Haj 2026: Check Qurrah results, fee details; all you need to know
With the Haj 2026 application deadline having ended on August 7, applicants can now wait for the draw of lots known as 'Qurrah' (digital random selection) to find out if they have been selected for the annual pilgrimage through the Haj Committee of India.
The government has not yet revealed the total number of applicants.
The Qurrah is expected to be conducted on August 13 at 11.30 am in the Committee Room, Haj Committee of India, Haj House, Mumbai. The session is scheduled to be livestreamed online and will be published on the Committee's website (www.hajcommittee.gov.in).
The committee also said that it will publish the list of provisionally selected and waitlisted applicants on its official website, with notifications also sent via SMS.
All provisionally selected pilgrims must pay the advance Haj fee of Rs 1,52,300 by August 20, 2025.
Haj 2026 pilgrims will have 17 designated embarkation points for their journey, which include Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, among others. Apart from the existing 17 embankment points, Vijayawada has recently been added to the list.
For the first time, the Haj Committee of India is offering a shorter, 20-day Haj package for pilgrims, as part of the guidelines released for Haj 2026.
A maximum of 10,000 pilgrims will be selected for the shorter Haj package, while the rest of the pilgrims will follow the traditional 40-45 day schedule. If applications for the short-duration pilgrimage exceed the 10,000 limit, a lottery system will be used to determine selection.

Pre-booking for NH annual toll pass at Rs 3,000 begins
CHENNAI: Pre-bookings have been opened for the Annual Toll Pass (ATP), priced at Rs 3,000, offering motorists up to 200 single trips through NHAI-maintained toll plazas on national highways, starting August 15. The ATP pre-booking was enabled through the RajmargYatra mobile app (Android only) on Wednesday and the same will be allowed through other iOS and official NHAI portal from Thursday onwards. This facility is exclusive to private vehicles – cars, vans, and jeeps – with valid FASTag accounts. The average toll per crossing under the ATP comes to about Rs 15, and the annual pass will reduce user fee expenses for private vehicles by approximately 75%-80%. The pass is valid for one year from the activation date or until 200 trips are completed, whichever comes first. Once either limit is reached, the pass automatically reverts to a regular FASTag. Requests for ATP activation can be placed through the app, and passes will be activated on August 15. If the 200 trips are used up within a few months, motorists may purchase and activate another ATP via the app. TN has 74 toll plazas on NHs, with an average daily collection of Rs 3 crore to Rs 14 crore.

Non-star hotels seek extension of benefits of star hotels
Vijayawada: A delegation from the Andhra Pradesh Hotels and Restaurants Association, led by president Parvathaneni Ravi Kumar, zonal president Krishna Mohan, and Executive Committee Members Veeramachaneni Hemanth Kumar and Ilapuram Raja, met Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena on Wednesday at the Secretariat, urging the Government to extend the provisions of Go Ms No 131 to non-classified hotels in the State that already operate bar and restaurant facilities. The delegation explained that while the order currently benefits only 3-star and above hotels, many non-classified hotels match them in size, service quality, and facilities. They highlighted that these establishments employ thousands, serve lakhs of customers annually, and contribute significantly to State tax revenues. The association pointed out that owners of such hotels have made heavy investments in clean, hygienic, and safe infrastructure, with many undergoing major upgrades in line with the State's world-class hospitality vision. However, they are currently treated as standalone 2B bars, facing high costs and restrictive licensing conditions. They proposed that the same Rs 25 lakh annual licence fee structure applicable to 3-star hotels be extended to these establishments and sought automatic renewal or exemption from the lottery system. The delegation emphasised that such measures would strengthen the tourism and hospitality ecosystem, protect thousands of jobs, enhance tax revenues, and make quality hospitality more accessible to middle and upper-middle-class customers. Meena assured the delegation that the proposal would be examined for possible consideration.
