weeks after the delayed (and ratings surging) Season 27 premiere offered the most mocking and effective kick to Trump's 'tiny teeny' since the increasingly authoritarian former Celebrity Apprentice host returned to the White House, tonight's 'Got a Nut' episode on the now David Ellison-owned Comedy Central again went for the the groin as well as the jugular. After the delayed July 23 episode 'Sermon on the Mount' depicted a less than well-endowed Trump in bed with a less than satisfied Lord of Hell and a naked, live-action president in the desert in a pseudo-PSA (one of many stabs at Paramount and its recent $16 million knee bend to POTUS) Trump was reportedly 'seething' and the Executive Branch went ballistic. This show hasn't been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention,' the White House Taylor Rogers exclaimed. 'President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country's history – and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump's hot streak.' This week, after ICE tried to be witty and lift an advance image from tonight's episode for its X feed, South Park hit back: 'Wait, so we ARE relevant?' On Tuesday they also added a certain hashtag as a kicker. Tonight's episode confirmed it more than ever: Yes, indeed you are! John Leguizamo Slams 'Loser' Dean Cain For Joining ICE: 'Your Pronouns Are Has/Been'
John Leguizamo is not mincing words in addressing Dean Cain's recent decision to join ICE. The Bob Trevino Likes It star, who has been a vocal critic of ICE's increasingly militant behavior toward immigrants, took to his Instagram Friday to share his thoughts. More from Deadline Ex-Superman Dean Cain Says He's Joining ICE "ASAP": "I Truly Believe This Is The Right Thing" 'South Park' Lets Loose With A Trump, Satan & JD Vance Ménage À Trois, ICE Raiding Heaven & Kristi Noem Shooting Dogs 'South Park' Trolls Donald Trump's DHS Ahead Of ICE Barbie Episode: "Wait, So We ARE Relevant?" 'What kind of loser volunteers to be an ICE officer?' Leguizamo said in a brief video. 'What a moron. Dean Cain, your pronouns are has/been.' Today, Leguizamo doubled down, posting an image of a doctored DVD case featuring Cain's likeness and name with the title 'AGED ICE' on his Instagram Story. The caption of the original post read: 'More like 'Dean needs a cane' amiright?' Cain, who is best known for his portrayal of Superman in ABC's four-season Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, announced he would be sworn in as an ICE officer after endorsing the organization in a recruitment video posted to social media. 'I'm actually … a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer,' he said during a Wednesday interview on Fox News' Jesse Watters Primetime. 'I wasn't part of ICE, but once I put that [the recruitment video] out there and you put a little blurb on your show, it went crazy. So now I've spoken with some officials over at ICE and I will be sworn in as an ICE agent ASAP.' The pro-Donald Trump Cain has also recently been in headlines due to his disavowal of James Gunn's Superman, calling it a 'mistake' for being too 'woke.' This, despite Gunn's sticking to Kal-El's comic book origin story and the character's allegory for the immigrant experience. Last Pundit Standing winner crowned at Wembley
Nahyan Chowdhury fell to his knees in tears as Alex Scott called out his name at Wembley. The 25-year-old from Liverpool had just been announced as the winner of the Last Pundit Standing - the BBC's bold new talent search to find their next football expert. Chowdhury - who works full-time as a chemist - was one of 12 content creators selected for the show from more than 400 applicants. Over seven episodes, the contestants were challenged by some of the biggest names in the game through a series of tasks staged at iconic football locations. With points up for grabs in each challenge, the top four progressed to the semi-final before the finalists battled it out to be crowned the winner at Wembley on the day of the 2025 FA Cup final. Chowdhury went head-to-head with Toby Addison and the pair were challenged to create a bespoke 60-second social media video centred around the FA Cup final. The finalists had won two challenges each heading into the final and were closely-tied until the end. "The chosen creator has shown great resilience being able to deliver under pressure and has an exciting future in this role," Scott said as she announced the winner. Chowdhury was overcome with emotion as he was hugged and congratulated by Addison. From the first challenge at Goodison Park in episode one - where Chowdhury was the only contestant to hit the woodwork in the crossbar challenge - hearing the news at Wembley was a full circle moment for him. "Fair play," Addison said. "He comes in week one at Goodison and hits the crossbar. It was destined." With a contract at BBC Sport secured, Chowdhury's first day in his new role will be 12 August. "I'm excited, get me in and get straight going," he said. "I wanted to get in there straight away and make an impact and prove I am a worthy winner. "I had no idea I'd be in this position. If you asked me a year ago and you said you would be making content and be on a TV show, I'd have said 'no chance'. I never thought about it because you just don't see people like me doing that kind of thing. I am so lucky I have been thrown into this position. "I've done it, I've proved to myself that I can do it and I'm going to prove to everyone else that I am a worthy winner. It's not the end, it's just the beginning. "I am the last pundit standing."
