Mum, 21, found dead after inhaling laughing gas with a chest infection
A young mum died in her flat after taking laughing gas while she had a chest infection.
Kira Booth, 21, was found by her support worker last November, an inquest held at Preston Coroner's Court heard.
A number of nitrous oxide containers were also found in her flat.
This included one on the floor near her bed, one down the back of a sofa, and 18 packaged up ready to be thrown out.
Some empty and used tablet strips, as well as two snap bags possibly containing cocaine, were also found.
Detective Inspector Steven Slater said there was no evidence of third-party involvement in her death or of her being injured.
A post-mortem examination revealed there was no trauma related to her death, and a toxicology report showed there was recent cocaine use, but no other compounds were detected.
Coroner Kate Bissett said there was no evidence Kira wanted to take her own life because she had a 'strong will to live' and had 'worked through her difficulties'.
She said: 'Kira wasn't someone who had given up on normal life and was engaging in all sorts of drugs.
'She was someone who managed her problems by having a positive time experimenting with substances. She was not a habitual user.'
She added that nitrous oxide cannot be detected by toxicology examinations as it leaves the body when somebody dies.
The coroner read out evidence from Kira's mum, Carla Booth, who said her daughter had struggled with her mental health.
Kira had borderline personality disorder, had been sectioned under the Mental Health Act a number of times in her life, and had left home of her own accord at a young age.
She was moved to a flat in Burnley, Lancashire, from a mother and baby unit, and her baby was taken into care in July last year. She was allowed to see her child three times a week. More Trending
Carla said her daughter, who had told social workers previously about mental health struggles with hearing voices, had not been active on social media for 24 hours before her death.
They had not been aware she was taking drugs until the end of her life.
She was described by her family as a 'very kind and generous' person who enjoyed sports like swimming, gymnastics, football, and dancing.
A conclusion of misadventure was recorded, and Ms Bissett said: 'Kira Booth died on November 12, 2024, at her home address, having consumed nitrous oxide whilst suffering with a chest infection.'

Mushroom 'killer' Erin Patterson accused of 'making it up as she goes along'
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Australia's 'mushroom murderer' was grilled by prosecutors in court today as the lone survivor of the lunch testified. Erin Patterson is charged with three counts of murder after her former in-laws, Don and Gail Patterson, and Gail's sister Heather Wilkinson died in a hospital in July 2023. Today, she was accused by Prosecutor Nanette Rogers of 'making it up', when speaking about a conversation with her estranged husband, Simon. Simon and Erin reportedly spoke about picking up their children from school outside of Leongatha Hospital, when Erin 'paused' after Simon asked if she was feeling well enough to pick up the two children. Rogers alleged that Erin paused because she thought the ability to pick up her children would 'undermine' the illness she says she suffered after eating the deadly beef wellington. Erin said she didn't remember if she paused or not. Rogers grilled her: 'Are you making this up as you go along, Ms Patterson?' She replied, 'No.' Rogers went on to allege that Erin used the 90-minute period she wasn't at the hospital to 'cover her tracks' after realising doctors knew death cap mushrooms were involved in the poisoning. Erin said: 'I'm sure I did some thinking during that time, but it wasn't about covering my tracks.' After preparing the meal, she has also been accused of dumping the dehydrator used to prepare the mushrooms in a forest. The victim's symptoms were described as being consistent with poisoning by death cap mushrooms. Death caps are a dull green fungus known scientifically as Amanita phalloides and can cause serious organ failure within 24 to 48 hours. Erin's ex-husband, Simon, was questioned in court about her behaviour as his parents were dying. Simon previously denied that Erin had asked about the health of his parents during a phone call, which he said he thought 'that would be something that she'd be interested in asking about.' He said he thought at the time that it was 'odd.' Erin has also been accused of attempting to murder Heather's husband Ian, who was the only one to have survived the meal. Ian is suspected of eating poisonous mushrooms after eating a beef wellington meal cooked by Patterson at her home in Leongatha, Victoria. Speaking for the first time, Ian said he and his wife were 'very happy to be invited' to the beef wellington lunch, and that Erin 'plated all the food'. More Trending Ian said the four guests ate from grey plates, but Erin ate from a different coloured plate. 'Erin picked up the odd plate and carried it to the table. She took it to her place at the table,' he said. Erin later said she believes Ian gave 'incorrect evidence' about the plates used. The trial continues. Hollyoaks confirms who killed Dennis Savage - and it wasn't Clare or Banks
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday's (June 10) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm. An unexpected twist in the tale of who killed Dennis Savage (Joe Tracini) has confirmed that the murderer is none other than – drum roll please – Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield). Dennis, who was a fan-favourite, featured on-screen between 2011 and 2014, with a brief comeback 2018. However, according to Dodger Savage (Danny Mac), who staged a comeback earlier this year after a decade, Dennis was killed after he was injured in a hit-and run, with Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) driving the car in question. Though he is believed to have survived the incident, Dennis subsequently went missing, with Dodger believing that DI Banks (Drew Cain) and wife Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix) were to blame for his murder. The criminal power couple, as fans know, adopted Tori (Harriet O'Shea), who was previously in the care of Dennis. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Feeling some semblance of guilt for her role in the trafficking operation, Grace Black (Tamara Wall) opted to give Tori back to the Blakes. Tori's arrival at the flat put Jez on edge, particularly because of the USB file containing recordings of his therapy sessions with Tommy Odenkirk (Brandon Fellows). It subsequently came to light that the reason for his caginess was due to the fact that he killed Dennis – which was confirmed via a close-up of the book he keeps track of his victims in, with a picture of Dennis included. Liberty (Jessamy Stoddart), meanwhile, was suspicious of Jez's behaviour and thus started to investigate, getting dangerously close to the truth. Jez, however, covered his tracks by claiming that – on the therapy recordings – he confessed his true love for Lib. More Trending Taken aback, Lib was in shock, but passion soon followed, with her and Jez sleeping together. The Blake family dynasty continues to get even more complicated!
