Paige Spiranac Has Hilarious Request of New PGA Tour CEO

Paige Spiranac is up there with Tiger Woods as one of the biggest names in golf, regardless of whether she plays professionally.
She has more followers than Tiger and is known as golf's top social media influencer.
With the PGA Tour making a replacement at the top, as Jay Monahan seems to be out, the news is that Brian Rolapp is the new man in charge.
The fans were quick to give their first demand, and of course, it included Spiranac.
"If the new PGA CEO doesn't immediately hire Paige Spiranac as an on-course reporter, then all is lost," X, formerly Twitter, user McGolfin TV wrote.
Spiranac responded to that tweet.
"I mean the people have spoken," she wrote.

The former professional golfer isn't new to the role. During the PLAYERS Championship week, she was the on-course reporter for the Creators Classic at TPC Sawgrass.
Spiranac did a fantastic job providing insight while keeping people entertained with her quick remarks.
Her skills shone through as she handled the role with ease.

The 32-year-old has already begun her next career phase as she recently signed on with the Grass League, a new par-3 golf tour. It blends pros, influencers and fans to compete. Spiranac will give interviews, work with the marketing side, and help with the new tour's brand, per a story from Forbes.
If anyone can do it, Spiranac can because she grew her brand through hard work and dedication to learning how social media works.
However, the new CEO could shake up the golf landscape if he hired Spiranac as a reporter. Granted, NBC Sports, Golf Channel, or CBS Sports would likely need to hire her.
Unless Rolapp wants to grow the PGA Tour LIVE area and use Spiranac with that team, it would have to be one of the broadcasting companies. Annika Sorenstam already gave her the nod of approval, so why not get her on the broadcast?
She also went to bat for Rory McIlroy after his drama at the U.S. Open. Her ability to talk about what's going on in golf will be a significant asset to the television side of the PGA Tour.
The idea is a good one, though, because she would attract a younger crowd and bring a fresh face to the sport with her influence.

Ahead of 2025 Tour Championship, the Scottie Scheffler-Tiger Woods comparisons continue
ATLANTA — If the late ESPN SportsCenter anchor Stuart Scott was still alive, he'd use one of his trademark lines to describe Scottie Scheffler's play of late: Just call him butter 'cause he's on a roll. Scheffler won for the fifth time in 2025 last Sunday at the BMW Championship, erasing a four-stroke deficit quickly and chipping in at 17 to seal the deal in impressive fashion. This week, he has caddie Ted Scott back on the bag and aims to become the first back-to-back winner of the FedEx Cup. He'll have to do so at East Lake Golf Club at the 2025 Tour Championship without a two-stroke lead on his nearest competitor this year after the Tour scrapped the Starting Strokes handicapping system that has been in place since 2019. Instead, all 30 players in the field will start the tournament on Thursday at even par. 'I guess no more sandbagging for me at the end of the year,' Scheffler cracked before turning more serious. He isn't pouting over receiving no advantage despite lapping the field in the season-long points race. His lead of 3,769 over second place is more than the number of points that Rory McIlroy has earned this season (3,687). 'I was not a huge fan of the starting strokes format,' Scheffler said. 'I was a fan of the points format, but I understand why people wanted to move away from that with FedEx being a huge sponsor and having to give out two trophies at the end of the week and explaining the season long race. This to me is a much simpler format to end the year. We all start even par, and it's time to go chase what you want.' With a win, Scheffler would join Tiger Woods (2007, 2009) and Rory McIlroy (2016, 2019, 2022) as the only players to win multiple FedEx Cup titles. He's been on a dominant run with 14 Tour wins in his last 33 starts. Since the Players Championship ended in March, Scheffler has played 13 events, including all four major championships. Across those events, he has 'lost' to players over the course of four days just 34 times (or three times per event). It's Tiger-like stuff. Following his win at last week's BMW Championship, Scheffler became the first player since Woods (2005-07) to record five or more wins in back-to-back seasons. In May, Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee went so far as to compare Scheffler's tee-to-green game to Tiger in his heyday. 'I never thought I'd see that,' Chamblee said. But the comparison to Woods also seems premature. Scheffler, 29, likely will claim a fourth straight PGA Tour Player of the Year award win or lose this week. No one is questioning that he stands alone at the top of the mountain. He has been World No. 1 for 118 straight weeks and counting, but to break Tiger's all-time record of 281 consecutive weeks, he needs to hold the top spot until Halloween 2028. Scheffler has 18 career wins; Tiger has 82. Scheffler will need to win at least five tournaments every year for the next 13 years to surpass Tiger. It's a bit like Aaron Judge being the fastest player in Major Leage Baseball history to reach 350 career home runs, achieving the milestone in 1,088 games. But Judge has a long way to go to get to Hank Aaron or Barry Bonds as the all-time home run king. He's not even halfway there. Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy once seemed on pace to match Tiger but haven't been able to keep up with Tiger's longevity. Scheffler may have Tiger-like staying power at the top of the game but for now it's more comparable to Vijay Singh's run of winning four times in 2003 and nine times in 2004. It's kind of like making birdie at the first three holes and saying he's on track for the course record. How many Tigers are there? Only one. Scheffler echoed that sentiment. 'In the simplest form, I think it's very silly to be compared to Tiger Woods,' he said. 'I think Tiger is a guy that stands alone in the game of golf, and I think he always will. Tiger inspired a whole generation of golfers.' Just as Scheffler is inspiring comparisons to greatness, and that's not such a bad thing.

