MasterChef's Jamie reveals what separates Callum and Laura ahead of finale
The pair have now advanced to the top two in this year's season, with one of the former runner-ups set to finally become a MasterChef champion and receive the $250,000 cash prize. Following his elimination in Monday night's episode, Jamie Fleming tells Yahoo Lifestyle that Callum and Laura each have unique strengths heading into the grand finale.

'I think that Callum's ability to draw interesting flavour combinations and concepts and just pound as much technique into as many different elements as possible, is a big strength of his. I think it's absolutely come into fruition towards the back end of this comp, although he has shown it a lot of the way,' he details.
'And I think Laura's grasp of just making things yummy is pretty second to none. The amount of flavour she can pack into whatever she's making is phenomenal, and I think her grasp of interesting flavours and interesting ingredients, utilising natives and Japanese techniques to help build these really round, beautiful flavours, is something that she's really good at.'
The key to winning MasterChef 2025
Despite narrowly missing out on a spot in the finale, Jamie admits he's 'super stoked' for both finalists and how far they've each come in the competition.
'It's pretty on a knife edge, this finale, because they're so good at certain things, and I think that leaning into their strengths is what's going to separate them tonight,' he adds.
'I think that tonight's finale is going to come down to what the challenges set up and who backs themselves enough to just go, 'Yes, I'm going to lean heavily into what I'm good at and what I know I can execute well'. And then it's going to come down to who executes best on the day.'

Jamie's secret to success
Reflecting on his experience in the MasterChef kitchen this time around, Jamie believes the reason why he, Laura, Callum, and Ben Macdonald all made it so far in the competition is because they lived by the same motto: 'Tidy bench, tidy mind, cook better.'
'If you watch back across a lot of the season, I guarantee you that my bench, Callum's bench, Laura's bench, and Ben's bench all look pretty similar, because the first thing we ran for were little containers that could have our spoons, have our salts, and have our butter,' he details.
'We were trying to recreate a professional environment in front of us to make ourselves a little bit more comfortable. There are things that you pick up only through experience, and when you spend as much time as we all have in professional kitchens, you kind of just fall into habits that you know work, and it gives you space and time to think, and you can adjust quicker and stay tidy.'
Jamie's post-show plans
While he might not be walking away from the competition as this year's champion, Jamie shares that he has plenty of exciting career opportunities in the pipeline.
'I've got Spill Wine up in Maleny, which is our little love letter to wine, and just celebrating local produce and delicious snacks with fantastic vino from around Australia and around the world,' he details.

'So I'm basing myself over there for a little while at the moment, but I'm just writing a lot, and in the process of planning and filming a lot of content throughout as much of Australia as possible. I think trying to educate and sort of showcase as many amazing producers and as much amazing food as I possibly can, over the next little while, is what's in store for me.'

The Block fans slam $3 million detail: 'They need to change'
In recent years, houses on The Block have sold at auction for wild sums. In 2022, Omar and Oz made Block history when their house sold for $5,666,666.66, scoring them a huge profit of $1,586,666 plus $100,000 in prize money. Then, in 2023, Steph and Gian, who sold their house for $5m, made a record-breaking profit of $1.65m, plus $100,000 in prize money. Although they didn't break the record, last year's winners, Maddy and Charlotte, achieved a significant $1.55m, plus the $100,000 in prize money, after selling their property for $3.5m. So, it's no surprise that this year's houses are expected to go for a huge amount at auction. However, fans disagree with the judges' expectations for the houses' sale prices. On Sunday night, Darren Palmer said that the execution of Sonny and Alicia's kids bedrooms wasn't to a high standard, telling the other judges, "We've said it from the beginning, that this is The Block of details, and it's every little detail that you miss, that somebody else has picked up that may cost you a win." "This about the detail, because these homes are selling in excess of $3m, you expect a level of finish that is to that price point," Marty Fox agreed. The Block viewers slam $3m detail RELATED: The Block's 2025 location offers idyllic weekend getaway less than 2 hours from Melbourne The Block's Sonny and Alicia make major change that divides fans: 'Nightmare' The Block's Dan Reilly reveals major gripe about contestants: 'Fascinates me' One viewer took to Reddit, taking issue with the comment, writing, "Here's an idea, give them more than a week to finish them." "Right! Just give them 2 weeks you'd have more content captured as well," another responded. "How can they do the challenges plus the filming plus get ready for Sunday presos, film the walk through of the other contestants rooms in one week." The OP responded, "Absolutely. This programme format worked 15 years ago or so when this started… but since then, the market has changed, tradies aren't a dime a dozen, The Block has a 'reputation' and if they want decent trades who can do a decent job, they need to change." "As soon as I heard that I lost it," a third said. "No one is going to be paying $3m in Daylesford unless there is huge land allocation associated with the house. It's not the Melbourne market at all." "They must already have buyers identified," one person hypothesised. "I could see maybe a company buying the lot for luxury BnB's. But yeah, can't imagine many individuals are lining up." "Who wouldn't want a multi million dollar home, built by amateurs under time pressure, with a limited budget?" another viewer added sarcastically. "Nine in Six would surely come through and touch up any defects between the end of production and auction." Others pointed out that the views from the houses are likely just "temporary" as the "whole area is a new development". Daylesford is the 'perfect tourist destination' Buxton Ballarat director Mark Nunn, who is the listing agent for House 3's Britt and Taz, previously told Yahoo Lifestyle that Daylesford is the "perfect tourist destination" for those living in Melbourne. "It's got so much to offer from a weekend point of view. Restaurants are really high quality, the accommodation's really high quality, you've got lots of massage and mineral spas that are available, there are amazing wineries around the place, and it's quite a visually pretty place when you go through," he explains. SHOP: 🏉 Rugby fan's huge airport surprise after landing in Sydney: 'Surreal' 🛏️ Expert reveals secret to the best night's sleep: 'Wouldn't choose anything else' 🦥 Boody's new range in sizes S to XL are 'the softest sets you'll ever wear': 'Comfy and chic' "It's also close to the city, so it's not hard to get to. You can duck up on a Friday afternoon or a Friday night, have a really nice weekend, and then get back Sunday night without having to take a flight or a long drive. So accessibility is a great thing." While it does sound lovely, $3m does sound like a lot of money for a house you'd visit for the odd weekend. What do you think?

Inside Netflix's new major deal with Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan "So much of 'With Love, Meghan' is devoted to trying to gin up capital-M Meaning that Meghan seems to forget that the only reason anyone would do any of this — whether that's bake a cookie dappled with edible flowers or watch a lifestyle show — would be because it's fun," Daniel D'Addario wrote in a negative review for Variety, adding that "there isn't enough here to justify the running time, nor its star's belief we'll keep watching." But just days after the first season debuted in March, Netflix confirmed Season 2, which had already wrapped filming, was on the way. "With Love, Meghan" was released amid a partnership between Netflix and Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry.