Tiger Woods to lead group that could reshape the PGA Tour's competitive model
ATLANTA (AP) — Tiger Woods is a major player in golf again, this time without clubs. He was appointed Wednesday to chair a new committee charged with taking a fresh look at the competitive model for how the PGA Tour runs its tournaments. Brian Rolapp, three weeks into his role as the tour's first CEO, announced the nine-member 'Future Competition Committee' and said it would have a clean sheet to consider changes that uphold traditions without being tied to them. 'This is about shaping the next era of the PGA Tour,' Woods said in a social media post. Rolapp didn't have details on several issues he faces as he takes over for Commissioner Jay Monahan, including the future of a sport that has been splintered by Saudi money that created the rival LIV Golf League and lured away a number of top players. The PGA Tour's negotiations with the Public Investment Fund have stalled, and Rolapp did not make that sound as if it were a top priority when asked about the fans' desire to see all the best players together more often. 'I'm going to focus on what I can control,' Rolapp said. "I would offer to you that the best collection of golfers in the world are on the PGA Tour. I think there's a bunch of metrics that demonstrate that, from rankings to viewership to whatever you want to pick. I'm going to lean into that and strengthen that. 'I will also say that to the extent we can do anything that's going to further strengthen the PGA Tour, we'll do that,' he said. 'And I'm interested in exploring whatever strengthens the PGA Tour.' Woods, who has played only 10 times on the PGA Tour since his February 2021 car crash and has been out all of this year with a ruptured Achilles tendon, already serves on the PGA Tour board without a term limit. Now he will lead five players from the board — Patrick Cantlay, Adam Scott, Camilo Villegas, Maverick McNealy and Keith Mitchell — along with three from the business side. That includes baseball executive Theo Epstein. Rolapp is not trying to reinvent a sport that held its first championship in 1860. He said among his early observations, after two decades at the NFL, was the strength and momentum of the PGA Tour. 'My key takeaway when you boil all this down is that the strength of the PGA Tour is strong, but there's much more we need to do, much more we need to change for the benefit of fans, players and our partners,' he said. He said the committee would be guided by parity (he conceded golf already has that), scarcity and simplicity. The tour released a 2026 schedule on Tuesday that adds another $20 million signature event, this one to Trump National Doral, as part of a 35-event schedule from January through August. Rolapp said the simplicity was mostly about connecting the regular season to the postseason. He referred to the committee's work as a 'holistic relook of how we compete on the tour' during the regular season, postseason and offseason. 'The goal is not incremental change,' he said. 'The goal is significant change.' He did not set a timetable for any of it. The Tour Championship ends this week at East Lake for the top 30 players. The tour has eliminated the built-in advantage for top seeds so that everyone starts from scratch. The committee is a smaller version of the PGA Tour Enterprises board and policy board. Joining Epstein from the business side are board chairman Joe Gorder and John Henry of Fenway Sports Group, who leads the Strategic Sports Group that invested $1.5 billion — with the potential to double that — into the tour in a minority investment announced 18 months ago. ___
